Dead on, Mack. Quoted for truth.

I know that is your hope and I guess it depends on your definition. If you are arguing Texas won't return the dominance of 60-70s, maybe. If you are arguing they won't return to the success of the last decade, I think that is wishful thinking. Texas is and will be the flagship of a football crazy state. A&M has had the upper hand at times, most notably during a stretch in the mid 80s thru mid 90s. And then the right guy came in and after a struggle, climbed to the top of the mountain, while spending most of a decade as a 10+ win, top 5 team. Baylor and TCU simply don't have the support or resources to stay above Texas or A&M for a sustainable period. Hell, if Patterson had chosen to play his cards differently, Briles would already be gone at Baylor. And, as much as you don't like to hear it, Texas is a national brand, and more so than any other school, the national brand. It's why schools like LSU who don't and haven't played except on rare occasions, still have an animosity towards Texas (I use LSU as an example because of examples on this board). If you don't believe me about the brand, ask Nike, Under Armour, ABC/Disney/ESPN, or any other partner who pays (or are willing to pay) Texas more than any other school. It's not because they have a soft spot. It's because of the Texas marquee. Go to New York City, LA, Atlanta, Chicago. I have and almost invariably see people in Texas gear. I always try, time permitting, to inquire about their affiliation to the school. The vast majority of the time, they are just fans and have no other tie to the school or the state (or t shirt fans as aggy would disdainfully call them). So, while you are correct that the landscape has changed (who would have ever thought Baylor and TCU would be top 5 teams, much less at the same time), there are just certain schools that are a hire away from being a perineal powerhouse. USC is one of those schools IMO. And Texas is definitely one of those schools. The only question remains is if Charlie Strong is/was that hire...

Exactly. To the kids, some games are big games, regardless of whether that team isn't very good that particular season. For instance, Michigan was pretty bad last year but I'm sure to the kids at Minnesota, beating them was a huge deal. And whether we like it or not, in the Big 12, Texas is a team other schools love to hate, regardless of records.

the big difference is our tradition is only 10 years old now I will admit you guys are much better at it having 7.5 times the practice
-
that would have been awesome !
-
They lost to Kentucky and Mizzou, both of whom A&M would be big favorites against. They beat ULL by a touchdown. Not saying they are DII bad but A&M should win easily.

USC led ASU 35-0 at half. You wonder if USC is a monster just waiting for the right coach.

He stays healthy he will be a rich man.

Aggies are all about tradition. Wait til next year is a 76 year old tradition...

Can't even believe we are trying to find justification for this guy's action. Was the student out of line? Of course. Should she have not disrupted class and then left when told to? Yes. Did the officer need to topple the desk to get her out of it? Maybe. Did he need to sling her across the room before cuffing her? Get the hell out of here. And let's not forget who is the kid and who is the adult. I will go ahead and make a presumption too since there are plenty of those made on this board and in this thread. Maybe before taking his next job (since he no longer has this one), he might want to lay off the 'roids. Should help with the anger issues. Smh

This is the perfect opponent at this juncture for TAMU. They could start Bill Murray at QB and beat the Gamecocks.

I can't imagine A&M losing again other than the LSU and they will probably lose that game. I drank the aggie kool aid again this year prior to the Bama and ole Miss games. My opinion now, however, has nothing to do with kool aid. It has to do with SC, Vandy, Auburn, and Western Carolina being pretty bad football teams. OT is right. If they split those games, heads will roll. I can't imagine them finishing worse than 4-1 in this stretch. And they are likely to finish exactly 4-1. They have and will benefit from scheduling this year.

Played a playoff game in their stadium once in HS. That was when they were still ETSU (before going to the dark side).

it's still pink out month for you

Swaggy has a way to go to catch some of his cohorts. My favorite story was when Leach was at Tech. A buddy of mine that lives there had finished playing golf and was in the bar of a popular upscale steakhouse. It's a popular watering hole for business types and was frequented at the time by Leach. He knew Mike from the bar and went and took a seat by him. Leach was drinking alone and was watching ESPN or whatever. Within about 2 minutes of my friend sitting down, Leach proceeds to puke all over the bar. Apparently he had been drinking awhile. My buddy escaped with minimal collateral damage.

except when Texas comes to town. There were far more TCU fans at that game. Unlike most games like you talk about, they tend to come out in force against the Longhorns.

And maybe I wasn't clear I was talking overall conference standings. I thought that was obvious when I referenced last year's T-9th finish, seeing as how there aren't 9 teams in a division. But yOU never know with aggy math ;)
-
A&M is tied for 6th. 5 teams have better conference records. It maybe new Texas math to you. It would just be called Math to Moses and Abraham. Texas is alone in 5th. Thanks for asking :)

that game was in Ft. Worth.

Attention Double Dave's
-
They are tied for 6th overall. Actually an improvement if it holds to last year's T-9th.

I don't know why "Iowa Steak" cracks me up but it does...

They even had a home game against Kansas. Wow.
