  1. Ali technically worked for the WBC and WBA since he needed them to sanction any championship fights. Granted, these players work for a different 3 lettered organization. I’m sure the Patriots would take a different stance on whether Tom is at work when he is in the locker room, or preparing on their facilities. As for Goodell, you do know that he’s merely a puppet for the owners, right? His view on the first amendment couldn’t be more irrelevant lol
  2. I don’t disagree with anything you said here, basically. Personally, although it’s probably more than 10 (and I’m sure you were just using a number), your point in the previous post is well taken. The vast, vast majority of cops do an excellent job and have my respect. I have cops who are friends, clients, etc, so I could never participate in anything disrespecting their honorable profession. (I also know some who aren’t so honorable but that’s a different issue.) Therefore, I disagree largely with the message and think it’s also a bit misguided. But I also support their right to bring it and I am sure many bring it with conviction. I respect that also. But I equate the racist cop who kills to the priest/clergy who molest children. A few bad apples shouldn’t spoil the whole bunch, so to speak. I also personally believe that the mass protest a week ago Sunday had more to do with a tweet from the Tweeter-in-Chief than it had to do with any so-called cause. Maybe I’m wrong but the comments and timing would support that theory, I think.
  3. So is it this or are do we need to discuss the socks again? Because on your first point, you seemed to absolutely believe they didn’t (not an individual sport, sock jibberish). Now you are saying they have “every right” just as you have the right to boycott. On that we absolutely agree.
  4. Making a delineation of an individual athlete vs one in a team sport? Arguing athletes supporting political candidates is “not anyway relevant” or a “dumb” comparison when the post I quoted directly commented on athletes “offering political opinions”? i will say that you really tried. But in so doing, you inadvertently, precisely (and obviously unknowingly) made my point. If you don’t get that, again, not surprising.
  5. I’m not shocked it didn’t make any sense to you. Most of your response didn’t make any sense and was largely irrelevant. Another guy that loves the 2nd amendment but the first only matters if you agree with the message. But your Aggies have done a good job leading the charge.
  6. Nor is there a clause saying they can’t. Muhammad Ali was despised by millions in his career because he spoke about social and political issues. I heard him called the N word many times. My dad was a Foreman fan - he loved all things Texas. But he also spoke highly of Ali taking a stand for what he believed in, even though he and Ali actually agreed on very little. And Ali died an American Icon who was revered by most. You guys can claim what you want, but it’s not the act that pisses you off, it’s the message. I get that. But let’s stop with the “I wish athletes would shut up and play” and “I wish Hollywood would shut up and act.” I doubt any of you were offended by Tom Brady’s open support of Trump, or Clint Eastwood’s support of Romney. Charlton Heston was beloved by the GOP for his activism. But if someone doesn’t agree with you... I get the difference with the anthem issue. I don’t personally care but I get it. But unlike a lot of hypocrites, it has nothing to do with the message. In fact, although I don’t personally agree obviously, I had a greater respect for Brady during the last election. He was wearing a MAGA hat in a place where it was incredibly unpopular. Wasn’t an easy thing to do, I’m sure.
  7. Good that it’s in Lincoln. Wisconsin has been really impressive thus far.
  8. Word is unlikely Connor will return this season. If so, very likely he’s played his last game as a Longhorn.
  9. [Hidden Content] No surgery for Connor. Sounds like it may still be awhile before we regain his much needed services though.
  10. SEC is down this year. Coaching and QB play have continued to drop. I’m not saying Bama isn’t the best team in CFB - I would probably take them against anyone, SEC or not. But I tend to agree with AAW that they won’t be challenged until the conference championship game, maybe not until the playoffs.
  11. I would get that extension done for Sumlin now. You don’t want all those other suitors to come calling after they run the table.

  13. Gotcha. Sounded crazy when I read it. But makes sense now.
  14. It’s sneaker companies in basketball. Definitely a different animal. There is not near the money in any sport other than basketball in shoes. Bron & KD make more than 30 mil a year in sneaker endorsements alone. Bryce Harper signed the biggest shoe deal in baseball history with UA for one million a year over 10 years. A million a year is also a great deal for football. Kids don’t buy cleats to wear to school. But walk the halls and see how many Kobe’s or Jordans you see. Football is more of a booster issue, as Mack was saying. By the way, has nothing to do with AAU which is an organization that sponsors all kinds of youth sports. So far Adidas and Nike, which have circuits along with UA, have garnered most of the attention.
  15. Gotcha. I know I don’t know half of what you do re: what goes on over there. The one concern I would have versus last year is the leadership lost, especially with a couple of the seniors. Always a risk of a team with so much talent and personalities gelling. Hopefully the kids and Coach Sigler will get it figured out.
  16. If you want to try and “keep up with the Joneses,” might want to start with running water... #topnotchfacilities
  17. SECond to none because SECond is way too high lol
  18. Two really good players, one is easily one of the top 5 HS players in the greater Houston area. Fall ball means very little. Silsbee losing a couple of games against 6A schools without their football guys would concern me exactly zero if I’m a Silsbee fan. But I know you always want to win when you keep score. Against SH especially, that is one of the few times will play someone who has better guard play.
