  1. I agree. That the committee is figuring out what the rest of us has known. Overrated clap clap clap clap clap! But congrats to those old Aggies for being a huge part of that ;)
  2. You said it. I really don't remember a year with more parity than this one. Really wish there were 8 teams in a playoff this year. It would be wide open, even with that many teams.
  3. Sooo true. It's when now and then is almost always. Nothing wrong with it unless you want to best prepare your team for the playoffs. It was maybe the biggest no brainer hire in the history of high school sports but I love what Coach Davis has been doing with the Hawks. HJ has officially become the equivalent of WOS football in terms of being more fortunate than anyone deserves with coaching hires.
  4. #secondtonone* ** *except for some **for awhile some years ago By the way, Happy Vets day to you Buddy G. (And to the others of you who nobly served). You guys will always be the true heroes in my book...
  5. Me too. I'm not a Mustang but I do root for them most of the time when we aren't playing them. You can't help but like the Dallas kid.
  6. No jokes sir. Strictly forbidden once the scrimmages start...
  7. I thought I answered the question. They will have other guards but TJ and especially Nijal are more point forwards. If you have watched Central in the past, expect more of the same. Not like Jacory and Dominique were set up the offense, traditional point guards. In terms of who will be leading the team, it is who you should expect - Nijal and TJ.
  8. I have a snap shot of Memorial's. I will text it to you.
  9. I thought he was doing his best Mittens Romney impersonation. No worries, he will flip right back once he visits again and realizes Baylor is still in Waco...
  10. By guards do you mean Nijal and TJ as they are slicing in defenses in route to dunking on some heads?
  11. Actually, winwin is already on double secret probation. AAW confirmed.
  12. Have you guys looked at HJ's schedule? The days of the Hawks eating mostly cake before district are apparently long gone.
  13. I'm glad we won't be eligible likely this year. I am afraid the 59 yard bar would be a little high...
  14. I didn't actually know it but I had a sneaking suspicion. And no offense intended. Just having some fun with you! Good grief - I've had to hear about 59 yards for almost a year now!!
  15. i would hope that's the theory of 5 of the voters. But that is probably not the theory of some who vote. Like many other polls in sport, that may be exactly how they vote. And in the end, it really doesn't matter for 2 reasons: 1) it's just for fun and makes for interesting conversation and debate and 2) 6 out of the 11 voters got it right ;)
  16. In many ways, I see a lot of parallels with Sumlin and Mack. Obviously, they are both exceptional recruiters, although Mack was more of a mama recruiter and Sumlin strikes more a chord with the kids with all his swag. The coordinators are the key. Mack was fortunate to have 2 of the best QBs in the history of a storied program back to back (Vince and Colt) and could have had another if he hadn't made the daddy dealing mistake with Simms (over Major). This is another apparent parallel with Murray. Along with Mack's fortune with 2 QBs, he also found 2 really good DCs on the other side of the ball by raiding Auburn for successive coordinators with Czisik and Boom. I still think Chavis was that kind of hire for Swaggy. It remains to be seen whether Kyler is that kind of QB. There is no doubt the talent is there though IMO.
  17. That's just solid planning. After the DC made its recent ruling, we needed something else for Nederland to whine about
  18. PNG will tell you, I think, there is not a team in your district that plays defense like the Stangs. And they have as good a QB as anyone around, and tons of speed. I'm not saying they would beat Nederland because that's too close to call IMO. But I wouldn't bet much on either team in that matchup.
  19. Foster is a bad loss? (despite being a 5A playoff team that has 2 losses, one to George Ranch). Also has a win over an always solid A&M Consolidated. But WOS played in a weak district (again 169-3), the 3rd place team of which took Kirbyville to the mat when they escaped Orangefield with a close win? (24-14 or 27-17 something like that) But I keep forgetting Kirbyville apparently improves at a higher rate than anyone else, especially after beating a ranked 3A team. But at least you admitted it Who else wants to own up? My boy Buddy G?
  20. Huge addition, no pun intended.
  21. Ha! I think he might still be a little in this area because I don't think a lot of people see him. He's not anymore outside this area for sure. He got moved to the point this summer and put on an absolute show. With his strength and build, combined with his ball handling and vision, he had a lot of people talking. I can tell you a couple of high D1 coaches who are fans. The beauty for Kelly is Tevin has really improved at the 1 and they can use Valsin elsewhere (he's one of those kids that you can plug in at 4 different spots). Saw Tevin play recently a couple of times and couldn't believe how much he's improved at running an offense. I know a wingnut on here who will tell you it's coaching
  22. I have to agree. If he can recruit, Texas will be a perennial Sweet Sixteen type team with some deeper runs. I will say this, the man knows how to coach defense. Barnes left the cupboard far from bare and from what I've seen so far, the defense they are already playing is more intense than I've ever seen on the 40 acres. He could very well be an absolute home run.
  23. Maybe it's the liberal in me but I never have a problem with people making a peaceful stand in something they believe in. I don't know all the particulars with Loftin but there appear to be some serious issues at MU. Sounds to me that he didn't get out in front of it like he probably should have and it cost him his job. But as far as the kids go, they would have lost some games they wouldn't get back. And they were willing to do it based on what they believe in. Good for them. As I heard on one of the shows on this, the Clippers' players could have taken such a stand.
  24. Agree. Agree. And agree.
