All D1 schools can afford to pay their football and basketball players a stipend. It's not going to be a bidding war on players - if anything, it's going to be a set amount (believe me it will be modest or the greedy b%^|€€\s wouldn't approve it) going to each athlete. And as for the SHs, SFAs, and Lamars, it's not like they are competing for the same players as the Texas's and A&Ms anyway. Granted, girls soccer may not get the same benefits (except in Aggieland) but they also aren't bringing in any revenue. This is a capitalist society we live in, after all.

I'm sure. I have a feeling I'm not going be able to stomach you for a week or so after the game ðŸ˜

So again, you ASSume that I have no proof. Once again, I could give you concrete examples of several instances of major violations/cheating. Almost all of them involve an SEC school (3 different ones off hand come to mind). All come from either a coach, a booster involved, or a kid/family. I would NEVER put a kid's name on the internet nor snitch on a kid or his family. Again, none of my business. But you are correct - me saying it is true does not make it true. The fact that it happened makes it true. You can assume I have no proof all you want. But you know what they say about assuming...

A little off topic (and maybe already in here somewhere), but heard this a.m. that Buna's Tyler Edwards committed recently to Sam. Good get for the Kats! -
For the record, I personally don't care what a recruit or his family gets. These kids are used in a multi-billion dollar industry under the guise of a free education. And then they are told which BS classes to take so they can stay eligible and we are hardly educating them. Personally, I think the rules are the rules and you should play by them but that's me. I would never report or judge a kid or his family because I'm not here to impose my morals or beliefs on them. If a school wants to pay them or their kid or get them a job, and they're cool with it, so be it. My name is Paul and that's between y'all.

UA throwing a lot of money into the market. Nike ultimately decides who they want to keep with their wallet. Only little sister schools have to go Adidas.

Would be a hell of a game. The '05 Horns, '04 & '05 Trojans were pretty good too. I think I would take the '01 Canes against anyone. If they woulda had an elite QB (and yes, I know Dorsey was a very good college QB), I would take them against anyone by A LOT.

Of course the SEC hasn't had that many violations. Thieves don't snitch on each other. They were dismayed at the lack of "decorum" on the Cam Newton fiasco. But ask any D1 coach where cheating is most rampant. I promise you virtually all of their answers will be the same. The 2002 infraction was for paying recruits? I didn't think so. When was A&M last competitive? Yeah, mid 90s...
-
I will admit I don't know what's going on with Strong but cheating does not fit his MO and if he is, he's not particularly good at it. I do know of 2 kids in particular who sat in Mack Brown's office and asked for "a deal." Both were told "best of luck, we're not interested." Both ended up at SEC schools.

Typical banter because history shows that's been the case...

No question about that. I think the honeymoon will be over next year. I am rooting for the guy even though I didn't like the hire because I truly believe he tries to do things the "right way." But he works for a pretty unpopular AD and a lame duck president. We also have a Longhorn football-crazy governor-elect who's about to blow up the BOR. He's gonna have to win and pretty quickly.

You know it's mutual :). My prayers are with you, your father and your family, brother.

Yes - hey teamfirst! How's it going bro!

I know you watch way more Rockets games than I do King so I will take your word for it. I have seen 4 this year (all on tv) I think. The ones I saw his d might be improved, but it definitely wasn't what I would call good. The thing that has bothered me with him is that being a poor defender hasn't been because of talent, it's effort. But I am glad he is playing better D. He certainly is more than capable of it.

"Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it.." Well, without the conference championships I guess...

You are the resident expert on looking silly... However....the L$U example isn't gossip. That info comes from THE source. You can choose to believe what you want. Fact is, anytime the Ags have been relevant for any period of time (in the non-leather helmet era), they have been caught cheating. They join the dirtiest conference there is and all of a sudden they aren't getting the culls year in and year out like they were, despite consecutive 7th and 9th place conference finishes. The only difference in this stretch and the previous ones is that this time you apparently don't have a coach who can take those paid players and win.
-
If by feet, you mean pockets, then I agree with you. One of your brethren just predicted aggy would win the NC season after next and we can't handle the truth? 😂😂😅
-
I can take you to an L$U practice and walk around the parking lot. Virtually every vehicle is from the same dealership. The guy who owns/runs the dealership is not an L$U alum, not a booster, but sits in a box at every game. And has been providing Tiger$ with wheels for over a decade.

Geez - I wonder why???? 😂😂😂😂😂 The smell of the Mississip just that alluring?

The SEC is the deciding factor. Why? Let's look back at the previous times A&M bested UT in recruiting. What happened? What was the deciding factor? Was it that Collie Station was more desirable than Austin? Was it that A&M had suddenly become a better institution than Texas? Maybe, but maybe not $$$$ A&M went the conference where $$$ is rampant and there is no shame in $$$howing recruits the benefits of playing in that conference. It is no secret that it is the dirtiest of the dirty. But I'm sure, unlike last time, A&M is running a clean ship. I mean, I hear College Station is lovely now this time of year... So let's just step off our little recruiting soap boxes and call a spade a spade. The sad part is this time you can't even buy wins. Eventually, they will at least go where they can profit and win....

Har_en needs to learn to play on both ends of the floor. He would never get my vote as long as he is so blatantly lazy on defense. :/
-
Christian is flipping to OU too?!?!? Dang that was quick!
-
Sumlin - less with more... Did I read correctly that someone predicted a NC year after next? Must be that upward trend in results...oh wait! As for the non-conference schedule, ASU is a decent game, although I'm sure it looked like a cupcake when scheduled. It will be a nail biter on whether the Ags are bowl eligible next year. The O/U in Vegas on Aggie wins was 7 this year. Should be about the same next year. If it gets to 7.5 or 8, I may have to come out of retirement.

That boy Johnny!

The OL decommits bothers me more than the RB. The coaches are all over another Rb in that class who was in Austin last weekend. If he commits, that's their guy. And it's no secret. -
The guy that he lives with is a Tech alum named Matt Copeland. He is apparently pushing for Baylor. I have met Matt and have several mutual friends. This much I can confirm. My understanding is Matt's father (?) used to coach with Briles? This I don't know for a fact. I also heard from a pretty reliable source that Stidham's parents are encouraging him to go to school out of state. This is also hearsay though. I guess we will see what will happen. The Tech deal apparently blew up when Kliff wouldn't guarantee the kid (when asked directly by Copeland) that he wouldn't redshirt this year. They were trying to get a commitment from KK that he would be the leader to start next year. Kliff told them he would be given every opportunity. But in fairness to KK, he did just have a true freshman (Mahomes) throw for over 600 yards against the #5 team in the country. I think, in reality, this spooked the kid as well.
