  1. With what is on the line for a 5* wide receiver in this day and age, he probably should be done with basketball period. Otherwise he’s doing some high stakes gambling.
  2. Very true. And I know most of us will never forget that Yates game in Huntsville. And Devon McCain’s performance against Carter in the State Championship game was one for the ages and one of the all time great performances at state.
  3. I’m admittedly very biased on several fronts here but Jabari Rice is everything I love about college basketball. [Hidden Content]
  4. I’ve heard Will as well but he’s also being linked to a job in Texas. Have also heard Beard.
  5. Some of y’all told me this group was going to be as good or better than the Adams, McCain, Bush group. I found that hard to believe. Results aside, that has never passed the eye test with me. Thought it was unfair to this group to put that type of weight on their shoulders. Still do. Really good bunch who still has one more year to leave their mark and I hope they do. But as I said when they were coming in as freshman. Really good group of kids but let’s slow our roll. They aren’t THAT. Conversely, we did have a group that does meet or surpass that group. And they are COACHED by a Silsbee guy. Go get that three peat Wolves!
  6. Good thing Hitchcock got to play the Bobcats from Orangefield. Otherwise they wouldn’t have been tested before state. And yes, I know Lorena played them almost as close but Orangefield had them on the ropes for a good portion of that game.
  7. Well I got the line right, just the wrong team. Great season Tigers.
  8. Looks about right. Would have said Silsbee -6 honestly.
  9. So it’s Silsbee against the only team to have beaten United this year. I would favor Silsbee regardless. If they get Booker T’s best though, they lose. But BTW rarely plays their best.
  10. They have one. Not at that level. But Jabari is doing just fine 😉
  11. It will all be there. If you can get a couple blue bloods fighting each other, hell he might be able to retire after college! But yes - let’s just worry about Furr for now.
  12. Yes. Ironically, he got most of his offers after playing with Silsbee in Duncanville last summer. In this day and age, to have the amount of offers he has is almost unheard of not playing with a sneaker team. NCAA setting that up last year gave him an enormous amount of steam. Texas and many others offered after watching the Tigers play a few high level opponents in D’ville. He deserves every bit of it. Kid can absolutely go.
  13. And I believe next year is when all 13 UNC scholarship players will have a base of $1M per year. You can bet the Kentucky’s and Kansas’ of the world won’t be far behind. So it could be worth closer to $2M (with the actual scholarship) if he plays his cards right.
  14. That’s on top of the scholarship. Have two kids that signed with Kansas and will be in the freshman class next fall. Both are top 100 and one is ranked lower in his class (in the 70s or 80s depending on the service) than Harris. I’m pretty familiar with the state of NiL money in Lawrence. So make that scholarship worth 1.2 to 1.5 million. That’s assuming Jared gets what the going rate is. On the other hand, some that are around him let’s just say might be a little suspect and might have their hand out too (NOT his family). So I’m speculating in that regard.
  15. That’s worth anywhere from 500-800k. Maybe more by his class.
  16. I’m going to go ahead and ask it but does anyone else think Davis is the most underrated coach in SETX? I understand we are blessed to have 4 absolute legends who are locks to be Hall of Famers. And then you have guys like Foster and English who are as good as it gets too. But Clay’s teams win 25-30 games a year consistently. And I seem to see more criticism than praise for him on here. In a region incredibly blessed in terms of HS basketball coaches, he deserves to be in the conversation of the great coaches here.
  17. Look we all want Kountze to be back. I’ve said before SETX basketball is better when the Lions are good. But for point of reference, since Orangefield has dropped down, I think they are like 5-1 against Kountze and the 5 wins have all been beat downs, including two 20+ pieces this year. So to have 2 of the 4 superlatives go to a team that couldn’t even make the top half of the district is a little laughable. Surely someone in that room felt that way. And maybe no one wanted to speak up and tell Joub his team just wasn’t very good.
  18. No I really believe nekkid pictures were circulating at the all district meeting 🙄
  19. This is why Silsbee and other SETX teams such as United and Memorial have had such great success against Houston teams that are arguably more talented. It is also why Houston teams struggle, in general, against teams from the metroplex. I’ve watched arguments on here for years about facilities, etc. But as has always been the case in sports, very often it comes down to the toughest kids win. Mentally, physically, whatever. And Silsbee will be the toughest team at that regional.
