Mitchell would have “Red Rovered” the heck out of that lead. You would have seen a whole different version of the “picket fence” that whole 4th quarter. Watch the Mustangs give Silsbee their biggest challenge in the 2nd half of district though (which could be simply less than 30 but still). -
Kountze 67 East Chambers 64/FINAL

When shots are falling Kountze can beat anyone. When they aren’t, they will struggle (a la OF). I’ve thought EC was the second best team in the district all year but they got a comfortable win in Winnie. We will see how it goes Friday. But there isn’t a great margin between any of the top 5 teams in that district (adding Anahuac and Buna). Any can beat the other (even comfortably) on any given night. -
I was thinking the same thing. I don’t remember wanting to go to a JV game where I didn’t have a rooting interest. I’m really tempted to go catch a Silsbee JV game. That group is about as dominant as it gets.

Kountze is about to be a problem again. -

Ben Elliott with 23 & 10 to go over 2000 career points and become LCM’s all time leading scorer (passing Jason Throop). He’s certainly the best LCM player (in my opinion) since Throop. -

Kountze 67 East Chambers 64/FINAL

He was and deservedly so. IF he’s not the best player in the district now, he definitely should be the next two years. But he’s putting up all state number as a sophomore. There are some really fun kids to watch in this district. Sells is probably the most exciting of the bunch. -

Huffman is 0-3 now against HJ and HF (with HF winning by double digits on the road). Huffman also 0-2 against BC and LCM, two possible first round playoff opponents. I would say they are the best of the rest in that district but a notch below the other two. Definitely played the Hawks close twice though and should be commended. -

Sounds like one of those gut check wins after a bit of a big game hangover. Wins like that build character. Good for the Hawks. -

Big time win for your Lions. Basketball is better around here when Kountze is good. -
It would be even funnier if it weren’t true!

Not for a while. Remi and Alex don’t have any kids yet to my knowledge and Garrison is the baby. I wonder how many they have combined. 12 years of varsity experience between the 3?

How much would our buddy Stevenash have enjoyed this one? -

Yep - to be the man, you gotta beat the man. -
Earl and Bubba are quietly sitting in a boat fishing, chewing tobacco, and drinking beer when Bubba suddenly says, “I think I’m gonna divorce the wife. She ain’t spoke to me in over 2 months.” Earl spits overboard, takes a long slow sip of beer and says, “Better think it over buddy. Women like that are hard to find.”

There is better reception in a war shelter in Bucharest than the Buna gym.

I think you might be right. -
Speaking of $13 million dollars, my understanding is that UNC has a $13m per year annuity that has been purchased. From what I was told, the intent is for each scholarship player on the Men's basketball team to receive $1m per year from said annuity. You can bet Kentucky, Kansas, Duke, and some others won't be far behind.

POSTPONED GAMES DUE TO WEATHER/Post here

Atascocita at United postponed til tomorrow -
I’m sure that had a lot more to do with Coach Chief whatever than Steve Worster. I will say the man was smart enough to hand the ball off to the best running back in the country every play.

You are exactly right. Thanks 👍

Halfway thru district play assessment
TxHoops replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in High School Boys Basketball
Agree on both counts. However, I always feel a little silly when I get surprised about a Coach Boutte team playing well and above expectations. You know? -
Yes he is. He’s a very good sophomore. And if it’s hyperbole, I get it. But people are getting a little overhyped after a win over a Buna team that struggled with Kirbyville last game. And he wasn’t even the best player in the gym when Kountze got donkey punched earlier this week.
