  1. This is what happens when you send a mouse to do a bear’s job…
  2. I think there was a core of 4-6 players that were really wanted back (I don’t think this includes walk ons, and walk ons certainly got more minutes than expected this year). For the most part, I expect the team to look a lot different next year, with some juco transfers contributing heavily from the outset.
  3. I would like to ditto what Hagar said. Not only has this site given us hours upon hours of entertainment, many of us have formed friendships here as well. In fact, I don’t know I would have met the aforementioned Hagar if it weren’t for site, and that is a friendship I very much treasure. I’m not sure what this website looks like in the future, because when I think of SETXsports, I don’t think of the HS basketball board or the college board, even though those are the two I routinely visit. I think of WOSGrad and AggiesAreWe. I will miss you both. But i will take solace that AAW and a cold beer are only a drive to the beach away. Enjoy your retirement my friend. You deserve it.
  4. I like them too if Kerr really is able to come back healthy. I also like Gonzaga. They have the right combination of young studs and seasoned vets.
  5. I’m guessing there are a lot of teams in that A&M would be a favorite over. A lot. Conference tournaments should matter because it lets you know who the hot teams are. Pretty horrible snub.
  6. They had two return this year that were also their starters last year. One was diagnosed with a rare disease and missed the first half of district but was able to return the second half and made first team. He has another year.
  7. That’s where I have it too. Bears were deeper than the Mustangs so I would have them 2nd as well.
  8. They were. Just saying top to bottom talent wise, OF was at best the 4th most talented team.
  9. As for the timing of posting these teams, I think the following day is the general rule of thumb. It’s an etiquette thing to me. Not criminal but in poor taste imo. Like calling a timeout up ten under a minute for any reason other than to empty your bench.
  10. Tend to agree with all of that. I typically hate “co’s” because almost always one was better than the rest. I’m okay with McDonald being co or even coach of the year because he did the most with the least this year, imo. Harris was the mvp, Elliott deserved offensive poy, and honestly would have probably given Miller defensive because he was one of the best two players in the league period.
  11. Been struggling to get minutes. Otherwise, most of the time he gets decent minutes the kid has gone off. But they are on a helluva run so I won’t criticize.
  12. “Get off my lawn” alert! 😂
  13. Family Faith by 15. I hope I’m wrong.
  14. I am going by AAW’s house later with a bunch of plastic bottles and a water hose. I’m starting a Silsbee bottled water company. I don’t know what’s in it but it must be some good stuff.
  15. Just happy we play a solid PAC 12 team tomorrow. We aren’t getting better playing these weak a$$ SEC schools.
  16. Thank you Silsbee! I will be enjoying rubbing this win in through the end of July!
  17. I see what you did there, even if you didn’t 😉
  18. He would have been great.
  19. I’m going to take Silsbee 87-85. May be more of a heart over mind pick, but that’s what I’m going with. This is the matchup I’ve wanted to see all season (I don’t care as much about the Dallas teams) because they have clearly been the best two teams in our region all year long. These two have been on a collision course and I’m just glad people will get to see it. I say “people” because I won’t since the game fell at the exact same time as a game I can’t miss. Otherwise I would have gladly made the drive to Lufkin. But I will be following on my phone. Go Tigers!
  20. That’s the thing about Coach Sigler. Unlike certain teams over in Houston, he does make adjustments against certain teams. And the pressure where you just make them uncomfortable bringing it up is fine. You’re just keeping the ball in front of you and making the guards work. What doesn’t work well against BTW is the all-out, full court pressure where you are trapping and selling out to try and force turnovers. What you force against the elite teams is a lot of abuse of their rim after they’ve broken the press. Silsbee’s press is usually just a full court man that they will trap and jump the ball depending on circumstances (as opposed to a diamond and 1, etc.). And I know you are well aware of all of that. Just stating the differences for those who might not be.
  21. I will not argue with your time tested analytics as I have not studied the metric like you have. However, I will just hope that Silsbee has some SMRJs in their bag to offset their disadvantage in the dunk department..
  22. Silsbee needs to prove you can lose the dunk count and win the game tomorrow. Because I would bet a hefty sum they ain’t winning that stat against Booker T.
  23. Even after they “gelled,” Washington is just better. Period. Better players, superior size, and Yates never gets creative with their schemes. BTW must have had 20 dunks or more in those games against the back end of that press. JY played as well as they could have at home in the second outing and still almost lost by double digits. Silsbee has a great shot at another trip to state tomorrow. But don’t get it twisted that BTW and Yates were basically the same team at the end of the year. Line em up and play 10 right now and BTW wins at least 8 of them. Future is bright for the Lions, but through next season, HISD belongs to Booker T.
  24. Very good analysis. I agree. BTW 5 on 5 is a decided favorite. Going to come down to whether they can hold up. Playing twice in 24 hours favors Silsbee’s depth as well. The down side is they didn’t play well today and teams of that caliber don’t usually have back to back poor outings. Silsbee on the other hand was clicking and played well. Silsbee also will be on a few less hours rest which sometimes can make a difference. Booker T plays like they did today, Silsbee by 10. Lewis will likely bounce back and play much better. He tends to get a lot of points on teams that press as well. Will come down to whether the studs score 60-70 points on the tigers and whether that will be enough.
