That conference is known for self-aggrandizing, not self-awareness.
-
New leaf in a new year?
-
That we agree on lol
-
Hopefully they can pull it out against a mid major playing its backup QB with one career start. More importantly, the SEC has a good chance to end the bowl season tied against the Big 12 if Georgia beats Texas.

Too darn funny.

Allstate Sugar Bowl National Prep Classic, Jan. 2-5

From about Maryland up to NYC, they do have some dogs. Those kids play like their lives depend on it. A lot of the kids, around the Houston area at least, have become “suburbanized.” It’s a bit of a shock for the ones who’ve never played kids from those parts every year. The Texas kids do tend to be much more skilled though. Silsbee is a different animal - those kids don’t struggle with toughness. -

Texas never wanted in the sec and would never join that conference as is. A&M has no problem and has now gone to a virtual open admission policy. Not long ago, aggy was right behind Rice and UT in admission difficulty. In the SEC, and in their quest to try to one up Texas they have fallen behind most of the bigger schools in the state, including UofH. Texas publicly thumbed their noses at the SEC and ruffled some feathers. But you are right, from a financial standpoint, Texas is the crowned jewel of college sports. I envision it all blowing up eventually and the blue bloods reorganizing it all. Should be funny to see how quickly aggy may have to come sniffing for a burnt orange jock. They better hope it happens after Abbott is long gone. -
Honestly, I might prefer such officiating in the girls’ games. (But certainly don’t want anyone hurt obviously.) Not that there aren’t some that play at a high level. My wife has long contended that if you played a drinking game at most girls’ games where you had to take a shot anytime there was a foul, jump ball, or a girl hits the floor, no one would make it to halftime without dying of alcohol poisoning. There are exceptions to the rule but when you are used to watching the boys’ game, most of these I see seem like one long whistle.

Those east coast guys love to mix it up. They play hard and they are physical as hell usually. Doesn’t mean they always play fast, but you will feel it at the end of the game. It is very interesting to watch different brands of basketball played regionally throughout the country. -

They will be physical but silsbee generally likes that type of game. -

Idk anything about the first game for silsbee but that second round game against Walker or Bishop Loughlin (Brooklyn) should be a challenge. Both are usually tough. -

That might be a good first round game, huh? I know scotlandville shouldn’t be as good after graduating Smart but MaxPreps has them at 19-0 for what that’s worth. -
That’s why it should be Texas, Alabama, and 2 at large bids every year. OU always chokes. I think Stoops never figured out people were trolling him calling him “Big Game Bob.”
-
Well, only 3 teams have beaten a CFP team: Alabama, Clemson and Texas. Now that we have identified the top 3 teams in the country, we should just round robin this thing out and decide who is the best team once and for all. Otherwise, Bama or Clemson are going to need an asterisk by their title

Okay 10-4A is a bunch of prep schools UIL put together in one district. So our original thought was correct. They will definitely be a contender in that region.
-
That’s what I thought based upon them being top 5 in all the rankings. Maybe Todd or Mike can clear it up for us. I’m confused.
-
That’s why I thought they were in that 4A region. Their schedule says they play a bunch of prep schools where most play district games though. So I have no idea why they are in the rankings.
-
Looks like they play in a prep league so no. I don’t think any private or charter schools should be allowed to play UIL personally.
-
That’s because almost no one had. Cedar Hill’s entire coaching staff moved there after last season. One of those “charter schools” our secretary of education DeVos is so fond of. They rounded up some players too and have some impressive wins, most notably for me is Katy Tompkins. They are one of several teams that could make it out of that region. Bottom line is if Silsbee is focused and firing on all cylinders, they are better than all of those teams. If they aren’t, could lose to any of them in any given game.

Mark Richt has retired. Manny Diaz new head coach

Exactly. Hard to believe they couldn’t get a Campbell or Babers. Diaz looked like a genius in the SEC when he was blitzing every down in a league that had incredibly lousy QB play at the time. Went to Texas and got exposed against high powered offenses. Nice guy and a good recruiter though. If he hires some really good coordinators, could work out. No way he’s my first choice at a school like that though. Rutgers seemed about right for his next move. -

That is crazy. Maybe he will be great, but seems like a very blah hire. Hard to fathom Manny is an upgrade from Richt.
