  1. That’s main reason for their toughness. The SETX dna (Beaumont and PA as well) includes a lot of toughness. Silsbee community, like WOS, would support coaches instilling such toughness. Not all communities would…like say, Palestine.
  2. Yep lol. Like clockwork, they score 26 & 21 today against the jacks. No idea what happened against Sam.
  3. I wonder how many realize how true this is (from a talent perspective)? In recent years, Silsbee is usually more talented than WOS (and especially depthwise). If Cornel had been Silsbee’s head coach during the time he was at WOS, hard to believe they wouldn’t have a ring or two. Especially because Silsbee, like WOS, would absolutely give him the freedom to coach.
  4. LCM has always paid more than the market demanded. In all other respects, they’ve always been pretty mediocre (with an outlier season here and there). Remarkable what he’s come in and done, especially in year one. Having said all that, he’s home and as LCMalum points out, a lot less craziness with that job. For the good Lord’s sake, look at what they endured for so long with Crouch. I don’t think the Steelers even give out that kind of job security…
  5. Gotcha - basically after Memorial opened. Based on accomplishments (in HS), that group is the second best since Memorial opened (except for Clover who started and played heavy minutes on the best Memorial team). Chatman, Valsin, Keller, Jones, Wesley, etc was clearly the best group.
  6. BJ Tyler and Steve Jackson say hello 😉
  7. As you know, the best basketball was long before any of those kids were there. In fact that bunch would have gotten run out of the gym by some of the teams that preceded them. Only Clover was a big contributor on the last PA state championship team (although Loftin got some minutes in a lot of their games). But in its glory years, there was even an extra school in the city…
  8. Definitely not from you. But I’ve heard that narrative many times before.
  9. Yes, brutal schedule combined with a team that literally hasn’t been healthy all season…I feel for the kids and coaches. And I really hope so too. There are a few of the local kids that some poaching overtures will be made to. I can tell you one will be back.
  10. And I don’t wanna hear about kids moving to Nederland because while they have had a good season and playing much better than Memorial, it isn’t because they are supremely talented this year.
  11. Yeah they may just be walking the halls. But I can’t imagine there were 4 years of kids born that didn’t have 10-12 boys who had the talent and toughness to hoop. We are talking Port Arthur, Texas. There aren’t many towns in the whole durn state with better basketball DNA.
  12. Man there is too much talent in PA for them not to be competitive every year.
  13. Two big wins for the Texas teams. Crazy night of basketball. Sam held Jabari Rice and Teddy Allen to a combined 2 points ( two of the best guards in the league).
  14. Adams should be back soon from injury. He’s been working out. Catt should as well, who has been out with covid/Illness. Sam beat NM St by 26 last night and SFA beat Grand Canyon by 24 I think. Lamar played both teams to the wire without those 2 starters, as well as another who would likely be starting if not injured.
  15. If we are talking pro, he isn’t in the same hemisphere as Mahomes.
  16. Taking a job behind not one, but two hall of famers is not an easy task. Especially when one of those hall of famers is as responsible as anyone for the first’s success. Not often is that a successful spot, especially for a first time coach. I hope Coach Hick kills it at WOS. Odds are long though - maybe Toby will apply again when the job opens in a couple of years.
  17. I was about to type the same thing. Great post, better screen name.
  18. Born and raised in Winnie I’m sure 🙄
  19. Me either. I doubt many, myself included, expected OF to even win, much less blow them out.
  20. Yeah he misspelled women’s soccer…
  21. Yes by far. Nice to have a 6-8 contributing piece for sure. But Lewis, if that game happens, will easily be the best player in the gym. And he is more of a wing than a post. Will be the best shooter in the gym as well.
  22. And those two kids in particular have experience playing against better dudes than Silsbee has to run out there. But not sure how solid their guards are. Tough to judge since Yates is apparently weaker than they have been in years. Hope you’re right though. Would be nice to see the Tigers back home in SA.
  23. You might be right but they are going to have to play better than they have since Dallas. Booker T is bigger than WOS and they have at least 2 high D1s (who are 6-7 or better).
