Silsbee 124 Hamshire-Fannett 62/FINAL
TxHoops replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Boys Basketball
Good to get those kids extra minutes. As has been evidenced, there is not a lot separating teams 2-5 in this district. Those four teams will likely be single digit margins of victory when they play each other. Which means Silsbee should literally win every game in district by 30 or 40+ points. Sigler has to keep his players as sharp as possible through this stretch. Sounds like he played it perfectly to me. Pour it on through 3 quarters and then distribute additional minutes to the end of the bench. Silsbee is in the same district quandary that WOS has been in for football. They spend several weeks not getting legitimately tested. Let's hope their season ends in the same fashion the Mustangs' did. It is theirs for the taking imo. -

McCain was special last night. That is some kind of stat line. Kress had 13. Wondered what was off between my numbers and yours and realized yours for OF equal 63 pts. Still don't know how you call the game and keep the stats, all by yourself. Most of us need a spotter to do one!

Well if you want to try reading comprehension, read the comment about the Huffman game. Obviously HJ is a better team than OF. But OF is much improved, primarily with coaching (which was noticed tonight by some astute Silsbee folks). But you pointed out Silsbee played better tonight than Tuesday. Just making an observation that the two games this week had similar margins of victory.

The whole 5 points difference in opponents? Also, OF had a chance to beat huffman on the road Tuesday (who beat HJ @ HJ tonight) but had to play most of the second half without one of their best players.

Correct (although it was closer to 20). And Yates is still the biggest threat to Silsbee in the region imo. -

I agree completely. The Houston school are, by and large, way down. The reverse argument could be made; the introduction of more private, Prep, and homeschool teams make the Houston schools weaker than a rural school of the same size. Wheatley, for instance, would arguably at least have the most talented starting 5 in the region if all who lived there and started HS there remained. They maybe have one of those kids left. Yates could be a significant hurdle. They would have the most athletic kid on the floor who will also be a few inches taller than any Silsbee kid. And the Hughes kid has come into his own and is really playing well, leading the Lions in scoring. They have enough to complement those two that they won't be a pushover. Silsbee would definitely be favored but they will have to be ready to play. -

IF healthy, this will not be Silsbee's best team. The best team will be the 2018-2019 team. May not be as deep, but it will be the best. -
The entire south end zone student section at DKR did the same chant during the football game this year. They are adjacent to the southeast visitors section. The Baylor fans just standing and staring was pretty amusing.

Imo, Landyn is probably the most underrated player on the roster. He and Bush always played extremely well together prior to HS and "fed" off each other well. Like Bush, I love his energy and intensity at both ends of the floor. On every other team in the district, he would be a starter and one of the best players on the team. He will be a big part of the Tigers future for sure. -
LCM by 15. I will say that the 2 through 5 spots in this district are a lot closer than most may think. Any of those teams are very capable of beating any of the others. That being said, LCM would be the consensus for the 2 spot in district.

I have a feeling Silsbee will be just fine If anything, will give some non-starters more of a run than they have been getting in the gauntlet of a schedule Silsbee has played. -
