  1. Always tough to compare a 2 to a 4 but I would agree its fairly close, especially for HS players. I tend to prefer to put my stock in the guy who starts with the ball in his hands at all levels. And while Chris will end up being a high major kid, he won't have as wide a choice as Jared had. Does that mean much come playoff time when they are playing for championships? Not really. I expect Silsbee's road will include BTW along the way again, and hopefully this time with a better result. Still going to be interesting to see what the roster will look like.
  2. In 22-3A, I tend to agree with your top 3 (and maybe 4). But why is Buna so low? Do they really not have much this year?
  3. I assumed it was Crockett because he was talking about how wild it is that they are ranked. I was actually impressed with where they ranked Kountze because it showed they actually did some homework past last season’s results. They should be highest ranked team in district and maybe only the ones with EC.
  4. That is strange. Did McDermott transfer? He’s easily the second best player in the region behind Jared and honestly BTW will be better on some nights than last year with addition by subtraction (I.e., those nights when Lewis couldn’t hit the broad side of the barn - he was going to put up his 20 shots whether he was on or not).
  5. Oh wow. Yeah that’s pretty bad.
  6. These things have always been based more on the previous season than the upcoming one for some reason. I would give the coaches a hard time but the college coaches are just as bad or worse.
  7. Really was. And Brooks is way more talented that I realized. Happy for him, especially after patiently waiting his turn behind Bijan and Roschon. Most kids in this day and age would have hit the portal after the first year.
  8. It should because that’s probably my favorite play of his and I’m god awful at picking games. I also really liked his Penn State game.
  9. Nice try. “Us?” would be curiosity. “Us???” is you thought you knew something. 😂🤣
  10. My wife and her whole family graduated from there. My office is in the district and I pay taxes there. So I have more connections to the stangs than you do to your handle, “Aggies”AreWe. Any more questions I can help you with sport?
  11. They had a chance to beat Silsbee and PNG, among others, in spite of the train wrecks in head sets. Give this one up buddy. When they give Silsbee a run in one of the basketball games this year (as they normally do), is that due to Silsbee having a lack of talent or Sig being outcoached? But you are right about WOS being in their down time. It’s just not lack of talent that put them there. Speaking of, since it’s just a talent deficiency, we will happily allow you guys to have an alum back on the tiger sideline after you so graciously loaned him to us.
  12. Not your best take This would be the correct one.
  13. I agree with Whs about how well they will be coached and will be very competitive. And the sophomore kid has a chance to be one of the better players in the district. But they may be a couple of years away from being win two or three playoff games good. The 8th grade group should be even better than last year’s senior class, which was probably the best overall group I’ve seen at OF in the last 20ish years.
  14. The irony is their best shot was years later
  15. Heck, for some reason I was thinking they were twins. I just remember you giving pops the business 😂
  16. Ahhh. Wasn’t sure and couldn’t remember. Yeah he can’t count if he never played varsity basketball there.
  17. He truly was. You two are cut from the same ilk. I didn’t always agree with him like I don’t always agree with you. But I respect(ed) the hell out of both of you. I miss and think of him all the time.
  18. Does Jordan Hunter count?
  19. Heck I thought you were at least 60. Primarily because I often relate to your posts which I assumed made you an “old head” (as my kids like to say) like me.
  20. I’m always conflicted with these two. I grew up near the metroplex but I’ve now spent more than half of my life down here. When they were in opposite leagues it was easy. And I’ve always rooted for Houston as well. But after the Rangers have taken on Creed as their hype song, I just can’t in good conscience support such a mediocre at best attempt to join that craze. Go ‘Stros!
  21. He’s got to be trolling at this point. No one is this slow.
  22. Not at all. I’m just stating why myself and others often don’t discuss those schools in our very subjective lists. We are just drumming up discussions that interest us and those schools generally don’t. But if we are doing “official” polls, I agree with you that it would need to include schools in our current coverage area, especially since they are district mates with those all of us consider “local.” Does that make sense?
  23. The last AD was about as bad as one can imagine on so many levels. I still hope the hires he made that are still around find success but he was just a disaster. The new guy O’Malley seems like a good guy and learned under a really top notch AD at Marshall. I like him. But I REALLY like Dr Taylor and what he and his wife have brought to Lamar and Beaumont. To me, he was an absolute home run hire by the BoR and one of his main goals was to revive the athletic programs. I truly hope he has a long career here.
  24. Glad it’s not just me. I think I even prefer Herbstreit to him.
  25. That’s kind of where I land. If you want to include any sub 5As other than Silsbee, you can’t list the Atasccitas, Summer Creeks, etc. And come playoff time when our schools are eliminated, I don’t think most of us have a rooting interest in them like we do with United or Silsbee or Memorial.
