Never should have been offered. Other than a heater or two, did very little. 6’ shooting guards are not in high demand at the high D1 level. We were literally about 10 steps above the other offers he was getting. I think he accepted before Shaka got “we” out of his mouth.

I’ve always said if he was 6-10, he would have a long, lucrative career in the league. He works so hard, plays so smart, and is so crafty I have no doubt he can make a living playing this game somewhere though.

It’s apparently not a visual sport either, as far as tv viewers are concerned. Almost as many people tune in to watch guys make 4 left turns in their cars over and over. Not sure what’s happened with our “country’s favorite past time.” It’s a great sport but seems to be losing more and more ground to the big 2. Is it just too slow for today’s fast moving, instant gratification society?

If offered, he has to take it. You are never going to make $8m a year coaching CBB in this state. There are a half a dozen schools or so that are at a different level in pay scale. Plus, every one of those guys want to coach at a school where basketball is king. I kind of expected them to back up the truck with Beard. They could just money whip the heck out of Tech without even being close. It would still surprise me if Shaka was their target.

EC easily had the best two players in the district. I will compare it to Westbrook winning the MVP last season. Based on his team being not very good and putting up ridiculous numbers, he was the MVP. But in no planet is he the best player in the league...

Both of those team are gimme #1s. I would have both ranked 1 in the state in their classifications as well. In the small school though, not sure what teams such as Leggett return. Shelbyville seems a cinch 2 though and BU in the bigs. Atascocita and NS should be better as well.

Lol! I will root for Aggie basketball as long as Billy is there. He is one of those guys you just can’t root against. One of those coaches that is an even better person, ala Todd Sutherland or Kevin Foster. And if he can just channel their Xs and Os the Ags might find themselves in San Antonio in a couple of weeks
