  1. LCM pays better. And he will have better players there overall on a consistent basis. Would love to have him but pretty sure he wouldn’t be interested.
  2. Maybe so. Have no idea honestly. Nor do I know if he would be interested. Looks like his training business is starting to boom. For good reason.
  3. This. More so than ever. Teacher’s in higher demand than almost any profession. Wonder if there’s a way to solve that.
  4. Certification is easy assuming he graduated Lamar. As you know, it’s not like getting certified as a peace officer, etc. Essentially pay some money and pass a test. They hire people all the time (at OF at least, with understanding they will get certified in whatever time frame grace period TEA or whomever dictates
  5. 2 deepest runs in school history two (both third round). Those two teams each had a historically good player for Orangefield which always helps. But he probably had the most 6 year tenure of any coach in program history. Good guy too - wish him the best.
  6. Thought about Weisbrod. Personally would love that.
  7. It wasn’t you, it was Johnny in the post quoted. But it sounds like what I suspected, there wasn’t a ton of interest in the job and it came down to two people. The job was given to the only one who had head coaching experience AND the only one with GIRLS coaching experience. Hardly an out of left field hire if that’s the case. But your points are well taken and fair enough. We both want the same thing. The girls to have success and be guided by someone with character who will positively impact their lives. I believe that is KJ, you have your reservations and I’m not saying you are unreasonable to have them. But I truly believe you and others will be pleasantly surprised. I will say that I’ve posted more on the girls basketball board in this thread than I have the whole board since I’ve been a member! Go Lady Cougars!
  8. P No one acted like that. You act like Buna women are the equivalent of UConn. To you and @gogo173489, sorry they didn’t hire someone with a whole one year of boys’ assistant coaching experience, none as a head coach and none with girls (other than “helping” from the bench at boys games). Since we are only discussing these two, tells me a lot about who was interested in this job. They didn’t hire someone that is from Buna. That’s why you guys are upset. I get it. As stated, I wish Remi all the best. My guess is if he was willing to switch to girls to stay in Buna, he will still be available in the future. Maybe he will get the boys job when the next coach gets run off.
  9. Was supposed to be there in July for a basketball event. Got switched to Las Vegas. You can imagine how happy I was, for many reasons.
  10. Wondering if anyone realizes (they didn’t when they were complaining about Tic on this site) that Price was the third most successful D1 basketball coach in Lamar’s history behind Tubbs and Foster. But don’t let facts get in the way of narratives.
  11. A) He was never a GA at Lamar (student manager) and let us know how that went? Making it to the conference tournament semi finals his last year? Or how he was exceptional at his job? I guess since you guys are experts, you have done more than look at MaxPreps to see what kind of teams he had? B ) The RC Hyden days aren’t likely coming again. I like the Connell family too but it appears that you all are advocating for hiring someone who also has limited experience coaching high school basketball, and not on the girl’s side. THAT would smack of local politics. C) In the end, if he doesn’t work out, you can move on. It’s girl’s Hs basketball. Not like you had to lock him in to a 10 year deal. Let’s wish him well and see what he can do. He’s a bright, energetic young man who knows the game. Give him a chance. If you do, I think you will be pleased.
  12. I think you guys will be very pleased with Coach Johnson. He will be great for the program and the community.
  13. Junior Lofton goes for 42 & 14 a day or two after signing a 4 year/$7m deal with Memphis. Memphis had to sign him to a regular contract (instead of the 2 way/g league deal) in order to be able to use him for the playoffs (and Steven Adams is out for the year). The Griz only played 6 guys, but I still have to wonder if he got that opportunity before they signed him to the deal, how that would have affected his contract. Gotta think it would be at least double. Still, huge day for Junior and a great opportunity for him going forward.
  14. Gig ‘em Ags and Sam Bennett. One of the best golf stories I’ve ever seen. I will forever be a fan. [Hidden Content]
  15. Am very proud of our Bobcat on it. But my personal opinion is that if you aren’t going to include everyone (within a classification, etc.), kind of makes the list a bit of a joke. Like having an All American college team with only players from Adidas schools. Just my opinion though. Still an honor but if you are going to do it THSCA, do it right.
  16. That’s what I assumed when no Hitchcock guys were on the team and even more glaring, no Harris on the 4A team or Yates on the 6A team.
  17. I would say they are thinking two moves ahead and intentionally bolstering trump to have him as their opponent. But we all know that can’t possibly be true. Your statement is the far more accurate obviously.
  18. I don’t think Biden can beat DeSantis. I don’t think Trump can beat anyone. This is literally going to come down to which idiots in which party prevail. But in politics, we are an eternity away. Who knows what changes between now and then.
  19. These refs have ruined this game. And I’m rooting for Lsu.
  20. Great thing about the women’s college game, don’t have to worry about them leaving. They make more in college than in WNBA. They can make some serious dough overseas but I’m sure Ms Clark will be back.
  21. Best player in college basketball. Period.
  22. Except it was a lawsuit settlement so it was “legal.” I know, I know. Same concept, different delivery. There is a legal distinction, which often makes no sense in practicality.
