  1. Although Smith, Cole, and KJ Franks were all Mustangs who brightened Pyle Field for aggy.
  2. Not THAT Greg Hill! The one that played DB at Okie lite and then for the Raiders and Chiefs I think.
  3. Not that one. It was a call on another drive. I clearly posted about the out of bounds call and I didn't say or insinuate that was a bad call. The one I was referring to was with some activity after a play that involved both teams.
  4. I've compared him to Major Applewhite on several occasions. My son said tonight he reminds him of the Horns new QB, Shane Buechele. My sample size with him is one game but I see the comparison. Jack impresses me everytime I see him. A lot of kids are talented and a lot of kids are coachable. JD is definitely both. But he also has something that can't be taught and only a few have. It's so special the best term we can use to describe it is "IT." And Jack Dallas most certainly has "IT."
  5. OH no doubt. Chris Cole played for a bit and Greg Hill played for a few different teams and had a nice career. I may be missing some others but those come to mind. Just saying it's remarkable when you have little ole West Orange producing not one but TWO All Pros within two decades. Only 4 DBs get named to that team each year. Amazing to me.
  6. Yes they have. WOS has had 2 All Pro DBs in the last 20 years with Kevin Smith and Earl Thimas. There is anothther young Mustang playing for Nick Saban that has a good chance of playing on Sunday's as well.
  7. I said tensions were hot before the game. For obvious reasons for the WOS kids. During the game, it was played really clean all things considered.
  8. Probably so. But why risk it? Tensions were hot before the game and BC got humiliated on the field. All it takes is one kid from either side...wise decision IMO.
  9. I heard it was about not shaking hands at the end of the game.
  10. Obviously they wouldn't beat any team in the state but I think you are saying they are the most dominant in their classification. I would agree. Although I will say my pops and I went to see that '83 Daingerfield play a playoff game at Tyler Rose Stadium on a Friday and we went to see the eventual 5A Champs Odessa Permian play in Texas Stadium the following day. You will never convince me Daingerfield would not have beaten Mojo that year. A few of those guys ended up playing on Sunday's (two named Everett).
  11. Glad I'm not alone. My pride wouldn't let me do that. At that point, I'm getting in the end zone or I'm not scoring. And since the other thread got locked, which one of you goobs wanted to bet me when I said the BC-LCM game would be closer than the BC-WOS game? The margin to beat is 55. Good luck!
  12. They might score but I am calling a beatdown in that one. WOS supposedly doesn't circle game but I can't imagine those Mustangs don't have a mental asterisk by the Silsbee game. I am predicting it now though. I think Silsbee and BC will be a heckuva game again.
  13. I thought the same thing tonight. I knew Dubois is a heckuva coach but I had no idea he had a little Hooks in him on working the zebras. I admired his fight. My only criticism is I would never, ever, in a million years, send out a FG team when I'm down 55. I know he wanted to get on the board but that is wayyyy too bush league for my taste (and testosterone level).
  14. On that play, the ball was spotted by the ump, and the referee came in and move it forward 2 to3 feet and signaled 1st down. That, along with what appeared to be a challenge without the benefit of replay (which isn't reviewable at any level) which you referenced, were two things I don't ever recall seeing. I was shocked.
  15. Well, that was a lot of fun. The WOS fans were great tonight. A lot of good positive energy in the stands tonight and we, along with some of our Porr Arthur friends, enjoyed the experience. It was my first time to see the Mustangs tonight and they were as good as advertised. Actually probably better. As all have said, you are not going to beat (and really not even score) on that defense if you are not a serious threat to throw the ball. BC's passing game isn't even a concern against a defense like theirs. It was more likely to result in a turnover than a positive play. The best defense I've seen in my lifetime at the HS level was the '83 Daingerfield team. They were a 3A team (would be 4A now) but I believe they gave up 9 points the entire season. I wouldn't put the Mustangs on that level just yet but they certainly have that "feel." They are downright dominant at the line of scrimmage and from what I was able to see with limited reps, pretty darn good in the back as well. It will be interesting to see how they fare against a spread-type offense. I wish they saw more of that around here. And a word to the wise (as Cardinal Backer said more eloquently) to future opponents, stay the heck off social media. You don't try to grab a snake by the tail. Silsbee spent the summer poking the bear so I have no doubt they have a little something coming. The rest of the teams on the schedule would do well by learning from others' transgressions...
  16. That's a wrap. WOS continues the season shutout. WOS 55 BC 00 F. And to be honest, I know it sounds crazy, but it wasn't that close..
  17. Have to agree with you. No sense inviting trouble IMO.
  18. WOS empties bench. Late hit out of bounds on Stangs. BC 1st and 10 at WOS 25. 2 minutes left.
  19. Not sure what happened. Coach T calls TO and talks to Dubois at midfield.
  20. In all fairness, one of their players was old enough to play HS back then...
