  1. I wondered why Dontre was upset there. Replay showed the kid who got called for blocking gave him a little kick.
  2. Silsbee strikes first, but the pace is super fast. Advantage Silsbee IMO.
  3. That's where we disagree. A lot of these districts are 5 and 6 team districts. So a game you played 4 or 5 weeks before the playoffs matters. Kids need to be put in the pressure cooker and have to perform. 50 point beatdowns don't give you that experience. It's situational experience that can benefit the team in the long run. I really believe if WOS (and Silsbee in basketball) had never been challenged, they don't make the runs they did. Plus, any coach worth his salt will tell you every game is an opportunity to get better. The more you are challenged, the bigger the opportunity. But, as I say, in college football, playing in a tough conference, there is little incentive to beef up the schedule. Especially when the main goal is based upon polling where win-loss records are key. That is why you see the Saban's scheduling mostly cupcakes. In college basketball, where the RPI is the gospel, not so much.
  4. Please don't derail a state championship thread with your trolling. To put it as nicely as I can, no one cares. Appreciate your cooperation in advance.
  5. Lancaster finishes the season 37-2 I believe. Only two losses were back to back. Lost to Atascocita in the McDonald's tournament championship and to Bush the following week.
  6. I heard it said the other day that if the nominations were to hold, Trump would be the most disliked candidate to be nominated for POTUS and Hillary would be second (I assume since they've kept track of these things). Interestingly, the candidate in the race who is most liked on either side is Bernie Sanders. I guess the point being that "likability" may be pretty far down the totem pole these days.
  7. Your argument is predicated on having a tough district. With WOS, they schedule as tough as they can in predistrict to try and get some real competition that will get them battle tested for the playoffs. Then they go a month playing patsies. Same with Silsbee in basketball. Sigler tries to find the best of the best to play (like with WOS, he gets some takers and some passers) because he knows he gets two games in a couple of months (HJ) where his team is going to even be remotely challenged. And I would say like Saban, it's kind of hard to argue with their results. But if a given district is a juggernaut, then your schedule the Sisters of the Poor makes more sense...
  8. Should be a good one. Maybe the two best teams in the state.
  9. I believe that's the old Sam Houston. Forget why they changed their name.
  10. You can't blame them. They were on a run and their fans were excited. I am guessing they were well represented because Levelland loves its basketball and they normally travel really well. But they had no idea what they had coming at em. They were going to get smoked no matter which team they drew. They just happened to catch the really short straw for the extra pain.
  11. Silsbee is on the Fox Sports Southwest Auxiliary channel which is 676-1. The EC game is on the regular FSSW channel. At least on directv.
  12. According the UIL website, only the 2A and 5A games will be on that channel. The others are Fox Sports.
  13. Directv customers: East Chambers is on 676. Silsbee will be on 676-1.
  14. Or had an off shooting day. After all, Steph Curry was 1-10 from 3s in a loss to the Lakers last week. And LA is awful. And let's be honest, 8:30 am games are not something high schoolers are used to during the season. BUT both teams have to deal with that time slot. From my experience, give me the team who scores more in the paint over a perimeter team in early morning matchups. But not to discount Muenster. They DID play great defense and deserved the win. But is that the best defensive team BS has played? No. Is that the best defensive team they've played since before Christmas? Absolutely.
  15. Like Silsbee, Lincoln will come in with a swagger and expect to win. The difference should be depth. Put them through 32 minutes of hell defensively, and the Tigers bring home the long awaited trophy home.
  16. If they play well, I agree. I would set the line in the 12-15 range regardless of who wins. If they don't play well, either team is capable of beating them. I worry a little about them not having a close game in the playoffs yet.
  17. Couldn't agree more. Taking nothing away from Muenster, they are a solid squad for sure. But Big Sandy played teams (and beat some of them) that are better than Muenster before district started. But when you go a couple of months, including a pretty easy region, without being remotely challenged, it hurts when you go to battle and the shots aren't falling. That was my biggest fear for the Wildcats.
  18. Both freshmen have a chance to play D1, potentially high D1. The thing with McCain is he has intangibles that cannot be taught or coached. If he works hard enough and wants it bad enough, the sky's the limit with that one.
  19. Looks like you got your wish, big guy.
  20. It's tough not to run up the score when the players at the end of your bench are better than their starters. Besides, you make the final four, you should be good enough not to let anyone run it up on you. I'm just sayin...
  21. You know the very scary part? So is Silsbee
  22. Levelland is a team that exceeded all expectations by getting to state. They could not be prepared for the buzz saw that is Silsbee. You can't simulate that type of pressure playing in West Texas. Winning their region and getting to San Antonio is a rare accomplishment for the Lobos; it's normally the Lady Lobos who are in the mix for titles. Silsbee needs to keep up the intensity and finish strong. Because whoever wins the next game will not be a cake walk in the finals. I believe the Tigers are the best team in their class but they will definitely have to earn the next one.
