  1. KK's comments were hilarious but a bigger question is begged. How dumb is Bert? He goes on what is basically a goodwill recruiting jaunt in a state he needs to be successful. And he tells the room full of coaches, most of whom at the top schools run the spread, that they are idiots for running their offense. This guy is a real genius...
  2. I always thought Chris Ault was one of the best coaches in CFB with what he was able to do with that program. I think Polian's son has a chance to keep them competitive.
  3. Have predicted before he will be the next aggy coach. Still think it could happen.
  4. In his second start as a freshman, Heard beats Vince Young's school record for total yards in a game. 527 yards (Young had 506 vs okie lite).
  5. How did Nevada look? Serious question. They've had some pretty decent teams over the years.
  6. Talked to one of my Tech buddies. Heard Mahomes had another great game. Ahem. Love Kliff's comments after game too. I wonder if Bret found today's game "erotic"?
  7. Couple of post-game thoughts: Heard has a chance to be special. Real special. Defense is awful. Youngsters need to grow up quick. $8 tall boys at stadium are awesome. Real awesome.
  8. They did not get here until after school had started. Every effort has been made to put these kids in the best situation possible after the unfortunate experience in Atlanta. Both are good kids that are adjusting and hopefully will have a much better experience in SETX.
  9. Ha! But it's academics of course! Easily the best school in SETX where those are concerned.
  10. If it's the kid I'm thinking of, he's still in Cleveland. There was some talk of him going to Kelly but he ended up staying there.
  11. I am sure it is quite beautiful. And perhaps it is more of a second world country. But it does rank third in the world in terms of population of the extremely poor or people living in abject poverty. So I would guess it is safe to say the opportunities here (especially educationally) would greatly exceed what they had there. Which was my point...
  12. Preach! We are talking about a young man who left a third world country and will be using his God-given talents to get opportunities he never would have gotten where he was born. And yes, part of that will be playing on a shoe circuit in front of literally hundreds of coaches. And, as Dove said, the circuits are there for multiple reasons, not the smallest of which is for the convenience of the NCAA coaches.
  13. well then, should we compare their starts at this point then? Would that be apples to apples? Guess who had better numbers. All I said was that I predict Patrick will go down as the best. Obviously, he has a lot to do to get there. What he has more of than those two is talent. Which is why I mentioned the NFL. Last I checked, making the league and playing has a little to do with how good you are. After all, it's the highest level. Again, we can revisit this subject in 3 years. Far be it from me to tell you I told you so ;)
  14. And, by the way, it certainly didn't hurt that Kliff had Welker and Harrell had Crabtree. In both instances, the wideout was certainly better than the QB.
  15. Will be similar starts then. Patrick got a late start as a freshman. And he can't help if his team wasn't as good as Graham had. He will have most of the records IMO. And I will predict he will be in the league much longer than Harrell with a chance to actually be productive there. Although Graham did provide some comic relief when he had to play briefly there.
  16. Full disclosure: his old man and I are the same age and grew up in the same part of the state. Played against each other in some sports and with each other in one in summer ball. Pat was 1st team all state in the big 3 as a QB, guard, and pitcher. Led the state in scoring in 3A in hoops and was drafted out of high school in baseball. Spent over a decade in the show as a middle inning reliever. Patrick was also a 3 sport star. His dad was a better hooper and turned into a better pitcher (although Patrick was probably close in HS). But it is no contest in football. If he wasn't at Tech, he would probably be on most Heisman watch lists right now. Kid is something special.
  17. Just watch when it's all said and done. He's got their ability to read defenses, better arm, and way more athleticism. The benefit he has, as they did, is he will be a 4 year starter (barring injury). BJ Symons was IMO the most athletic QB prior to Patrick. He just had to wait too long to get on the field. Mahomes is the real deal and will go down as their best. Again, if he stays healthy. You can agree with me in 3 years ;)
  18. It's gonna happen. Sometimes you care enough about a kid that it's more important than your alma mater. It will only be for 4 years tops but this kid is one of my favorites. Up there with Laquarious Paige out of WOS. Go Sycamores.
  19. Buddy, is Dauphine redshirting? Really looking forward to him and Mahomes in the backfield together. Speaking of, Patrick has been Big 12 player of the week 3 weeks in a row (last week of last season and first 2 this year). Something like 1400 yards passing, and 18 tds against 2 picks. This kid will end up being the best QB Tech ever had and will be interesting to watch against the Arky D. Put it this way, he is better than OU's and VT's starting QBs who transferred out of Lubbock. And Stidham made a wise decision going to Baylor because I don't think he would have seen the field until his 4th year on campus.
  20. He is putting a very young team on the field, especially on defense. I have a bad feeling Saturday may be ugly. Sonny Dykes is an offensive guru (ask Mike Leach) and I can assure you their QB is better than Rice's backup who looked like Aaron Rodgers against us in the 4th quarter. I'm still not sure whether Charlie will get us where we need to be or not. I have a lot of respect for the man and am rooting for him. But with a school with Texas' resources, you don't have a decade to turn it around. The leash is pretty short when you have guys used to winning and will make money no object to make that happen.
  21. Also as nice a guy as you will meet. I have a year left but beginning next season, I am going to be forced to be an Aggie basketball fan. You guys have a point guard coming in that is something special and I just can't root against. I am glad he has a year left in HS and won't be on the floor when we play each other in the Bahamas. I would have really had a rough time with that game.
  22. The biggest problem in beating Central is that they easily have the 2 best players in the district, before the 7'3" kid was even in the picture.
