  1. Let me just say that’s impressive. If you don’t think a 5A team losing to Falls by 16 is impressive, you haven’t seen Falls. Best team in the state.
  2. I don’t know how Lumberton had only 57 because it seemed like Gavin Whitmire had 60. Clutch 3 after clutch FT after clutch 3.
  3. OF 60 Lumberton 57 F/2OT Lathrop 23p Dischler 11p,9r Waggoner 10p,9r Catt 9p,5a,4r
  4. Oh, and the highlighted portion? You couldn’t be more spot on. The presumption of innocence has become a pipe dream in this country (sadly) and there is, in practice, the opposite attitude more often than not. I have seen innocent people charged many times. Sometimes convicted. And even when they are exonerated, often people will just remember they were charged, not the acquittal. Also, those who claim to be constitutionalists will be the first to assume someone’s guilt based on accusation. So it’s very refreshing to me that you recognize this glaring problem with due process in this country, even though the problem itself is very depressing.
  5. It's funny you commented baddog because you specifically came to mind when this question was posed. There may be many juries where you would be struck in voir dire by either kind of strike (for cause or discretionary). However, you can be on every one of my jury panels (but maybe not the actual jury ) Why? Because the dangerous ones are the ones who have strong feelings but sit there silently and don't speak up. With baddog, you not only know he will speak up, but he will do so honestly, regardless of how that may make himself appear to others. Why? Because he truly doesn't give a crap about what anyone else thinks of him. To me, load my panels up with baddogs, and we will be able to tell who can be fair and impartial.
  6. That would actually make more sense. That’s why my repost mentioned presuming he’s happy where he is. Otherwise don’t you agree? He makes $4m a year roughly. That will go up. He has as much job security as anyone. If you were making $4m at A&M and they loved you, you were basically tenured there. Would you leave to make double at a Florida or Michigan? Or Tennessee? Maybe it’s me but money is no longer an issue at those numbers. BUT if he and Boone don’t get along, that could explain it.
  7. Another SEC coach hiring a “coordinator.” He needs to send a commission to Kirby.
  8. Central should have the length and depth to make this one hard on Silsbee. (The irony is the one advantage the Tigers normally have on everyone - depth - is right now a disadvantage against everyone.). Will depend on which Jags show up. You know Silsbee will play hard no matter what. The jags are going to need a solid effort from all their key guys. If so, this one should be very close and could go either way.
  9. By the way, you have done a pretty good job of expressing the angst felt by PoC in the South when standing trial for much of our history
  10. I don’t think so anymore than it’s ever been. The voir dire process is supposed to root out prejudices. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Obviously the more skilled the advocates, the better the odds are. Besides, there are still plenty of people out there who are unbiased either way. Not everyone is as “out there” as the faithful on this board or the ones just as far out but to the left on the other side...
  11. I’m also assuming he’s happy at OSU. If so, no way I’d leave that gig. Would be hard for him to ever lose that one. Pressure probably as low as possible for a Power 5 job.
  12. This is one where there is no way I would leave okie lite if I were him. I would leverage for a raise (although reports are $8m+) but there is something to be said for the job security he has while still making several mil a year. Plus Stillwater is home. Tennessee is a better job, to be sure, but I personally wouldn’t do it. That’s a lot of money though.
  13. No question. I have no idea why he was used so sparingly, especially around the goal line, especially when he was effective when used. Maybe there was a good reason but I couldn’t figure it out. In any event, can’t blame the kid when he looked every bit the NFL type back during his first two years there. Wish him well.
  14. Without question. I think you will see a Ben Simmons type transition to the NBA as well. Bagley had been with the 2018 class throughout high school, until he decided to reclassify “up” this past year. Granted, he is now with his correct age group but only played 3 years of HS ball. But Bagley was in effect a “curve buster.” For instance, he grades at .9999 on 247 sports. The problem is, relatively speaking, with Bagley at that benchmark, the second best player in the 2018 class would need to be in the 80s by comparison. At the EYBL Peach Jam in July, scouts were saying that even with many of the top incoming HS Seniors in the country there, there was no one even close. The last HS player who graded “off the charts”? LeBron. I hadn’t seen Bagley live since he was a skilled 6-8 or 6-9 8th grader. I had seen plenty of highlights but not in a full game setting. After watching a few of Duke’s games thus far this season, I can definitely see the hype is real. Can you imagine what a 4th year Bagley would look like in college?
  15. Yeah, no idea what’s going on with them, they’ve looked terrible. Obviously, there is some turmoil going on there with recent recruiting allegations. But that team is stacked and has probably the 3rd overall pick in next year’s draft in Ayton (behind Bagley and Porter).
  16. Very impressive road win last night. The SEC is stronger this year, and early it looks like A&M and Florida will lead the way. While USC & WVU are the most “notable” early wins, don’t underestimate the Penn St. win. The Nittany Lions have a VERY strong team this year.
  17. I will say this about my Horns. They have proven they aren’t skeered of anyone and have no quit to them. Direct reflection of their coach (who some basketball challenged posters on this board have questioned since his hire in Austin.
  18. Exactly. After A&M scrimmaged Gonzaga in Colorado, the reports were the Zags were going to be very, very good again. After seeing the instant classic vs Florida the other night, those reports seemed to be very accurate. As I type this, Horns tie it up on a great steal by Osetkowski and shot by Jones. Huh? I thought AAW was giving credit to both the Zags and the Horns with his posts.
  19. You and Bert give him way too much credit with his asinine tweets. He has as much control of that mouth of his (figuratively, his little fingers literally) when he hits twitter as I do of mine at the Golden Nugget buffet
  20. Apparently even the ones of the faux NY variety are heroic. Kudos to these guys for helping one of NY’s finest in a desperate situation. [Hidden Content]
