  1. Agreed. I've been there a couple of summers over the past 4 years. Beautiful and affordable
  2. No doubt. They do much, much more than "shoot the 3." That's why they were recruited by a different class of school.
  3. New series on FX but it's a few episodes in. Watched it from the beginning and it's actually really good. Outstanding cast including Cuba Gooding, Jr., John Travolta, David Schwimmer, Rob Morrow, Nathan Lane, etc.
  4. Rarely have I watched a television program on the edge of my seat for the entire hour. This show just continues to deliver. Amazing opening to the second half of the season.
  5. I'm not the biggest Scalia fan but the President should be ashamed of not being there to pay homage to the man. Whether you agree with him or not, he's been one of the biggest contributors on the Court since his appointment and deserves respect. One of the neatest stories to come out of this horrible tragedy is the unique relationship between Scalia and Ginsburg. They couldn't be further apart on their ideologies but shared a deep mutual respect and a special friendship. Those buffoons in the other branches of government could learn a lot from the example set by those two.
  6. Again, that sword cuts both ways and just goes to show the hypocrisy of both parties. Most claim to be strict supporters of the clear reading of the Constitution - they should read article 2.
  7. As far as the original article, mercy rules should apply in baseball only (it's boring enough when the game isn't a blow out). I kid you baseball guys - it has a place there because there is no clock. In basketball, etc., if you don't like the result on the court/field, there are remedies. Work harder, do something different, etc. I applaud the coaches trying not to get up 50 pts in Nevada because it exposes the ridiculousness of the rule.
  8. Amen. Unfortunately in our state, this isn't always the case, especially in sports not called football.
  9. Neither Beaumont team is as good this year as last IMO. Not drastically worse but both teams lost their best player and other key seniors in key spots. Either could gel and make a run but I haven't seen them play up to the levels they were at last year yet. Really hope either one does and represents us at State this year. On the flip side, haven't seen enough of Bush or Elkins to know how much, if any, they have improved.
  10. I was going to call that statement bold but it's more appropriately another 4 letter word that starts with d and ends with b. There's at least 2 in Houston alone right now - Atascocita (Edwards and Shead) and SATCH (Caldwell and Davis). And probably have to throw in Cy Lakes based on Fox alone. Now if you were talking about last year's back court at Ozen with Hunter in the mix, it's a lot closer at least. But to answer the question at hand, I would probably agree with you. It's highly, highly unlikely that both will make the regional finals. I could see maybe one making it but I don't really have a feel on which one would have a better shot. I wouldn't be surprised if one of them made a run but I would be pretty shocked if both made it through the gauntlet and met up again for a shot at San Antonio.
  11. You may be right. And like I said, I would have voted for Dontre. But no one can act like a voter is an idiot for voting for Jack. Both had amazing seasons. Interestingly, the reason I would have voted for Thomas was due to his unbelievable numbers. But those making that argument are somewhat hypocritical to criticize Tims winning. Like ccs said, he might have led the state in tackles. Which is why I would have had to vote for him as well...
  12. Everyone that knows me knows how highly I think of Jack Dallas. But I would have voted exactly the same as you on both.
  13. Foster would have beaten WB like a dead rented mule. You're mistaking Beaumont schools with schools who are actually good at football. I saw WB twice, once in a loss to a Memorial team that was pretty bad.
  14. Y'all need to get off the small school stuff. WOS would have beaten WB like a rented mule. And you know where the hating stuff comes from. He's been bashing WOS on threads on this site way before this season. Little green monster in full effect. And it's not so much the opinion on who won - arguments can be made for all the kids. But to say a kid who had over 200 tackles shouldn't have been nominated? That's just ignorant...
  15. I had heard it wasn't about the money and even if Texas matched, he was leaving because he is apparently really tight with Chavis. Well played Brick.
  16. Hope it is rocking. Big game for this team and could be a huge momentum swing on the season. Maybe tonight's win will provide a spark for the fans. If they had lost, could have been disasterous for Saturday's turnout/atmosphere.
  17. Horns 5-3 vs ranked teams this year. Needs to continue with No. 25 Baylor, No. 2 Kansas, and No. 3 Oklahoma down the stretch. Pretty impressive first season so far for a coach putting in a new system.
  18. I said before the season started one of the biggest challenges for Silsbee would be to manage all the depth they have and keep the players happy/engaged. When coaching, it is not easy to do that and many coaches prefer to be 7 or 8 deep so as not to have that headache. Sigler has done a masterful job with this IMO.
  19. From what I hear, it is. Everything else is a formality.
  20. Not "mandatory" but certainly "customary" from what I understand.
  21. Moved up in the local rankings this week. Looks like may have picked up another voter or two.
  22. He also blocked my guy, ChuckF'nStrong. Ole Bert needs to lighten up...
  23. The projection was late the month or early March. I think that's still the hope. But you never know with foot injuries, especially with a giant like Ridley.
