  1. Vidor won by about 13 I was told. Don't have a score. Without the Quirante brothers I might add (who are at their brother's wedding).
  2. OF Stats: Caleb Kress 20p, 9r Payton Lathrop 15p, 6r, 4a Aven Lathrop 14p Alex Catt 12p, 12r, 3a
  3. Maybe you can also enlighten us on how Kryzewski and Dean Smith were bad hires until they started winning. After all, each had exactly one season with a winning record in their first three seasons at Duke and UNC, respectively. You can form your arguments on those wins and losses over those seasons. After all, it's your best bet when you are unable to discern what you're watching. Here's a hint though: when you are among the elitest of recruiters and are a top Xs and Os guy, you are what we call a "home run hire." But keep making the goofy remarks and implying he's not. But stick around for a few years. I will be here to tell you over and over and over "I told you so." Kind of like the week or so you had fun with "zero chance." But keep touching that stove, Bart. Gives me something to look forward to
  4. He coached another man's team that consistently improved over the course of the season. He lost in the first round on a half court prayer to a team that unfortunately didn't puke up a double digit lead like they did the next round. He brought in two McD All Americans this year but did not land a PG. Hopefully that will change with Coleman. Every coach said it would be a struggle early this year with the makeup of the team. It happens. But for you to imply he wasn't a great hire is laughable to anyone with more than a rudimentary knowledge of the game. He won the CBI in his first year at VCU as one of the youngest coaches in the country. He proceeded to guide them into the NCAAs each year after that, including a final four appearance in a year they had to play in one of the "play in" games. Shaka, despite the first 12 games of this year, is a great coach. Again, for you to argue otherwise just embodies what most come to expect from aggyland when it comes to hoops. A complete bewilderment.
  5. This post shows a glaring lack of understanding for the game which couldn't surprise me less. If you don't know Shaka Smart is a great coach, I suggest picking a sport that moves a little slower to try and comprehend. Picking a 12 game sample size where your two best players are 18 or 19 years old in your second season is small-minded at best. Just be a man and admit you don't know your behind from your elbow when it comes to hoops. It really is the first step.
  6. And congrats to you all for finding yet another conference in which to be totally irrelevant once the September cupcake schedule passeth...
  7. Your schtick is either tired or ignorant. I don't know one Aggie who actually knows and understands the game (and I know they are few and far between) that wouldn't trade Kennedy for Shaka in a heartbeat. And I like Kennedy and think he's done a great job in aggieland. But stop with the Charlie comparisons. It just sounds dumb. Unless that's the Aggie stereotype you're trying to perpetuate. In which case fire away!
  8. Hate missing out on him. As you can guess from the final 5, we were a virtual lock to land him with Charlie. And as I stated early this fall, another school in Texas has zero chance to land him. I'm rooting for him; he's a great kid. Unless he goes to OU of course. Coach O is likely to land him. And even with that stellar defense he already has, Marvin will be an immediate game changer.
  9. Shaka struggling to find some chemistry with this group. In desperate need of a Pg. Playing 2s at 1 isn't working well. Matt Coleman from Oak Hill would be an absolute game changer for the Horns. Let's hope the crystal ball is correct...
  10. Aggy gives extensions after bottom half finishes. Just like when they were consistently finishing in the bottom half of the Big XII...
  11. This. It is inevitable. Not even worth an I told you so. All but the most delusional of aggys are taking a cue from their distinguished alumni Clayton Williams...
  12. True, true. Just saying though. And in all fairness from what I'm told, this is not just basketball. Even in academic endeavors (such as UIL, one act play, etc.), and even in its facilities, Silsbee ISD tends to invest more in its kids than its district mates...
  13. It's all relative. I would venture to say Silsbee probably has double the basketball budget of any other team in the district. Maybe even more.
  14. They are still much deeper than SP. When they play, after Jones and Sam, the next best 8-10 players in the game will be Rebels. Losing Mackey does hurt because he is so active and plays strong. But they will be fine.
  15. Sabine Pass will be right there and probably has the two best players in the district. I would give Evadale an edge though due to depth.
  16. Oh I didn't think it was intentional, except for one spurt when one of the three officials seemed to get his feelings hurt amd couldn't stop blowing his whistle. Baffling is a good word. Two things in particular. First, with the call I was referencing, it was apparent they didn't know what a moving screen was. Tarkington was wisely using that to their advantage but on that play, with the screener moving more like a football left tackle and blocking the defender, the defensive player used his hands to get around him and was whistled for a foul. The noncall was worse than the call and it was the most blatant moving screen of the night. Then in the game before, with the same crew, there was a call I'd never seen before (because it doesn't exist). One of the refs called a "defensive charging." When the coach thought he must have heard wrong and asked for clarification, the ref confirmed the call. I agree I don't think it was malicious at all. The problem was that 2 of the three in the crew obviously didn't even know the rules of the game. To be fair, they blew a couple of calls late against Tarkington as well. If you guys get equal or worse than that regularly, I feel for you. It was hard to watch.
  17. Sometimes. Sometimes more like the old lady in that old commercial...
  18. Absolutely. Keep plugging away. Definitely making some big strides. And I would imagine EC is getting pretty salty about now. Young team but it doesn't take Sutherland long to get his boys playing good basketball. Hall of famers tend to do that...
