  1. He’s a top 20 talent. Do we have any indication he will be better in Dallas? Not only no, but probably not. Question is whether there’s a better WR that would be available in college. Probably none as good as Cooper was in college. Because he’s still getting paid on a rookie contract. Definitely not saying this was a good trade. But for a team desperate for a WR, I somewhat get it.
  2. Now that you mention it, someone else told me the same thing. You may have the winner there.
  3. Mario’s is awesome and I’m married to a dago so we’re pretty picky. We can agree to disagree on Franklin’s. I hate waiting but that place is the stone cold nuts on brisket. I’m not a big pork ribs guy with BBQ joints since we all know someone who can cook the mess out of them on their own smoker. Beef ribs on the other hand are a different breed. Franklin does a pretty good job with them, Killen’s in Pearland are really good, and Louie Mueller in Taylor is probably still the king. Hit up Micklethwait’s though. If you like the accoutrement of barbeque along with really good meats, that place is among the best. If I make it up for a basketball game this season, I will treat you to a lunch there.
  4. Just saw this. Mixed emotions. They don’t have close to a #1 wr. Cole and Hurns are serviceable #2s to me. Question is whether you could get someone better with the pick (probably not in the college ranks) or via free agency. I’m still not sold on Dak but this year’s QB class looks to be weak. I say tank it up next year and get Tua.
  5. Realistically, just from my eyeball test, we are not a Top 10 team, much less a playoff team. To me, we look like a top 15-20 team. We are good, not great, or even very good, but the future looks amazingly bright. How we only have 1 loss at this point is based somewhat on luck (just as we have been really unlucky with some losses in the past) and a lot on coaching. The great news is I truly believe Herman is who we hoped and thought he was. All that being said, i think it’s not if but when this year’s bubble is burst. It could be any week now, and possibly this Saturday (although Okie Lite is not good).
  6. I was leaving that to the others because I’m not a huge fried fish fan. I like it, I eat it, but not an aficionado of it. That being said, for my taste, I like Pappadeaux as much as any. I value consistency as much as anything and it’s always good. I also prefer the way they batter. It’s not the same as their oysters which I think are easily the best in SETX. Now if you include Galveston in the geographic area, give me Gaido’s for all of the above.
  7. Note to CP3: if you want to play tough guy on the floor, best do it with someone other than Rondo. He’s not a dude that’s going to let you slide with that stuff.
  8. One thing I’ve come to believe: any religion that thinks it has a monopoly on the keys to to heaven assuredly does not.
  9. A good Big 12 team or a doormat like aggy was?
  10. If they win out, the committee will find a way to get them in. The powers that be want Texas to be back so badly. The winning out is the problem. Realistically, this team winning 10 games is over achieving.
  11. I always thought he should have been hired by aggy. He does a great job without getting the pick of the litter recruits. And thought they might go with the old adage, if you can’t beat him...
  12. That’s because they are out. At least when they played in the World Series last year (I’m told that’s the “super bowl” of that sport), they made it on FS1. Maybe one day baseball will be popular enough to make the SEC Network (insert laugh/cry emoji).
  13. When I saw this thread I thought, leave it to Hagar to start a thread that gets us hungry every time we open it
  14. You always know you stand on good ground when the Mack is yapping against you. I just hope he’s been able to find the baseball playoffs he loves so much since they were on that channel that no one has heard of or could find. And by no one, only him
  15. Orangefield scores with seconds remaining to cut it to 2 and get a delay of game penalty. Got a good look at converting anyway but ball was just off receiver’s finger tips in corner of end zone. Hardin was pretty impressive - not sure if they had more than 20 kids suited up. And kudos to the tambourine player in the band. Easily the most entertaining part of my evening.
  16. Heard an interesting stat tonight. Since 2015, Alabama, Clemson, tOSU, and OU have all won over 90 percent of their conference games, with an average margin of over 20 pts per game. The Buckeyes have the largest margin of victory at over 28 ppg. Bama was a little over 24 ppg. OU had the lowest at just over 20. Cant remember Clemson’s but it was somewhere between Bama and tOSUs.
  17. That place is the nuts and I love but am picky about Thai food. As you insinuate, the biggest problem is deciding what to order.
  18. One, when school ball is in full swing, so is the college season. Coaches may visit and catch a game here and there, but that is primarily in an attempt to secure/keep a commitment, not for evaluation. They want to see a potential power 5 kid play against other power 5 type talent. The best place to do this is in the late spring and summer, when their seasons are over and the sneaker circuits are in full swing. I believe McCain has that type of talent, but a coach might be less willing to gamble until he’s seen that talent “translate” with his own eyes.
  19. He was and decommitted some time ago. Not sure the circumstances but was not related to any of the issues mentioned here from what I understand. One thing that should be kept in mind is that offers given when kids are underclassmen are more “offers” with emphasis on quotation marks. Coaches may be counting on a certain amount of development, growth, etc. This is in no way a comment on Jordyn’s situation - he has committed to Austin Peay and I’m sure he will have success there and has the opportunity to get a great education there for free. A big congrats to him. My understanding is that Devon has an OV scheduled with Austin Peay in a couple of weeks and it is a down to and Univ. of New Orleans. Most probably are thinking he will end up at AP as well. Kudos to Coach Sless at UNO for continuing to recruit SETX hard and has had some success here (Weisbrod, Zeno). I know with McCain, he was projected high D1 at times and I still think he has that kind of talent. Performances like he had in the championship game last year are next level stuff. Most kids aren’t even capable of pulling that out of their bag. I know the “incident” is what most people think has hurt him and if probably didn’t help. But he’s a big hearted kid from what I know of him and a lot of kids make a mistake. The biggest drawback from my discussions with guys at the next level is that they never got to see him compete, especially last summer, against the top national players. And like it or not, big time scholarships are earned in this day and age between April and July, not November and March.
  20. Really nice and huge. But you’re right - can be a pain in the behind getting there.
  21. By the way, for anyone with a hankering for Central Texas Barbeque, Killen’s in Pearland is as good or better than most. The brisket and beef rib are top 5 in the state (which means top 5 in the world of course) imo. For Southeast Texas, JB’s in Orange is still the best to me (although if you are a BBQ connoisseur, “best” is very much a relative term for SETX bbq). @PN-G bamatex treat yourself one day and hit Micklethwait’s trailer one day for lunch. Everything he does is homemade (even the bread) and his brisket, ribs, etc are all excellent. Also rotates the homemade sausage with all kinds of varieties. You should also try his jalapeño cheese grits. Finally, if you can go now that it’s cooler, try a homemade moon pie. All of it is outstanding.
  22. Yes better than both imo. And both of those joints would probably be top 10ish for me.
  23. I am a big fan of sandwiches. I tend to think our neighbors to the East have perfected the craft, maybe largely because of the bread they use. Anyway, the best sandwich I’ve found anywhere is the Darrell’s Special at Darrell’s in Lake Charles. I am a huge fan of the cheesesteak and have had the best Philly has to offer. Darrell’s beats them hands down. I have tried everything I could find in New Orleans which are some pretty special po boys at various places, Darrell’s is better imo. If you haven’t tried one, put it high on your foodie bucket list. And get it with the jalapeño mayo. That thing is probably my favorite meal in the area, although you all have listed some really good ones as well.
