If I just read things correctly, the SEC has had a team in the CWS final every year but 1 since 2008 and 4 times the finalist were both SEC schools.  I knew the conference was dominant, but that's just ridiculous.

No argument here about SEC  baseball being the gold standard and I would agree with you (at least I think you would agree) that the SEC has been more dominant in baseball than football.  Just stating when you add arguably the bluest blood in the country in baseball, the rich get even richer.

Just for the sake of a fun discussion. SEC baseball very well may be the most dominant conference of all NCAA D-1 sports.  Texas has a resume that is one of the tops in all of college baseball, but to claim its them and LSU everyone else is a stretch.

Not an SEC school, but Stanford could argue they have had a better past 3 to 4 decades than Texas. 4 titles and 3 runner up finishes.

In the last 4 decades, Texas has 3 titles, 5 runner ups and 18 CWS appearances.  And for accuracy sake, Stanford only has 2 nattys period (both in 80s) and 3 runner ups period.   Texas has 6 and 6.  Stanford has a great history but they ain’t Texas.

That certainly helps but if I heard correctly on the broadcast last night, the last 15 seasons has had at least one SEC school playing for the national championship. Pretty common already.

But it’s like adding Kentucky to the ACC or Big 12 in basketball or Ohio St to the SEC in football.  No matter how good the league is, those additions significantly move the needle.  Except in basketball, you have Kentucky, Kansas, UNC and Duke and then everyone else. In baseball, USC obviously have the most titles but in the last 30-40 years, it’s Texas and LSU and then everyone else (in terms of nosebleed blue bloods).

And Booker T Washington beat Dallas Carter by 20 last night what’s up with that.

BTW will be solid again.  Lost some good players but return their best player.  McDermott probably second best player in region behind Harris.  But he’s a big - I will always take the high major guard over the HM big at the HS level.  Usually just way more impactful.  But they will be a test for the Tigers anyway.

As for Carter, I’m hearing WT White had the best recruiting off season. Look out 5A.

Also adding on the way Elam scored his buckets, maybe the opposing team’s coaches should’ve put a defensive game plan in place to stop leak outs and snow birding.  Blame them.  If your team’s player can snowbird and leak out, you’d be a fool not to let him continue to do it.

My guess is they feel the same way I do when I’ve seen it.  Let him and take advantage of his preference to try to score as many points as possible while playing little defense in the half court set and NEVER boxing out.  I’m sure Sutherland and the other coaches like the 5 on 4 concept when they have the ball

WOS let him do it and still beat the Tigers 2 out of 3 that season.  And their best player outplayed him all 3 times, despite graduating at 17 while his counterpart aged out at 21 before the next fall.

Key words here….  Legitimate argument.  And I did watch that kid’s games.

And  about Elam.  Know know about his age situation and how he scored his baskets.  UIL signed off on it so it was what it was.  He scored a ton of baskets, so he also has a legitimate argument no matter how anyone feels about his game or age.

Just cause you can make up an argument doesn’t make it a good one or a legitimate one.  I’m aware UIL signed off on it.  As long as you are in resource classes (what we used to call special ed), you can be close to drinking age and playing high school sports.  For those that aren’t, you better not turn 19 a couple of weeks before Sept. 1.

Well, I wonder if folks know that Bosha set the alltime scoring record at that school.  So he legitimately has an argument IMHO…

I wonder if you know how many shots he took in comparison to some of the other guys.  I would think Elam is one of the all time leading scorers at Silsbee too.  He was also 20 years old and probably scored at least half of his baskets snowbirding (leaking out on defense and getting uncontested layups).  Stats are great but you also have to watch the games.  Bosha was great. But better than a few of those other guys, no way.

Bosha might have been better tho.

Bosha wasn’t even the best player in that district.  Q was better in HS (and continued to be in college).  Bosha is definitely after Donahue, Spears and Prudhomme (in no particular order).  Probably some others I’m missing as well.

Congratulations to all of the young men and the young ladies who won.  Awesome group of players on the first and second teams.

There are a few more who are right up there with this group.

Lots of talent in this area.

Exactly.  When you only have 10, some quality ones will be left out.  But still the best way to do it imo.   Been the most prestigious honor in SETX for awhile now (in hoops anyway).

    Wow lol

Holy smokes.  I couldn’t get the game where I am so was watching game cast on phone.  Just showed a single.  Saw the replay earlier.  Hate we lost but feel awful for Campbell.  That kind of thing will mess with your head for a while.

I know it was announced, but I can't find the list.

    Anyone have it?

That’s all I have.  Not sure if there were any superlatives.
