  1. They did that twice. Kountze won 2 of 3 and then a couple years later, buna won 2 of 3.
  2. He wasn’t ever a D1 player according to some of the geniuses on here (well, one in particular). Only took him half of a freshman season to dispel that notion…
  3. Serious question: should Big Ned have moved on from Brian English for not winning state? Because a big reason he doesn’t have a ring is his loyalty to Nederland. He has had opportunities to move on to places he would have a much better shot at a ring. Or does the state title or failure not apply to sports where it takes far fewer athletes to be successful?
  4. Cool. Only 27 fouls and 18 tie balls until the boys play then…
  5. I guessing a certain group of young men, got their collective behinds chewed by a certain man, for sleep walking through the first half…
  6. We call “those seasons” just seasons.
  7. Highly recommend tuning into Beard’s return to Lubbock tonight. One thing about it, those Tech students rarely disappoint in these situations (well maybe their parents and their pastors but not those of us that enjoy their jackassery). Chris might want to wear a helmet on the bench.
  8. Stephenville wins that game with Smitty/Reagan coaching against Burnett. They were clearly the better team, and that was for all intents and purposes a home game for PNG (shoutout to Indian Nation who is second to none - well maybe second to 20th century MOJO). As I recall, Stephenville won by double digits, even after fumbling not once, but twice on the Indian 1 yard line. Just wasn’t that close. To be fair, that was one fine Yellowjacket team.
  9. As others have said, Peevey would appear crazy to be interested in this job. To deduce why, one would need not look further than LCM’s treatment of his predecessor (Crouch), and PNG’s treatment of his would-be predecessor, Faircloth. LCM has always paid their coaches really well (Crouch stayed one of the highest paid coaches in the area) and, maybe more importantly, the admins stay out of their way and let them do their thing.
  10. No one who knows my buddy Hagar would question that!! But we both had the good fortune or marrying (and staying married to) a beauty. And that’s more impressive anyway! (At least we can tell ourselves that 🤪)
  11. I love the Silsbee fans. They are so passionate, they start a pregame thread even when they are playing Bridge City.
  12. As long as you slept through the years in between. Lol. He’s a decent player. He’s not the best basketball player on his team this year, if all healthy. But it was a nice heater last night.
  13. Good news is Adams was out a month and his first game back he was instantly the best player in the gym. Kid is obviously supremely skilled but what gets me is how rarely he ever makes a bad decision. He almost always makes the correct basketball play. Basketball iq is through the roof. When you combine that with a kid that has all the physical gifts he has…man you really have something.
  14. It was. The other kid grabbed Jordyn’s whole left arm (as he drove past him) to the point that it turned him sideways with no call (in double bonus), then the kid who drew the foul actually stepped on Jordyn’s foot as he was going up. One of the Lamar photogs sent me the picture. That went from a 3 point play to give Lamar a tie or the lead to 3 out of 4 FTs on the other end. Same ref waves off a Harrison basket by calling travel on a sweet euro step. (He told Brooks after watching the replay “sorry I missed that one.” And the foul on Kason on the loose ball where the acu kid came across him to knock it out of bounds (which put them on the line and gave them 2 points at the line), was equally terrible. 3 huge sequences that all took away points and/or gave them points. All made by the same guy. Takes a lot to get Brooks to lose it. That ref really earned it.
  15. I will tell you what’s not better in the WAC. The darn zebras. One in particular was responsible for about 10 points the wrong way for Lamar today. Good news is next week we should get Catt back, as well as Ball hopefully (his first action of season). Adams first game back was today and he looked great.
  16. Yeah Remi was the reverse of all the kids who start late and are a year behind - he’s was a full year younger than his class. Alex was ended up being a heck of a player and was, as you know, a really good shooter even as a freshman. He was just a long way from what he ended up being, especially his last two years (as almost all freshman are. I know he chose to play football and he was an incredible player on the gridiron. And to the others, never said Buna didn’t have a some players over the years. They’ve never had a trio of players together like Harper, Arnold and Stanford. The fact that they went to toe to toe and won just as often is a credit to the Cougars and their coach. Now they gotta put that loss tonight behind them and continue to improve. The Buna-Kountze matchup has produced some gems over the years.
  17. One Connell, the oldest, was on that team with the Edwards. And he was the reverse of a reclass kid…he was a full year ahead in school. They were a nice team. But Kountze had the three best players on the floor. The middle Connell brother would have been a freshman when Arnold or Stanford was a senior.
