  1. That’s my issue. Why is it so bad in our area? Even the ones that are supposed to be the best veteran officials are mediocre at best. I don’t expect them to be college officials that I am used to seeing. But I don’t see why they are so much worse than almost every other HS region I’ve seen. I understand Houston has more people to pull from but they also have more games to cover. And I don’t expect them to be perfect. I doubt there has ever been a perfectly called game in the history of basketball. But at least be competent and know the rules.
  2. Couldn’t agree more. Kid was two assists shy of a triple double last night. Triple doubles are rarer at the HS level than Bigfoot sightings.
  3. Good call. And good win by the Bears. Even impressive. May just need to not look past opponents in the future. Sometimes hard to prevent with athletes in general, more so when they are a bunch of teenagers.
  4. Chuck has been dropping truth bombs as long as I can remember. I remember when I was a very young man, people lost their mind over his “I am not a role model commercial.” This is a 60 second clip that a LOT of people on both sides of the aisle probably need to hear. Also, San Antonio does have a lot of fat women
  5. I don’t know why they are so bad in SETX but they just are. Not all, obviously. But the overall product is embarrassing. When I am in other venues (which is a lot) and hear complaining about the officiating, I always say, you should go watch a game in SETX. And worse, one of our 2 chapters is way worse than the other and the other may be the second to the worst I’ve seen (overall). On the other hand, last week I watched a D1 crew blow a 3 pt call (calling a shot a 3 when the shooter was 2 to 3 feet inside the 3 pt line), in a game that ultimately went to OT and the team that would have won lost. All 3 collegiate officials missed that call. So it may not just be on the HS level. The problem is, it’s a job not many people would want.
  6. In the last 18 months, we lost both Norm MacDonald and Barbara Walters. Most in the world would probably consider Walters the bigger loss. Give me Norm. Here’s an appearance on The View from over 20 years ago where he almost makes Walters and a couple of her cohorts lose their mind. It’s vintage Norm and they only let him stay on air for less than 7 minutes. If you like funny (and trolling liberals - no, not any of you!), please watch and enjoy. Happy Saturday.
  7. Come to think about it, do they still have that section of crystal beach where that sort of thing is encouraged?
  8. Yeah SEC coordinator job probably pays way more too I am guessing. Good for him.
  9. Either way, no one wants to see him nekkid. Maybe his lovely bride but that’s her cross to bear.
  10. I thought this was a thread about @AggiesAreWe losing a rare bet in high school…
  11. He’s now making about 1 out of 3 (has only shot about 30 this year) which is the equivalent of shooting 50 percent from 2. Not elite but it’s definitely “green light” numbers. I agree with you about his energy off the bench and the kid seems to make big plays. And in terms of last year’s team, I liked his game more than some of what was run out there. Admittedly, I haven’t watched anything more than highlights of Aggie basketball this year.
  12. There’s no argument. The S is silent. And I only call it The Groves.
  13. So happy for Hayden. He seems to produce when given opportunities. He finishes 3-3 from the field, all 3s. I never understand those box scores. If I have a kid who has taken 3 3s and made them all, I’m going to find ways to get him shots until he shows me he’s no longer hitting them. Great night for the Houston Defenders. Jabari Rice (who used to have his way with them when they were freshmen) made some huge plays down the stretch to lead the Horns to a big win over Hefner’s longtime summer teammate Eddie Lampkin and TCU.
  14. Big congrats to United’s Wesley Yates on his nomination to the McDonald’s All American game. So well deserved and couldn’t happen to a better young man. We are all proud of you!
  15. Don’t feel bad. At least you didn’t have 3 million on the TCU money line. Then again if we had Mattress Mack’s $ and system, we probably wouldn’t care either.
  16. Absolutely. And you would be correct on the hoops. Especially college. I have loved it since I was a kid watching the Big East on ESPN when it was a fledgling network (Ewing, Mullin, etc.). Now it is heaven for us junkies.
  17. Absolutely. I would have him in the weight room as much or more as the hardwood. His dad isn’t a small guy - if he develops into Sr’s size, he will be fine.
  18. I’m with you. I would rather watch a MAC game on Tuesday night. Sports are the best form of reality tv.
  19. And this is by no means a two man team. The bobcats are deep and also have their size back. As such, I will predict OF by 7 tonight.
