Twenty, yes 2 decades ago, they was a great place.  Whatever happened for it to fall so far?

That’s a great question.   Under Bill McCartney, he had that program rolling.  After him, seems like they had a season or two of success with Gary Barnett but other than that, been pretty bad.  I’m not saying Deion can’t revive that program but I think he eventually gets a job that is easier to turnaround if he stays out for now.

Lots of chatter on twitter about Coach Prime taking the Colorado job this weekend.

Yep.  I think I would wait for a better spot if I were him.  I think he would improve that program but I think a better job will come along.

Well, I will have more commentary later. Still a little in my feels and disappointed in result.

Going to head up to Big Sandy and watch some Big Sandy Wildcat basketball tonight vs. Huffman. Maybe have a few beers along the way.

Kevin Foster basketball is good for the soul.

As for your Tigers, that’s just about as brutal a way to go out as it gets.  Silsbee has a right to grieve this one for a while.  I know it’s going to sting for a long while. Maybe another basketball ring will help salve the wound.

They are unbeaten, but their schedule is trash.  The big guys get penalized for playing top teams.  Gonzaga is 5-2 but their pre conference schedule will match up with anyone.

In all fairness, when Mattress Mack bets on you to win it all, it should be good for about 5-7 spots in the poll.  That’s just good mojo.

Not a fan of it either.

Tradition at Kyle Field was to never allow the crowd to go on to field but that has waned in the last several seasons.

I honestly didn't like that we rushed the field last night after going 5-7 for the year.

I saw that after I posted A&M had as well.  I thought that was a big no-no there so thanks for the clarification.  I remember in my visits there walking on grass anywhere was strictly verboten and I certainly was respectful of that tradition.

  6. I’m not a fan but I’m also not a killjoy.  Let the students celebrate big wins.  But with last night’s win over OU, Tech rushed the field in 3 out of their 7 wins this year.  The Texas win seemed bigger at the time, but Cougar High and a 6 win OU team?  A bit much imo.

  7. Look I’m sure the Perrault kid is amazing.  But the best player on the best team in the district (on both sides of the ball) was a layup MVP.  Add to that he rushed for almost 2500 yards (on way less Carries than you would think)?  A QB would need to pass for about 3500 yards or have about 4-5k all purpose yards to put up similar numbers.  I highly doubt that’s the case here.  This was just another example of watering down awards to make sure everyone gets a ribbon.  Been going on for years and it is what it is.  Even when it’s as easy as it was here.

  8. Senior day for maybe my all time favorite Longhorn.  I think he still has a lot of football left in his career but he represents everything that college athletics should be about.  Probably not what he envisioned (or what we envisioned) when he arrived at the 40 acres.  But his time there won’t soon be forgotten by the Longhorn faithful.  Well done Shug.  You’ve made all of us proud.

The Bears made a splash last year when the injury bug kept them from a shot at the semis (same thing happened to WOS)

We were a mobile/consistent passing QB away from a potential repeat of last years success with the Lumberton game being the only game we still struggle in (they are good)

As far as the WOS game need I remind you that the player that single handedly beat us will be dressing out in green and gold next year due to all the issues south of I-10.

With the Chevron project coming in dozens of new families will be moving in and look for quality education and athletic opportunities. Guess where they'll go? 10 sophomores starting with 14 returning overall plus JV talent. If Peevey can take advantage of some of these potential possibilities, they will fill the void on the gridiron where the Silver and Blue once dominated.

And yes it looks to be a stellar year in Basketball and Baseball.

Good post and I don’t disagree with a single word of that.  I guess other than one WOS player single-handedly beating the Bears and I don’t disagree with that because I missed that game and can’t confirm or deny it.  But I get your point.

Lol LCM had winning season😂. But i know your a lcm hater

And for the record, the Bears are my 4th favorite team in SETX and pull for them in 90% of the games they play.  Also have family that plays for them.  So definitely not a hater.  Some of their fans can be super annoying at times but that’s literally every school (although some have more than others).

My original post was an attempt to cheer up the OP and a little trollish at some of our resident Bears. On a bright note, the Bears should be formidable in the other two big sports.

You both lost in the first round of the playoffs and WOS beat you head to head.  I know moral victories may be more of a thing north of the interstate, but what are we claiming here?  6-5 vs 5-6?  In a year where teams were lined up to get their kicks on the Mustangs like below, the Bears still played the little brother role.  You call it being a hater, I call it being non-delusional.
