Muenster 50 Dallardsville Big Sandy 43/Final
TxHoops replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Boys Basketball
Or had an off shooting day. After all, Steph Curry was 1-10 from 3s in a loss to the Lakers last week. And LA is awful. And let's be honest, 8:30 am games are not something high schoolers are used to during the season. BUT both teams have to deal with that time slot. From my experience, give me the team who scores more in the paint over a perimeter team in early morning matchups. But not to discount Muenster. They DID play great defense and deserved the win. But is that the best defensive team BS has played? No. Is that the best defensive team they've played since before Christmas? Absolutely. -
Dallas Lincoln vs. Silsbee (State Championship)

Like Silsbee, Lincoln will come in with a swagger and expect to win. The difference should be depth. Put them through 32 minutes of hell defensively, and the Tigers bring home the long awaited trophy home. -

If they play well, I agree. I would set the line in the 12-15 range regardless of who wins. If they don't play well, either team is capable of beating them. I worry a little about them not having a close game in the playoffs yet. -

Couldn't agree more. Taking nothing away from Muenster, they are a solid squad for sure. But Big Sandy played teams (and beat some of them) that are better than Muenster before district started. But when you go a couple of months, including a pretty easy region, without being remotely challenged, it hurts when you go to battle and the shots aren't falling. That was my biggest fear for the Wildcats. -
Looks like you got your wish, big guy.

You know the very scary part? So is Silsbee
-
Levelland is a team that exceeded all expectations by getting to state. They could not be prepared for the buzz saw that is Silsbee. You can't simulate that type of pressure playing in West Texas. Winning their region and getting to San Antonio is a rare accomplishment for the Lobos; it's normally the Lady Lobos who are in the mix for titles. Silsbee needs to keep up the intensity and finish strong. Because whoever wins the next game will not be a cake walk in the finals. I believe the Tigers are the best team in their class but they will definitely have to earn the next one.

Congrats to the Wildcats on another fine season. I know I am not alone in saying you have fans all across SETX and for many of us, you were by far our favorite team to watch. Thanks for the enjoyment you gave us over the past few years. Remember the lessons you learned from Coach Foster don't only apply on the hardwood. -
I personally like watching the game with the sound down and listening to AAW's audio.

The wife read and loved the book. She said it's a little different (I think starting at the second episode) but key parts are the same. She says for time constraints. But she has really enjoyed the series too.
-
Well, I guess the wife and I will have to knock that season out by the end of Spring Break. By the way, since you are a Netflix'er, highly recommend 11/22/63 based on the Stephen King book. They only release one episode a week but it's really good.

Stop trying to depress me, ladybug!!

I was also struck by how horrified she would be by the lack of decorum in this election. What is the worst part of it to me is it is as much an "us" problem as it is with the guys engaging in these ridiculous debates, etc. If people were as outraged as Nancy Reagan would be, they would clean it up and talk about the real issues. I can only assume they don't because this is what "the people" want to hear. It speaks volumes about our society and it's not good. There have to be plenty of former Presidents rolling over in their graves when pee pee size is discussed on a Presidential debate stage...
-
On that note, I'm disappointed again at another skipped funeral by the President. I realize it's not the most important thing in the world but it is a sign of respect and has been one of those times when people from both sides of the aisle unite together. Just bad form IMO. And this coming from someone who loves Austin and SXSW as much as anyone.

(2016-2017)Houston Texans
TxHoops replied to PAMFAM10's topic in Professional Sports- NFL, NBA, MLB, Etc
I agree but that kind of money for, as Mack correctly points out, an unproven qb? just reeks of desperation to me. I mean it's only $4m less per year than Rodgers and about double what Brady will make. He might be great but he might be a bust. That's elite qb money. But it's proof once again what a sweet gig the NFL backup qb position is. Either get paid to hold a clipboard or, if you are with a good team and do get in, win a few games and you can set you and yours up for life. -
Silsbee hires Cypress Ranch OC Randy Smith

Kind of my thoughts. Based on his resume', doesn't look like 4A SETX football is a destination job for him. Wish the Tigers nothing but success though. -

4 years/$72M? I hope it works out but if not, could be the nail in Rick Smith's coffin. Smells a lot like the Matts (Cassel and Flynn) to me. Hope I'm wrong. -
My wife was the same way. Cringing the whole hour. I am starting the think "Jesus" is going to be a valuable member for the group. I hope so because I really want to like the kid.

It's already out???? How did I miss this??

Saw it. Was very good. -
I would expect Texas to be higher. Surprised A&M is on the list. Outside of Texas, not much vitriol against the Aggies. Although they were the biggest villain to Red Raiders and Bears when they were in our conference.
