Sleep depravity. I will claim that's why I found that thought so funny and not a depraved sense of humor! -
Homeless Black Woman Guards Trumps Star on H'wood Blvd

Man, I was hoping when I opened this thread it was going to be a story about how she wanted that spot to herself when she needed to "relieve" herself.... -
I thought the same thing but couldn't force myself to type it.

Yes on Colton and that was Pat Knight, not Tic. He righted a previous wrong IMO. As for Atwood, I would just say he was a more highly regarded recruit than Miguez. In addition to "rankings," he also held an offer from Kelvin Sampson at U of H. He was a very big "get" for Lamar. I really enjoyed watching Miguez play and think he's a really good player. And getting the opportunity to play at the next level alone puts him in a very elite position, no matter the school. But not many would put him above an Atwood or Pearson in terms of D1 basketball. But I hope he proves all the so-called experts wrong.
-
Hard to criticize Tic here. Of his 3 signees, 2 were from SETX (Colton Weisbrod and TJ Atwood). I think both will turn out to be very good additions for the Cards. And both were higher profile recruits than Miguez. That being said, hope Jase finds all the success in the world at Southeastern!

Last night I watched a program about John Carlos, Tommie Smith, and Peter Norman, the Aussie who took Silver in the 200 in '68 and was pretty much ostracized for the remainder of his life for wearing a button on the platform in support of Carlos' and Smith's cause. Although they are mostly considered heros today, something tells me if this had happened in Rio last summer, they would have been criticized by many on this board... [Hidden Content]

SETXsports Pick 'em Results - Year to Date

Dang! Better to be lucky than good (for me / Englebert I think is both)! To be fair, Honest Abe and I have just been killing time until basketball season so you should be beating us... -
If HJ win out they will be the 2 seed

I can't imagine anyone making a choice based on a newspaper endorsement. I guess it may happen with some people but has to be pretty rare. It's a time-honored tradition though and does speak to how awful the Donald is that some are endorsing a Dem after a 100+ years of refusing to do so.
-
Maybe but he would be on the verge of a dynasty regardless. Bama had been pretty much atrocious for a decade or so before Nick got there. As easy as he makes it look at Bama, it would arguably be even easier at Texas. Combine the best recruiting base with college athletics biggest brand, it would tough for a coach like Saban to miss . BUT that was a missed opportunity and the powers that be appear to have their sites set on Hermann. Ironically, LSU firing Les so early probably shortened Charlie's leash.

We need more OldTimer on this board!

Bingo. That and about 110 million other reasons.
-
The contract he signed was the same contract that was on his desk before he went to Red's house. You may be right, but with the timeline, you could also be very wrong

So this issue hasn't become more of an issue (warranted or not) in the last year? Of course it has
-
Me too but he's home too (as well at an elite program). He's not going anywhere. Les should have taken that job years ago. He might still have a job with the recruits he could have gotten in a top job like Michigan.

Not even his alma mater likes or respects this tool box. Meanwhile, others have called it the best job in football recently. But Herbie is the Joy Behar of college football so I can see where aggy would hold onto his every word.

That's the rub. It's not like she's finally the Democratic nominee they've been waiting a century to endorse.
-
Terrible. Maybe they will do the right thing for once. It has some bipartisan support so hopefully it will get righted. "California senators Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer urged the Defense Department to use its authority to waive repayment." "House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy of California said he, too, is appalled. "Our military heroes should not shoulder the burden of military recruiters' faults from over a decade ago," he said. "They should not owe for what was promised during a difficult time in our country. Rather, we are the ones who owe a debt for the great sacrifices our heroes have made."

So did the Arizona Republic (conservative paper that hasn't endorsed a Democrat for President in its 126 years). So did the Dallas Morning News (the first Dem its endorsed for President in more than 75 years). And the Cincinnati Enquirer endorsed her as well (the first in almost 100 years). Trump is that bad...

And no, Texas can't get whoever they want obviously. Nick was infatuated with the Texas job, his wife loves Austin, and there was a lot more cash on the table than the ungodly salary. Mack was terrified about being replaced by Nick and was going to do whatever he could to keep that from happening. Urban ain't leaving Ohio St. It, like Texas, is one of the top few jobs in the country and, more importantly, he's "home." He's an Ohio guy at his dream job and will never leave there to coach anywhere else, unless it's an NFL job and probably has no desire to do even that given his health history. Peterson would be my top choice but he's not coming to Texas either. The reason he stayed at Boise for so long is because he has a kid with health issues and needs to be in that climate. He's not leaving the Northeast.

Nick was at Red McCombs house the weekend of the football banquet when Mack was supposed to retire. Mack does an about face at the banquet and announces he is returning for another season. Nick flies back to Tuscaloosa and signs a contract that had been sitting on his desk for 2 weeks unchanged. Mack promptly retires once Nick signs the new deal with Alabama. Read into that what you will but the dots aren't hard to connect.

This dude is just trolling. And he doesn't even do that well...
