  1. Got a bit of family in Gig Harbor so Iā€™ve always followed since I was a kid in the Don James days. DeBoer was kinda an outside the box hires. He had always had success but not long at the D1 level. The huskies seem to have a solid AD.
  2. [Hidden Content] itā€™s done. Good job Bammer. Impossible to replace what you had but probably the best you could do.
  3. Best hire available in my opinion. Perfect world, I would have been more than fine with Satk saying yes and UT poaching DeBoer. I think he is that good. We shall see I guess.
  4. I would fly Mark Stoops in and then meet him on the tarmac, tell him weā€™ve changed our mind, and tell him itā€™s not him, itā€™s us. If you have a chance to troll a stoops, you take it.
  5. Kountzeā€™s depth along with the defense they play will cause 95 percent of teams serious problems. Itā€™s the 5 percent that have elite guards where it falls apart because it leads to easy buckets on the other end. Then the question becomes how good is your half court defense? As often as not, itā€™s relatively weak due to reliance on the press. This is why relatively few teams do this at the next level and the ones that do, use it to eat shot clock vs causing turnovers Having said all that, Kountze could win every game by 20+ until they play a Hitchcock and then they could get beat by 20+ if they are unable to adjust. In terms of Orangefield, Scales is probably the best ball handler Iā€™ve seen there in the almost 30 years Iā€™ve been following (and only a sophomore). This will definitely be the most interesting matchup of the district imo
  6. One of the teams better not overlook Fridayā€™s game or it wonā€™t be the battle of the undefeateds.
  7. I donā€™t necessarily hate that hire for Bama either. Defense wins championships and heā€™s spent his entire coaching career under the greatest defensive mind (Saban) and second greatest defensive mind (Smart) in CFB. Crazy to think someone that young could get that job. But could be a genius hire. If not, shouldnā€™t take a lot od money to get out of it.
  8. [Hidden Content]
  9. Supposedly the Nike money tied to Lanning is crazy. To be honest, Iā€™m not sure DeBoer wouldnā€™t be my first choice after Kirby of ANY coaches in college football (including Harbaugh). 104-12 record as a head coach is insane, at any collegiate level. Imagine with Alabamaā€™s resources and pedigreeā€¦
  10. Just saw a mock post on FB announcing Butch Jones šŸ˜‚
  11. Saw some Alabama folks discussing this yesterday and they basically said the same. They donā€™t think they could get Sark anyway. I wouldnā€™t lose sleep either way to be honest.
  12. Any truth to the rumor Mike Elko just received a 10 year, $200 million extension, payable in riyals and plutonium?
  13. Happens with young teams. They will get better with experience.
  14. Youā€™re welcome SEC
  15. I believe heā€™s talking about the game being closer than some would have thought. Any win against a Todd Sutherland-coached team is a good win. And I think some people assumed when Kountze blew them out that the Bucs wouldnā€™t be very good. I think people may be under appreciating how good the Lions are.
  16. I didnā€™t know whether to put this in college sports or here but since they are obviously better at treason than footballā€¦ [Hidden Content] Isnā€™t open enrollment enough? Now these idiots are selling nuclear technology to adversaries to pay ex-coaches and players for their dumpster fire program? We donā€™t need this trash in the SEC or receiving PUF and/or other state fundingā€¦
  17. Win or lose, these are invaluable games for the Tigers. Especially since their district appears even weaker than usual this year. I think the result, given the hand they were played, is probably as good as can be expected. Silsbee would be my favorite out of region 3 to get to SA.
  18. Thatā€™s where I was lost. I see what you were saying now.
  19. Thatā€™s crazy to me too because surely Vidor has more talent than Liberty Hill. Also shocking Prouse hasnā€™t won state with it either, what with Deweyville having way more studs than Duncanville or Katyā€¦
  20. He said 22-23 school year (which would have been 2022 football season). Thatā€™s my understanding too - is that not correct?
  21. Regarding my claim about Smalleyā€™s effectiveness as an AD, here are the most recent ā€œCoaches of the Yearā€ recipients in SETX. Orangefield has more than double any other school, all Smalley hires.
  22. They have a shot. Hitchcock is definitely the most talented team in the region but Kountze is good enough to have a ā€œpuncherā€™s chanceā€ imo.
  23. Dallas filing any sort of grievance with the UIL is hilarious. They are the dirtiest district (and region with the metroplex in general) of any area of the state and it isnā€™t even close. They made an example out of Duncanville in basketball but honestly thatā€™s the tip of the iceberg. I would bet a large amount of money that SOC has multiple starters that are questionable enrollees at best.
