  1. EC easily had the best two players in the district. I will compare it to Westbrook winning the MVP last season. Based on his team being not very good and putting up ridiculous numbers, he was the MVP. But in no planet is he the best player in the league...
  2. Both of those team are gimme #1s. I would have both ranked 1 in the state in their classifications as well. In the small school though, not sure what teams such as Leggett return. Shelbyville seems a cinch 2 though and BU in the bigs. Atascocita and NS should be better as well.
  3. Lol! I will root for Aggie basketball as long as Billy is there. He is one of those guys you just can’t root against. One of those coaches that is an even better person, ala Todd Sutherland or Kevin Foster. And if he can just channel their Xs and Os the Ags might find themselves in San Antonio in a couple of weeks
  4. Yes. And the Red Sea is opening for Kentucky. Pretty gross their path to the final four.
  5. Actually am! My guy Flagg is getting to experience March Madness at its finest and Billy Kennedy is absolutely one of my favorite people in CBB. Maybe the average gomer (I.e., doesn’t know a basketball from a pumpkin) will get off his behind. One of the finest men you’d ever meet.
  6. You guys are so right. Free throws. Silsbee wins another ring because they were clutch from the line. U of H going home due to choking at the line. What happens when u don’t put a team away. Hate for the Coogs. They had a solid squad this year.
  7. No doubt. Or Bush. Pass first PG like Byrd with a coach like Courtney that loves bigs. Bush wins state with him.
  8. Raise your hand if your team wasn’t even on the bubble.... National Irrelevant Tournament is more your speed....
  9. You are correct. Mitch is my guy. I have no problem with his move and anyone who knows me will tell you my vote would have let him play his sophomore year. Let them play. I don’t think Yates was a great fit for him or that he was ever properly utilized. But I’m excited to see him at SFA. I think he has the potential to be a monster there. My main point was glass houses. ALL of the Silsbee kids are just that. Silsbee kids.
  10. No question. RIP to the GOAT.
  11. Well it’s obvious when it comes to the specifics, we share a lot of the same opinions. Particularly with schemes and even more specifically, the utilization of Serialle or the lack thereof.
  12. I agree. The three all staters will be tough for any school in any classification to match up with. And Martin’s progression over the course of the season has to have Tiger fans excited. As for Tyler, I have been a big fan of his for awhile now. He is the ultimate team player, who does everything well and never takes a play off. And his attitude on the floor is absolutely exemplary. If you want to see what coaches are talking about when they speak of a kid having great body language, watch Landyn Tyler.
  13. If Yates was not the second best team in Texas, they were technically overrated. I didn’t mean to slight them in saying they weren’t a top 10 team because they were. You are correct about Yates’ systemic issues. I have always said they will struggle against elite guard play and they usually do. You are a bit misguided in appearing to believe Silsbee and Yates run the same type of system. The biggest difference is Silsbee runs a full court man and doesn’t sell out on trying to trap and steal. Yes they will jump into a trap when it presents itself but they mainly just try to keep pressure up and the ball in front of them. Yates on the other hand lives and dies in the backcourt and will die more often than not when you have guards who can handle their pressure. The backside of that press is vulnerable and soft and yields easy buckets. To say Yates was NOT overrated would imply that they would be favored against the top teams from the Metroplex, who were all ranked lower. To me, THAT is either biased, clueless, or delusional. No offense to a Lion team who had without question a very fine season. But you weren’t beating those teams if you had made it to San Antionio imo. That’s all I meant. Yates has very impressive young talent and will be in the hunt most years.
  14. Yates should still be a regional favorite. Not THE regional favorite but they will be a favorite to make it to Huntsville.
  15. As we’ve discussed, Yates was the overrated team. No way they beat Carter OR Lincoln the majority of the time
  16. And grumpy there is no NIT selection show.
  17. Any time I want to be reminded how good he is at it, I would listen to the guys NFHS has doing the games. No comparison. I listened to all 4 games he did at the Alamodome and each was memorable in its own right. But you’re right, the two championship games were unforgettable.
  18. It’s like some think we should respond to every dumb comment someone makes. I thought one in particular couldn’t be anymore assinine than he is on the board until you read his clueless (albeit grammatically unreadable) drivel on the HS boards. But everyone ignores him and doesn’t even comment lol. And I’m not talking about Aces_Full.
  19. Good grief yes on both, especially Munford. He was an animal. How many times you see a kid go for 37 and 7 in a state championship game and he gets overshadowed and takes an L. Devon was just in the “anything you can do I can do better” mode...
  20. Wouldn’t be much of a game next year unfortunately. I agree. This year the game would have been something else. Honestly don’t know who I would favor. Maybe it’s just as well they didn’t play now that I think about it. No arguments about who’s better. They are both the best of the best in their classification. But man it would have been some kind of game.
  21. Losing most of the team. The big man Clover is the only returning starter and really the only Titan who saw serious minutes.
  22. He is a perfect fit for the Tigers. For a team with many personalities and “stars,” a coach who commands the respect Coach Sig does is almost a necessity. I have heard him bark an order on multiple occasions and those boys fall in line like soldiers. Congrats to Coach Sigler on two amazing accomplishments, that collided on the same magical night.
