  1. +1. Especially with A&M's and Texas' programs on the rise. Underwood is outstanding though. Wouldn't doubt him wherever he went. But I wouldn't trade Shaka for him. He's one of the best teacher's of defense in the game and will be an outstanding recruiter in my opinion. The kids love him.
  2. I love hearing Cal and Kentucky fans whine. Two teams have the identical record, split 2 games head to head, and one is 8-3 vs. other teams in the field and the other is 3-3. Which one do you give the higher seed to? Yeah, me too. The committee got this one right. Geography of the regional just helps the cause.
  3. I don't think you or Mike could make that good radio
  4. Well, most of us realize we always have more to learn. But you're well ahead of the curve buddy.
  5. On the officiating, I never complain about it so long as it's consistent. And in this game, it was consistent. It's just it was consistent one way in one half, and a different way in the other. Which is strange..sometimes this occurs when someone has some "advice" for a crew at intermission, especially if a supervisor is on hand. I don't think you can blame this loss on officiating anymore than you can blame it on Devon getting hurt. The truth is you can almost never say for certain what would happen with a changed variable. However, we do know that Silsbee could have won this game if they had capitalized more on opportunities (point blank range shots and FTs), if they hadn't been so tight in the first half (jitters, officiating, or whatever), etc. Bottom line is this was a great season and I highly doubt it will be the last trip the Tigers make to State in the next few years. And next time they will have experienced it and be better for it. I know, I know, I'm making crazy predictions again. Just like I said they wouldn't lose more than 3 district games in 5 years (they've lost 1 in 2 years so far) or that a couple of junior high kids would have a significant impact on varsity as freshmen. Hold your heads high Tigers. Keep working and you may get fitted for those rings yet. And to Tre, Dontre, Ricky, and Big Luke, it's been an absolute pleasure watching you guys play, even when you were dishing out beatings to my team. To the very end, you guys were champions in my book...
  6. You crack me up Brady
  7. The one that was really bad was one on Mackey in the first half. Kid was almost under the rim. If they "no call" it (which is acceptable), it's a 2 point swing. If they call a block (which is the most correct in my book), a potential 3 point swing. The weird part is how they called the two halves almost completely different. At this level, they should let them play more, especially when both teams have similar styles. Ironically, the refs not doing in that in the first half actually benefitted a Lincoln team (as we saw from the way the second half played out) that prefers to play a different style.
  8. I agree and was advocating Texas to hire Shaka for a couple of years before they did. Why? Because I think he is one of the best teachers of defense in the game at any level. They do press in the back court but his pressure man defense with all 5 players playing team defense is a thing of beauty. And it wears a team down as much or more than the press. They do throw some zone in (which most teams do) but I like this as well to give teams different looks. And FWIW, I think Sigler does a very good job at coaching man defense at Silsbee as well. They do a very good job at playing man and still trapping out of it at the right times.
  9. For the season and consistency, the best two players were Grubbs and D McCain, period. However, due to time missed for grades, you would have to put the freshman at the top of the list.
  10. So relieved he's okay. Special kid and player.
  11. I might be off but I think Little McCain, Adams, Maze, Barnes, and Thomas start. Newton, Grubbs, M McCain, and Harris all played a lot in the second half and were instrumental in the comeback. The only one of the second group who didn't (and I don't remember seeing him at all in the second half) was Mackey. And that was a little surprising to me because I thought that first half was the best he's played in the playoffs this year. At least offensively anyway.
  12. I thought you told me classification doesn't mean anything? Sooo, Silsbee vs. central 1-0. Ozen vs. central 1-2.
  13. I will notify Wisconsin, Maryland, and Indiana that they are in the state of Michigan...
  14. The fact that you think "the big 10 sucks and it ain't no secret" shows you are a basketball embecile. But nice try at the deflection Special J.
  15. Two teams in the Final Four from the same conference does mean the conference doesn't "suck." Well, that and the fact they tied the Big 12 with the most bids with 7. How many bids did the Southland get other than the automatic one? Don't worry, I'll wait...
  16. By the way, that means in the last 12 months, the Big 10 has sent 2 more teams to the Final Four than the Southland has in the history of the tournament...but yeah, the Big 10 sucks and It's no secret...
  17. How dumb are you? How many Big 10 teams were in the Final Four last year? I will give you a hint: 50% of them (now divide 4 by 2...)
  18. There we agree. A lot of teams that play man, don't really know how to play man.
  19. They played some really good man defenses along the way. Didn't always fare well but did more times than not. Some they faced were better than Lincoln's and a couple of times they lost bigger than tonight.
  20. By the way, if you think Lincoln slowed it down, you are as occularly challenged as you are mentally...
  21. The only person you make look stupid, Special J, is yourself. Don't believe me? Ask anyone else. But that's not quite an impressive feat, is it? After all you're playing with a deck with no face cards...
  22. Beat me to it. Nor the second, third, fourth, fifth, and so on and so on...
  23. I'm done arguing with you Special J. Atascocita may lose this game, and Carson may have an off game. But it won't change the fact that they won 38 straight and beat the likes of Lancaster, DeLaSalle and others along the way. And it won't stop a loud mouth, know-it-all from coming online and screaming overrated when they finally lose a game. Just like you couldn't wait to criticize Silsbee's coaching when they came up short (just like your Panthers when you played). And next year, when Edwards is playing in the Big 10 and someone else is not, you'll be just as wrong as you are now. But flame away. It is your strong suit. Well, that and assistant coaching on the pooh cheese summer circuit.
  24. At guard, No. 13, Alfred E. Neuman!
  25. The metroplex continues to own basketball in this state.
