  1. Maybe you guys should just try to just be second this year. Speaking of the SEC, of course. Although Big 12 also ran Mizzou does a pretty good job of getting second in the all powerful SEC.
  2. who can blame him? I'd rather talk to Mrs. Dove too ;)
  3. Kraft caved too early in trying to make peace and end the circus, neither of which happened. This whole ordeal was a colossal waste of time and resources. The Berman opinion was spot on IMO and pointed out the many fallacies in the process. To me, this is further proof that Goodell needs to go. The one constant with him is that he so clearly has no sense of fairness or consistency. As his job has morphed into judge and jury, it is evident that he is ill-equipped to do that job. The owners need to "fish and cut bait" with him. The league is too big and profitable to have this clown at the helm.
  4. weisbrod is back home but at LSC-PA, not Ned
  5. Jokes aside, HJ should be a slight favorite in this game if they play this year (@ Memorial), assuming Roberts is healthy. IMO anyway. Memorial will be very young with a new coach (although talented and a very good hire IMO). They are a year away from being very good.
  6. Here is what I don't understand: I am for a good, peaceful protest more than the next guy. I think there are wrongs in society and the only way you fix them is by being heard. I also understand (or perhaps empathize is a better word) some of the frustration. BUT it is illegal, at least in this State (and I am fairly certain in most states) to threaten another person with violence. In Texas, we call it a "terroristic threat." Granted, I have seen on numerous occasions this particular crime overlooked by authorities. But we have seen an outbreak of violence and this type of discourse appears to even be inching others. The bottom line is that freedom of speech does not extend to threatening someone with any form of violence, much less murder. So, my question is how are some of these so-called protests not considered criminal? Maybe tvc can explain to me a difference I'm not seeing...
  7. will be tough for anyone at the 4A level to beat Bridgeport this year. After Patterson graduates though, Silsbee could be the favorite. If they are able to manage their depth and find a rhythm, they are definitely a favorite to make it to SA. If so, they will likely be at the top of the polls next year...
  8. Silsbee will be better than Memorial this year. I predict if HJ plays Memorial in the Gamble again, it will be another great game. Central should have the best team regardless of classification this year. '06-'07 it should be Silsbee.
  9. I'll have what that guy is having. Must be some quality stuff... But back on topic, isn't A&M favored over ASU? How would that be an upset?
  10. I must admit, his candor is a breath of fresh air. I would much rather all of them be up front about their belief systems than try to couch it in political correctness and avoid taking any real stances. I also like that he "thinks outside the box." And because of the way he has made a fortune (bankruptcies or not), he has had to be somewhat of a renegade. I do think he holds certain views he has not publicized due to the seeming necessity of pandering to the far right to get a nomination, but I can't really blame him for that. I fully anticipate he would be true to his core beliefs if he were elected, regardless of how it is perceived by anyone. I never would have thought this a few months ago, but I am beginning to believe his campaign has real "legs."
  11. My biggest issue with Trump is his negative comment about Heidi Klum's looks. At 42, she's still way hotter than any of his multitude of wives... I can forgive that lapse in judgment though. After all, all of his wives were better looking than any of my man Clinton's women...
  12. Find out if he needs Major Applewhite's number. I think I have it around here somewhere...
  13. This may be a little off topic but I have never been a proponent of "hate crimes." They became the flavor of the month after the Matthew Shepherd, James Byrd, etc. murders. But to me, all violent crimes have some level of hate. And they all should be punished accordingly. Currently, our felonies in Texas (not including "state jail felonies") can bear punishments, depending on the classification, of 2 to 10 years, 2 to 20 years, and some 5 to 99 years (or life). There is plenty of range in these (which violent offenses are mostly in the latter two categories) to assess punishment based upon a variety of factors, including race-based violence. To add a "hate crime" to it just adds another element for the prosecution to have to prove and for a defendant to use to try and gain acquittal. The most ridiculous example I have seen lately is A&M Hoops Coach Billy Kennedy's son being charged in Louisiana for a hate crime for removing a sign from an abortion clinic. I kid you not. A hate crime for removing a sign. I think what he did was wrong, was vandalism, and he should face punishment accordingly. But a "hate crime?" C'mon man. Just my 2 cents and this comes from someone who is way left of most on this board, regardless of ethnicity. [Hidden Content]
  14. See, we can agree on things across the "aisle." Couldn't agree more. Now get back to outlining some cases!
  15. Regardless of talent, Boutte was a great coach. And learned from another of the great ones.
  16. 8 is the perfect number for me too. But prefer 9 or 10 over 7 - for foul trouble reasons and fresh legs. Wouldn't know what to do with 15 kids who could really go. Which is why Silsbee is fortunate to have Joe Sigler and not me trying to coach that bunch. I am sure he will get it figured out. #richpeopleproblems
  17. Darrell Dawkins died today at age 58. Details are scarce right now. Just reading his name makes me nostalgic for the NBA of my youth. Rest in peace big man.
  18. Imagine how good Kevin Garnett and Moses Malone's HS coaches must have been. And Kobe's? Has to be the GOAT coach!
  19. Get him to a Silsbee-HJ game. He might be the third best coach in the gym (I kid, I kid...kinda)
  20. And perhaps more importantly, with that deep bench, fresh legs...
  21. Trump is as close to fitting that bill as anyone.
  22. exactly. If we're not careful, CFB could become the NFL (national felons league). We give you guys a hard time but I have no issue with Sumlin or anyone else giving kids a second chance (with a small suspension) for alcohol related offenses (PI, dwi, etc.). We were all young once and there were times I didn't handle the booze well in college myself. Thank the Lord, I never ended up in a jail cell but for His grace, I could have. College is a learning experience and there are bumps along the way. However, if you haven't learned by that it's not okay to assault women long before college, sexually or physically, you have no business representing a university on the playing field. Or even on a campus with the opportunity to do it again. Online classes at University of Phoenix is your friend at that point.
