  1. Reminds me of a funny Hefner story. When he was a freshman, he showed up at his first Houston Defenders workout/tryout obviously having slept all the way to Houston. Had bedhead and looked all of 12 years old in the face. He jumped in the workouts and the kids were shooting elbow jumpers. Air balled the first one, second one was off the backboard to the side of the rim. The head coach, Aaron Harrison, looks at me and asks, “who the hell brought this kid?” My son tells Hayden, “give ‘em a 360.” Harrison says, “get out of here with that.” We clear the floor and he does. Then he tells him, “give ‘em the windmill.” And he does. Our first session that spring was going to be in NYC. Harrison looks at me and says, “we gotta get this kid. We’ll take him down to Rucker Park and make a fortune placing dunk bets!”

  3. OF 48 Tarkington 18 End 3
  4. OF 36 Tarkington 13 H
  5. OF 12 Tarkington 8 End 1
  6. The Weisbrod/Hefner comparison is dumb. Two different positions with two different skill sets. Colton did things Hayden can’t do, Hayden does things Colton couldn’t do. It’s like comparing a QB with a Left Tackle in football. Apples and cantaloupes.
  7. I agree. Some of these early season CBB matchups are amazing.
  8. More than 1 imo.
  9. In my best McConaughey voice, “it’d been a lot cooler if he did..”
  10. Definitely interesting. In the same way Hagar’s Roswell stuff is interesting and Mack posted some interesting articles on theories behind last year’s Vegas mass shooting. They make for fascinating reads (for me anyway) but I wouldn’t bet something even so trivial as money on the veracity of any of it. Although Hagar is close to having me converted on the extraterrestrials.
  11. Great question. In reality, the result will be the same either way. But if Silsbee requested it to be rescheduled, I don’t see a big deal in doing so.
  12. I'm sure everyone in Silsbee wants the football team to win the last game they play. They EXPECT the basketball team to win the last game they play. I get both sides of it (don't focus on basketball yet) but the ones that are playing right now focus on it year round. And it's been beyond fun to talk about this team for the past several years.
  13. Very true
  14. Plus the committee is terrible. I would have had no problem with UGA at #4 because let’s face it, they probably are the 2nd or 3rd best team. But if you aren’t going to do that, how does OU jump them but tOSU does not? You either drop them past the power 5, one loss conference champions or you don’t. No way anyone can say with any authority that OU is better than the Buckeyes or vice versa. You had to pick one. But placing UGA in the middle of them implies OU is CLEARLY better than tOSU.
  15. Couldn’t agree more. I can take either scenario (Washington or Michigan). Have a proviso that you have to let an undefeated MM in if that occurs. Either way, just like the bubble teams in March, it’s fun to argue but a lot less relevant.
  16. Add Jamie Dixon and TCU to that list. That guy can coach a little. I’m not sure if that’s official yet but it’s coming.
  17. Oh I’m not saying they will beat silsbee. I told my Dallas people last year before Midlothian played Memorial they hadn’t seen the toughness they were about to see. And I will take silsbee against any 4A team. But it won’t be easy and I think they will face a better team than they have the last 3 years from region 2. As far as D’ville goes, I don’t know yet where they will end up. But Ramsey is the best player in the state not named Maxey imo and Micah Peavy gives them a better one two punch than even South Garland. I’m just saying they are talented enough to reach SA (obviously) on the 6A and WH just beat them. And Argyle is now in region 1. Their path got much easier in the new realignment. Tbh, they are the type of team that could give Silsbee the most trouble. 3 Regardless, 4A state this year should have at least 3 teams capable of winning it all.
  18. You don’t think Hutch can beat Carter?
  19. I’m guessing OU and TCU liked what they saw tonight. Actually, I’m not guessing
  20. Memorial will be a solid favorite in both. The Barbers Hill-Nederland games will be interesting. Sounds like he had similar games against Bridge City and a West Brook team who just played a very good matchup with Silsbee. Wonder what could have been different? And by the way, I can list 3 guys in the last 2 seasons who played on mediocre teams from the greater Houston area that are 1) in the NBA now, 2) will be next year, and 3) arguably the best player on an SEC team. Not saying Hayden is those guys but point is even some great players don’t make every team they play on great.
  21. We’ll all be waiting with bated breath...
  22. If you read that thread, you would know he had 33. I will also say having been at that one, he had at least 10 boards. But he was literally scoring at will as you would expect. Might could have had a triple double but didn’t get a lot of help that night. Edit: and would have been 35 or 36 (depending on the FT) but for the single worst call I’ve seen in a basketball game to date this year (in the 25-30 games I’ve seen).
  23. And Galatoire’s > Rosario’s
