  1. Absolutely. And one of the toughest PGs around. But also proof how hard it is to repeat. Falls had everyone back from last year’s championship team.
  2. Foul maybe. Shooting foul no. Player pump fakes, gets fouled and drops ball. At best, Tompkins gets an inbound from corner with .2. Botched and botched horribly.
  3. I will say neither Yates nor Silsbee has a gimme Friday night. Either isn’t ready and none of us will see the matchup we have been waiting all season to see.
  4. In other news, the other half of the 6A regional finalists from last year, Cy Falls goes down to Sam Houston and Kendric Davis tonight.
  5. Wow this is one bitter pill to swallow. Tie game, Bush with foul to give. Tompkins in bounds and Bush player runs into Tompkins’ Eden Holt as time expires. Holt falls and drops ball. Refs give Tompkins three shots to win it. Very close but looks as if contact even came after buzzer I hate referees (except for one who posts here who is actually pretty darn good) [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content]
  6. That would make sense. Probably an incorrect number or something. Or someone left out of book to start game. Those will make you pull your hair out.
  7. He sure could. Stan had a nice career at Tech as well. The ultimate coach’s kid.
  8. Wow. Each Deer win has to be a little painful for the Brook. Clear Lake is a solid squad with maybe the best pure scorer in the greater Houston area.
  9. You might not be an expert but you are 100% correct. Any foul where a play is “not made on the ball” is technically flagrant by the rules.
  10. Never underestimate the heart of a Lion? Good stuff Kountze!
  11. Heckuva run by the Rebels. Tell #2 I’m sure proud of him.
  12. Maybe the best in the state in any classification at controlling tempo. You can beat them, but you have to beat them at “their” game.
  13. Wow. A lot closer than I expected but counts as much as a blowout. Way to go Bucs! One at a time boys.
  14. All about matchups. They both have to get to Saturday first.
  15. That’s right! I forgot about him. Yeah, he was a beast.
  16. BJ Tyler might have been the best player at state in Austin that year. Shaq had just turned 17 (as a senior at SA Cole) and was still a little raw.
  17. You both are so right. I knew the first time I ever saw BS play that they were extremely well coached. That opinion was more and more validated every time I’ve seen them since. But as great a coach as Foster is, he might be an even better person. Case in point, the man didn’t know me or my family from Adam but my knucklehead son left his backpack in their gym after a scrimmage. Didn’t realize it until he got home. We call and make sure they had it and he confirms they do and then offers to meet us in Lumberton, about the halfway point to drop it off. I said thank you but absolutely not, I will come to dallardsville and pick it up. I did it on a tournament day so I could have an excuse to see one of my favorite local teams play (which is hard to do often due to distance). But that to me told me all I needed to know about the man. And he was happy to talk a little hoops after the game when we went to his office to get it. I will ALWAYS be a Kevin Foster fan.
  18. This. And of all the 2019 players, maybe RJ Hampton of Little Elm is the only kid in that level.
  19. Grimes going to Kansas and McDonald’s all American. Mitch is a very good player and a huge get for SFA. I believe if he would have been a fit with a Power 5 team if things had played out differently. But even with completely different positions, Grimes is on a different level. He should easily be Mr. basketball for the state of Texas this year.
  20. And to be clear, even if Silsbee beats Yates this year (and I would still make them a slight favorite), that doesn’t necessarily mean Silsbee is more talented THIS year. I think the talent level is VERY close either way and couldn’t absolutely argue either is more so. However, Silsbee’s strengths play to Yates’ weaknesses in my opinion. This potential matchup will likely come down to which team shoots it better on that given night. All things being equal (shooting-wise), give me the Tigers in fairly close affair.
  21. I’ve seen them this year and am very familiar with this group. They are very, very talented to be sure. However, Silsbee’s team last year was clearly more talented in my mind and it looks like we will find out soon enough which group is better this year. Agree with Lazeek on #23 though. He is a special kid. Only issue I have seen is Yates’ inability to utilize his strengths at times.
  22. By the way, HC beat Yates 100-87 in a game that really wasn’t that close.
