East Chambers 59 Bridge City 40/FINAL

I love sitting behind his bench and watching/listening to him coach. He is just one of the greats and is always so generous with his time in discussing the game. And as classy as they come. -

Does anyone know the current career win count for Coach Sutherland? We were talking about this last night. I remember him hitting 600 a few years ago but haven’t heard anything since. Has he passed 700 already? -

Cypress Falls 84 Port Arthur Memorial 68/FINAL

Ummm, I would have favored them over Sam Houston last year. And I guess I would have won since they won state. And they have everyone back. I like Kendric too. He’s definitely one of the elite PGs in Houston, he’s no Grimes but he’s right at the top of that next group. I’d prefer a little less of the BS that he sometimes gets himself caught up in, but the kid is absolutely a gamer. His team is not as deep or talented as Falls, although they are better this year. But I do think they are probably the second best team from the Houston area. -

No doubt. And by comparison, the second best team I’ve seen this year may be SA Wagner. To me, they was just as good with superior guard play to Austin Westlake (who was nationally ranked). And the Wagner-Falls game was very similar to this one, close game until Falls pulled away to win by a similar margin in the 2H. -

No one is saying that or saying they get a participation medal. But playing the best team in the state Toe to Toe until they pull away at the end is impressive. To say otherwise is just posting to be posting on a message board -
They should imo. And I think they will. But the committee and networks do not want two SEC products if they can avoid it. TV was a big Bama fan on Saturday. The more chaos the better though. Sooner they move it and settle on 8, the better. 5 Power 5 champs, 3 at large. One of at large has to be a mid major assuming 1 or less losses. Let them play the one seed every year, just to prove why they never got in before the field expansion.

Gundy impressed me more by the minute. Besides, even if he hates Boone, that Codger is supposedly in very poor health. Mullet will be coaching the pokies long after he’s gone. But you bring up a good point, his hair would actually be a positive in the SEC. A pan of the crowds often looks like that “People of Walmart” website.

Orangefield 60 Lumberton 57/FINAL - 2 OT
TxHoops replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Boys Basketball
No one new. But they have 10 seniors which is kind of unheard of for a school that size. That group has always outperformed the classes ahead of them. Half as talented and twice as good is what I’ve always said. They have played together since they were little and play well together. Tonight was a night where they really struggled, especially shooting the ball. By far the poorest they’ve shot it through 3 games and a couple scrimmages. But they gutted it out and got a W. What would have been a 20 pt loss a year ago was a 3 pt win tonight. Very entertaining game - Whitmire from Lumberton was sensational. The only big shot I saw him miss was a three at the end of Double Ot that rimmed out. Hit a game tying 3 at the end of regulation and big FTs at the end of the first OT to keep the Raiders alive. As RaiderGirl correctly noted, was a hard fought game and both teams left it all on the floor. -

From Earl himself. Gary needs to do the update on his iPad but you get the gist. [Hidden Content]

The only 4A team that will beat Silsbee is Silsbee. If they play as a team, there is no reason they shouldn’t repeat. And no dumb crap. Worry about you and your team and there is nothing the other guys can do about it. -

Let me just say that’s impressive. If you don’t think a 5A team losing to Falls by 16 is impressive, you haven’t seen Falls. Best team in the state. -

I don’t know how Lumberton had only 57 because it seemed like Gavin Whitmire had 60. Clutch 3 after clutch FT after clutch 3. -

Oh, and the highlighted portion? You couldn’t be more spot on. The presumption of innocence has become a pipe dream in this country (sadly) and there is, in practice, the opposite attitude more often than not. I have seen innocent people charged many times. Sometimes convicted. And even when they are exonerated, often people will just remember they were charged, not the acquittal. Also, those who claim to be constitutionalists will be the first to assume someone’s guilt based on accusation. So it’s very refreshing to me that you recognize this glaring problem with due process in this country, even though the problem itself is very depressing.

It's funny you commented baddog because you specifically came to mind when this question was posed. There may be many juries where you would be struck in voir dire by either kind of strike (for cause or discretionary). However, you can be on every one of my jury panels (but maybe not the actual jury ) Why? Because the dangerous ones are the ones who have strong feelings but sit there silently and don't speak up. With baddog, you not only know he will speak up, but he will do so honestly, regardless of how that may make himself appear to others. Why? Because he truly doesn't give a crap about what anyone else thinks of him. To me, load my panels up with baddogs, and we will be able to tell who can be fair and impartial.

That would actually make more sense. That’s why my repost mentioned presuming he’s happy where he is. Otherwise don’t you agree? He makes $4m a year roughly. That will go up. He has as much job security as anyone. If you were making $4m at A&M and they loved you, you were basically tenured there. Would you leave to make double at a Florida or Michigan? Or Tennessee? Maybe it’s me but money is no longer an issue at those numbers. BUT if he and Boone don’t get along, that could explain it.
