#1 Shelbyville (22-2A) vs #2 East Chambers (22-3A)

Agreed and kudos to both coaches for making this game happen. Should be a great tune up with a playoff-type atmosphere. Here’s to a competitive, injury-free game. -

You might be right about that part. It’s somewhere in that range, maybe a few less actually. -

You mean like “two years ago Lipan beat Argyle who gave Silsbee its toughest game”? Is it only possible to use “so and so beat so and so, who almost beat so and so” if we’re debating this year’s teams by using teams that graduated 2 years ago? Again I don’t know how opining Lipan isn’t as good as 3 teams that are state-ranked in 4A was so outrageous (but apparently it is). The Napoleon complex is alive and well. Thankfully for Coach K, Lipan is in District 19-1A and not the ACC... -

You read correctly if you meant one of three toughest opponents, at least this year. Not sure about the Lipan team from 2 years ago. This year’s Lipan team lost to Port Aransas, who HJ managed to beat by 40+. I’m sure they’re an excellent 1A team that may well win 3 in a row. But I don’t think saying they aren’t as good as ranked 4A teams is a huge diss. -

And Huffman. Those 2, along with the Spring Hill loss, are easily the three toughest opponents on the schedule (no offense to 1A Lipan), until now. This could be a really good game if Shelbyville controls the tempo. Only way it gets out of hand is if they fall into playing EC’s game. -
I hope I’m wrong but should be Huffman by double digits. They are easily the best team in that district but would likely have been 3rd in 22-4A. They are pretty comparable with HJ. Score should reflect accordingly.

Purely from a matchup perspective. But it’s tough to say until you see them matched up. The only result that would surprise me would be a Shelbyville blowout. Any other result I could see. My guess is EC by 5-10. Six seems like a good line. -

Neither North Shore nor United will be favored in Region III in my opinion. North shore is the highest rated based on record, but that is a very tough region. Morton Ranch, Dickinson, Summer Creek, Elkins, Sam Houston, etc, are all tough teams. Not saying BU or NS couldn’t make it make it out of that region, but it would be surprising if they did. -

Now that is a great point. Easily the hardest part of time keeping. I’ve seen games where the refs are constantly having to stop it to get the shot clock right. -

That’s as much or more on the defense as the team holding it. You want the ball? Get out of that zone and pressure the basketball. I’ve only see the video of the last possession but it looked like WOS was sitting in a 2-3 and Lumberton waited until 20 seconds or so on the clock and went to a spread-swing and found a shooter open in the weak side corner with a tick or two left. And he obviously knocked it down. -

It’s a mix for me. I do enjoy fast played games for the most part but maybe the hardest game to sit through for me this season was Yates vs Beaumont United early in the season. It was a 2 pt game and 190 pts were scored. But the whole thing was a hot mess that truly resembled an open gym, pick up game. Up and down the floor, jacking it up at the first opportunity. It wasn’t even apparent if a single play was run in 32 minutes. Conversely, I also appreciate a game where you have a battle of wills and opposite styles battling. As Jim Thorpe pointed out, that Silsbee-Argyle game was a classic. And so was the Silsbee-Carter game, which was played completely differently. But we live in a highlight reel, mix tape society now and the high-flying, run and gun basketball is what most fans want to see. -

This is the debate with a proposed shot clock. As much as I like watching basketball with a shot clock because I like a fast paced game, Lumberton could not have the season they have had with one. They beat WOS twice by controlling the tempo of the game and dictating the game would be played on their terms. Disciplined, long possessions. Shorten the game by not allowing the mustangs to have the ball. My guess is the Raiders probably had a very lopsided time of possession. So as much as I love fast paced basketball, I have to agree with my friend @AggiesAreWe In the high school game, imposing the clock would take away a lot of strategy which, if executed, can be the great equalizer. And Lumberton Assistant Rideaux is another one vehemently opposed to a HS shot clock. -

Matt Graves hits nothing but the bottom of the net from the corner as time expires. Thankfully, he is a better shooter (and much more handsome) than his grandpa -
