  1. The sophomore that high jumped 6-4 (Sherwood) plays too huh? They have tons of athletes.
  2. I know. Just saying. Still playing up against really strong kids.
  3. Little old 3A basketball state champs Hitchcock with wins over Silsbee and Jasper in pool play.
  4. I have a hard time picking anyone but Braelon. But I also have never seen the older guys (MacArthur, Stallworth, etc) play so I’m definitely not qualified to vote. Of the guys in the last 15 years, Bush would be my pick but if this year’s team could win it, I might go Harris. Always was very partial to McCain. His game against Carter for all the marbles was one for the ages. But for a similar performance by Bush against Yates, I might even have Devon up top. But Bush’s career numbers would have to make him my choice from the recent guys.
  5. I saw a recent poll of Texans of their favorite and least favorite states. Not surprisingly, Texas was overwhelmingly our favorite state. Equally unsurprisingly, California was the least favorite state. It did hurt my heart a bit that Oklahoma wasn’t closer as the second least favorite state. (I want to say California got in the high 50s of the vote and land thieves got high teens).
  6. I miss my friend. More than once I’ve picked up the phone to text him and had to put it back down. Jimmy was an incredible human being. I’m happy he’s back with the love of his life though. As you know, he was lost those last couple of months without her.
  7. And by the way @Reagan, I personally know of an event by one of the major sneaker companies that was moved from Chicago to Vegas this summer, and a lot of the discussion revolved around the safety for kids. I realize this one event may not move the needle for a city the size of the Windy City but makes me wonder what kind of tourism dollars they are losing due to this nonsense. I know several people I’ve talked to, and I’m sure several of you guys, who have told me they won’t go there. The folks there, especially the “woke” crowd, needs to wake the you-know-what up.
  8. I don’t believe so - Catt for sure was not. All 3 mentioned from OF were really good ones. I’m biased toward the cousins, Ragusa and Catt, but I’m also very fond of the Farias brothers. I will say that Chris Ford is a name that is thrown around a lot in the community as one of the best but he was before my time here. However, someone who grew up competing against Chris and whose opinion I respect told me Ragusa was better. I gotta go with him because he is very familiar with both and most of us tend to inflate the “good old days” over the present. Now give us your EC pick! I’m partial to 3rd but that choice will almost be as tough as Silsbee and Kountze.
  9. Bold but not ridiculous. Sweeping a Sutherland coached team rarely happens so that would be as tough or tougher than winning two playoff games. But I wouldn’t be shocked if your prediction rings true.
  10. It would be almost be comical if people weren’t dying because of it. That city is a dumpster fire. A shame too because it was once one of the great American cities.
  11. Good time to buy real estate in Orange for sure.
  12. Lincoln? Gotta be BJ I would think. Steve would be in the debate had he stayed.
  13. Yeah wasn’t sure either. Loved his game though.
  14. To say the least. Hard for me to narrow it to 5.
  15. Where would you have Harper? Man I loved watching him play.
  16. In all fairness, the Longhorns will likely finish 2nd to Ohio State, narrowly missing a 3 peat for the Director’s Cup for the best athletic department in the country. Just a few spots above aggy who sit at a respectable 50th.
  17. Brother Lincoln finish 8th and Bobcats finish 4th as a team. Congrats to Xander and all the Bobcats!
  18. Have seen and loved that bit. He’s absolutely right. And brings up a more important issue than sold out arenas. Television eyes. Until women start watching women’s sports with the same frequency as BRAVO TV, the ladies aren’t getting a big ESPN, TNT or whomever deal. That’s, of course, why these men are making $40M a year. It’s not because the owner’s just value them more.
  19. Just started watching a mini-series about the pro women’s soccer team in LA. Much of the opening episode was about the disparity in pay between men’s and women’s sports. But I’ve never seen where this isn’t market driven. The women in basketball can make 10x or more playing overseas, presumably because women’s basketball is more popular there. I wish they could make more money to play here too but until they figure out how to sell out arenas, it’s not going to happen.
  20. The Parks brothers sit at 2nd and tied for 3rd after Xander shot 70 and Lincoln 73 on Day 1 yesterday. Bobcats sit at 3rd as a team with a cumulative score of 311. Good luck Cats as you cap off a monumental year for Orangefield sports.
  21. Texas A&M is now 0-7 against Texas during the 2022-23 Athletic Season. W Soccer, L (1-3) M S&D, L (80-220) W S&D, L (89-209) M Tennis, L (2-5) Baseball, L (1-3) Softball, L (1-2) Softball, L (5-11)
  22. Yeah heard it from a reliable source who would not complain otherwise. I doubt his “feelings were hurt.”
