  1. At best. At worst, you get a reaction like CardinalBackers, which in truth, is not an uncommon or even unfair reaction. It is bit incredible that not one, but two schools self-report a violation, go to DEC, and then on appeal to UIL discover it was merely a clerical error. But assuming that is the case, it is even more incredible that a simple explanation such as a miscalculation of a grade wouldn’t have been discovered at the infancy of the process. It’s not that difficult to add and divide, especially for an “educator.” But regardless, I struggle with the whole forfeiture situation to begin with because the majority of those who are penalized (i.e., all but one kid on each of the teams) share no culpability and receive the brunt of the penalty. So in the end, some WOS boys and Silsbee girls who worked hard and did nothing wrong didn’t have something taken away from them that they earned. The whole thing smells but I can take solace in that.
  2. Roach is an elite perimeter defender and I’ve been impressed with Coleman’s defense as well. But it is nice to have a rim protector like Bamba.
  3. Wait, now it’s wait til not next year but year after next?? But back to the issue at hand... [Hidden Content]
  4. Sorry aggy. We thought about letting you have that one but with this Hemphill-Mapps business, we needed some position padding. But don’t worry, we’ll cull one your way soon...
  5. The irony is it’s not HF who is complaining. Probably because they were actually at the game. The people I’ve seen complain have no connection with either school, and were nowhere near the game. Some people just need a reason to complain, I guess. This started with a nice (and from what I understand from those in attendance) and well deserved compliment from a Hamshire-Fannett coach.
  6. It is not a secret I have been a Shaka fan since he was at VCU. I love relentless defense and this team is really, really good on that end of the floor. The improvement on the offensive end is making this team a real threat to win any game.
  7. Yes it is! I wish Coleman had used one of those FTs in the closing minutes of regulation vs Tech!
  8. It is hard to fathom that a team scores 100 and didn’t run up the score. But I have no doubt that is exactly what happened. It is a very tough balancing act getting your kids the minutes they need to stay sharp while trying not to embarrass your opponent. Joe Sigler in basketball and Cornell Thompson in football are among the best I’ve seen. And both are complete class acts. Sometimes you have to look at more than numbers on a computer screen (like attend a game) to understand that.
  9. Very young team. Including several freshmen. Probably has a lot to do with why there is no freshman team.
  10. He is 100 percent correct. I know several opposing players that will tell you they may be the classiest opponent in the district. They play hard but they do it without trash talking and are good sports. They are good kids but I have no doubt some of that comes from the coaches. And for those that haven’t seen both teams play this year, I am confident if Silsbee kept the foot on the gas, they score closer to 200 than 100.
  11. Thanks for the info. Makes a lot more sense how this can occur. Student should have known regardless. I would say there should be some direct reporting of failures from teacher to coach but my understanding is this is the system everyone uses. Coach pops on the computer for each players grades and checks to ensure they’re passing. Technology will be the death of us all...
  12. I don’t know that I’ve ever seen a collegiate game called that tightly and I have no idea how we managed to only lose by a buzzer beater in OT without Bamba and Coleman. I think Hamm played more in OT than he had in the entire conference schedule. Proud of how they battled to the end.
  13. Once again, I can’t imagine another person in this universe (other than the one who looks back at you in the mirror) would take your opinion over Lon Krueger, Kelvin Sampson, etc. Nor should they take mine. But it is nice to know that certain posters such as mamba, AAW, and others whose opinions I respect share mine in this evaluation. I’m not at all surprised you disagree and you comments are humorous not sorrowful. But someone who apparently holds themself in higher esteem than those guys is also not surprisingly the butt of his own joke. So please, by all means carry on. After all, there is no doubt left to remove
  14. I have zero doubt YOU can WATCH a kid over the course of a game and have a very good idea what kind of player he is. I also know you have seen this kid several times. I have seen him many times against VERY elite competition (> “big 3”). However, not every poster has your basketball acumen. And I got news for him/them, by the end of the summer, this “ok player” is going to add to that list of high D1offers. Because he can play.
  15. Good to hear. And agreed, this is gossip of the worst kind.
  16. As someone whose wife is a school teacher, parents not being involved with their child’s academic performance is as common as the reverse. In fact, more common with students who perform poorly (shocker!).
  17. Correction: Remaining 4 are home vs BC, at OF, at Silsbee, home vs LCM.
