  1. With three wins against basically division 2 schools. And no, I thought you meant exactly what I said because you made that comment in response to a post of mine that said everyone was "picking" A&M. As if to argue that wasn't the case, everyone was betting on Bama. But I will take your word for it that you were agreeing with me that the "smart money" was on Bama. My apologies for misconstruing your comment.
  2. Fair question. I just don't know that those sort of links are frowned upon on this site. I found that information on scoresandodds. They have a section called "betting trends" that lists the public percentages on most teams and many of the totals. When a line moves one way yet the vast majority of the public is playing the other side, you know the big money is on the "steam." I know the "covers" site also posts that information. I always preferred the former because it was easier to navigate to me with less ads.
  3. No you said "all the early money." Had you said "big money," it would have indicated you knew what you were talking about. And it was in response to a comment I made about the commentators loving A&M at +17, which typically means take the other side. But thanks for letting me know that $100 doesn't move the line since that's exactly what my post was about. At least you are learning; definitely puts you ahead of the aggy curve... On the bright side, you do have New Mexico State and Texas State coming up to add to that Prairie View A&M win, all of which should be super impressive come committee time. I'm sure even with one loss.
  4. Hopefully they send their "A" team this year. They were supposed to be in it last year and sent the B team.
  5. But what Mamba and I both know (and he doesn't want to admit) is this is precisely the type of team he loves. No stars, everyone playing together and selflessly. Not going to mention any names but Ozen lost a piece that would have made them even better IMO but they also had some addition by subtraction. I think this team has a chance to come together and be very, very good. And from what I am hearing (Lord help me I sound like Trump), they are well on their way. I don't know how they will do in the region but they are the district favorite IMO. But any of those top 4 in district have the chance to win it.
  6. What the heck is going on here?? I'm arguing how good Ozen is and Mamba is downplaying them. We have entered Bizarro World!!!!
  7. Not at all what it means but I guess I will educate you. 66% of betting public on aggy. Which means only 34% is on Bammer. (With me so far?). So why on earth has the line moved a point and a half Bammer's way? That makes no sense! Here's why:. Because the sharps are on Bama. Or the big money. Or the smart money. This is probably the best indicator of which way to bet. Bet against Joe Schmo and bet with the sharks in Vegas who do it for a living. When you see a game where the vast majority of folks are betting on one side but the line is moving in their favor, this is what is occurring. And that's a game you play if you do that sort of thing. I prefer 70-80 percent but those are few and far between. This one is close enough. Chumps lose their money; Bama "beats the hell out of aggy." This concludes the lesson for the day...
  8. Junior. And i think he's started since week 1. Played last year for Kelly.
  9. All the talking heads love A&M +17. And you know what that means. Pigeon play alert. Bama wins easy...
  10. Well duh. That's what happens when you overrate an entire conference.
  11. Bush's guard play will be as good as anyone's. Guess it will depend on whether it's enough. I wouldn't bet against a Sam return to SA though.
  12. I have to believe your assessment on the reason why makes the most sense. Either that or complete incompetence. No reason to make that a first round matchup in a tournament that has THIRTY-TWO teams. Hope Silsbee shocks the heck out of them...would be hilarious to see one of their big boys start out in the consolation bracket.
  13. I would bump Ozen (upward pretty good), the rest of his looks just about right.
  14. I think she wants to be close enough for momma and daddy to see her play more often. And Baylor has one of the better women's programs anyway. Either way, congrats to Lexi on a great accomplishment!
  15. THIS! The only way to make a strict bracket play tournament worth it is to field the number of teams like the SAISD does (I think 32). It's going to be hard to get that in Beaumont and if you did, you're going to need a lot more gyms than what they use, especially with the girls' tourney going on at the same time. Going to pool play is the best quick fix they can do. I also agree that enlisting the help of the Houston guys like Mamba suggested would be a great move. To try and get it close to what it once was, you're going to have to get a lot of Houston support.
  16. I know you are joking but I would like to know Mamba's thoughts but having seen a little of a lot of the teams, I think Kelly might be a top 5 team in the area this year or at least definitely in the conversation. I would put Silsbee and maybe 2 or 3 of the 5A teams above them but not sure who else. I would ask winwin but we all know he's not impartial
  17. He can and has. I do like where he's playing though. He flat out dominated the Nederland game. Vincent had 2 pick 6s which really stood out in the box score but Valsin dominated the line of scrimmage and had to be double digits in tackles. He also has a sack which forced a fumble. To me, he's one of the more underrated players in the area just because you don't hear a lot about him. Has one of those grown man bodies with ridiculous strength. And also has nice speed and quickness.
  18. I'm a little amazed too. Hines has been very good, great at times in half a season of HS football. And I've watched him since JR high. I really like his game. But Charles has been great at all 3 levels and is one of the best RBs in the WORLD when healthy. I think some just like to make outlandish arguments or maybe overhype. But heck, I hear people who get paid to commentate do the same thing so... Burkins was very good in HS and had a nice game or two at Baylor. I know he had injury issues so tough to tell what could have been. Still wouldn't put him on Jamaal's level. As far as PA running backs go, there is Jamaal and there is little Joe Washington and then you can argue about the rest after that at this point. In my humble opinion of course...
  19. I'm not sure any of the area 5A teams should be ranked at this point but it's difficult to say preseason anyway. BUT me thinks you are sandbagging I would put that district as 1) Ozen 2) PAM 3) Central or Nederland 4) central or Nederland. I think you have to put em that way based on past performance and recent performances. May have "a bunch of no named kids" but I am getting glowing reports on the Panthers out of Houston. As for Silsbee, obviously they are right where you'd expect them. Whether you put Lincoln one and them two or vice versa, they are 1 and 1a until proven differently.
  20. I've seen both. WOS would win by multiple scores IMO. That is a team that is extremely disciplined, extremely talented, and extremely well coached. PAM is extremely talented, I would even confidently say more talented. And they would lose to WOS and it wouldn't be particularly close. I know some PAM folks who agree with that assessment all the way around.
  21. Man he was amazing in HS and his freshman year in college. Thought he had a huge career in front of him.
