Major Conference losing to the small guys
TxHoops replied to show me love's topic in High School Boys Basketball
Quick question: the team that eliminated the team you picked to win it all is from which conference? I'll wait... -
Parquet to Kelly is a done deal apparently.

Major Conference losing to the small guys

Smh. Fool had Kentucky winning it all. -
Length + athleticism. Can't coach that. He'll play in the league. Watch. I can point out several who are very similar right now. No one said he will star. But he will make a roster. Maybe not immediately but not in the too distant future.

Wow. Just wow. Good luck Sunday Ags. Hope you beat em.
-
Holy crap he made a FT. One of the worst I've seen from the line.
-
Exactly. He's a 8-10 minute a night guy.
-
That kind of length and the way he jumps. Agreed. Was at the LAC/Hou game Wednesday. Never thought DeAndre would be the force he has become. Wore Dwight Howard's behind out. Ibeh is nowhere near the talent Jordan is but he could be a factor rebounding and blocking shots.

What times does LSWho play? That's what I thought. But thanks for the reverse jinx little guy Let's gooooo Horns!

Yes, it's a Hulu original series. My bad.

I don't think he will be a great NBA player. But I believe he will play in the league. Even at 6'10", that length and his basketball IQ will allow him to make a career there. I think he should play at least 3 years at this level though.

Dallas Lincoln 75 Silsbee 72/Final

I will be very surprised if Silsbee isn't better next year. The junior class has long thought to be their best group, at least until the freshmen this year were so valuable. And there will be another freshman sensation next year. The road won't be easy but I think they are the top dog in our area next year. -
The happens to often with them. Kennedy might need to start instituting a Tyler gets a touch on every possession rule. Because most people are going to have trouble with him on the block. The good thing is he is going to need another year at least to really build his draft status. And I promise you they have someone coming in who will feed him the rock.

They were named to the second team All Tournament team at State.

+1. Especially with A&M's and Texas' programs on the rise. Underwood is outstanding though. Wouldn't doubt him wherever he went. But I wouldn't trade Shaka for him. He's one of the best teacher's of defense in the game and will be an outstanding recruiter in my opinion. The kids love him.

I love hearing Cal and Kentucky fans whine. Two teams have the identical record, split 2 games head to head, and one is 8-3 vs. other teams in the field and the other is 3-3. Which one do you give the higher seed to? Yeah, me too. The committee got this one right. Geography of the regional just helps the cause.

Well, most of us realize we always have more to learn. But you're well ahead of the curve buddy. -

On the officiating, I never complain about it so long as it's consistent. And in this game, it was consistent. It's just it was consistent one way in one half, and a different way in the other. Which is strange..sometimes this occurs when someone has some "advice" for a crew at intermission, especially if a supervisor is on hand. I don't think you can blame this loss on officiating anymore than you can blame it on Devon getting hurt. The truth is you can almost never say for certain what would happen with a changed variable. However, we do know that Silsbee could have won this game if they had capitalized more on opportunities (point blank range shots and FTs), if they hadn't been so tight in the first half (jitters, officiating, or whatever), etc. Bottom line is this was a great season and I highly doubt it will be the last trip the Tigers make to State in the next few years. And next time they will have experienced it and be better for it. I know, I know, I'm making crazy predictions again. Just like I said they wouldn't lose more than 3 district games in 5 years (they've lost 1 in 2 years so far) or that a couple of junior high kids would have a significant impact on varsity as freshmen. Hold your heads high Tigers. Keep working and you may get fitted for those rings yet. And to Tre, Dontre, Ricky, and Big Luke, it's been an absolute pleasure watching you guys play, even when you were dishing out beatings to my team. To the very end, you guys were champions in my book... -

The one that was really bad was one on Mackey in the first half. Kid was almost under the rim. If they "no call" it (which is acceptable), it's a 2 point swing. If they call a block (which is the most correct in my book), a potential 3 point swing. The weird part is how they called the two halves almost completely different. At this level, they should let them play more, especially when both teams have similar styles. Ironically, the refs not doing in that in the first half actually benefitted a Lincoln team (as we saw from the way the second half played out) that prefers to play a different style. -

I agree and was advocating Texas to hire Shaka for a couple of years before they did. Why? Because I think he is one of the best teachers of defense in the game at any level. They do press in the back court but his pressure man defense with all 5 players playing team defense is a thing of beauty. And it wears a team down as much or more than the press. They do throw some zone in (which most teams do) but I like this as well to give teams different looks. And FWIW, I think Sigler does a very good job at coaching man defense at Silsbee as well. They do a very good job at playing man and still trapping out of it at the right times. -
For the season and consistency, the best two players were Grubbs and D McCain, period. However, due to time missed for grades, you would have to put the freshman at the top of the list.

So relieved he's okay. Special kid and player.
