Hardin-Jefferson 65 Hamshire-Fannett 50/FINAL

Yikes. Reminds me of Lumberton and LCM punting the ball back and forth on 1st down a couple of years ago trying to dodge Carthage š. Iām kidding of course. Kind of. -
Not talking the last few years. Talking about those deep run Kountze teams with Arnold, Harper and Stanford teams. He played them .500 or better over that 5 year stretch and the talent wasnāt particularly close. I agree heās had more talent over the past few years. Has Kountze even beaten them over that time frame? Certainly not .500. Again, Joub is no doubt a good coach. Whitmire is just better imo. But again, itās close. I would probably have the 8-9 or 9-10 in a list of best coaches in th e area.
-
Thatās what I had heard somewhereā¦I think from AAW on this site. But not positive.
-
Thatās fair and most would have him 2. But I base mine off head to head and I will just say Whitmire has won some games against them Buna had no business winning. Kountze on talent should have been well into double figure favorites. But no doubt heās a very good coach. Somewhere toward the bottom of top 10 coaches in this area.
-
Lufkin I believe.
-
Solid coach who has always done a good job. Heās the third best coach in that district imo but thatās only because that district is probably the most top heavy in the area from a coaching standpoint. And one of those coaches has a lot better record against Joubert than he should from a talent standpoint.

No doubt. Really impressive first half of district, especially all things considered. -
Proof positive that one off recruiting year can really even things out š

Silsbee 92 Orangefield 47/FINAL

Probably about right. Heās the best shooter, ball handler and passer on the team. But 10-20 points sounds about right. But when you are thin offensively to begin with, pretty huge loss. Wouldnāt make much difference tonight but may in the battle for the next 3 spots. -

Haggerty is a nice player. Heās not close to Arceneaux or Yates imo. -

Yes and their best player has been out the last month after being diagnosed with a rare disease. No time table when he will be out. If you watched either of the Silsbee games with OF last year, you know who Iām talking about. -
I predict itās going to be a sad and shocking reality for Mustang nation when they start to look pretty pedestrian. Hall of Fame coaches donāt grow on trees. Again, I wish him the best but my prediction for Hickman? Heartburn and a lot of it.

Lamar has literally had 3 walk ons playing significant minutes. One of them, Senigaur, would probably have anyway but when you have had games with only 5 scholarship players available, often with only one or two starters, itās just a tough road to hoe.

Robertson. Little brother of Andre Robertson. Both are somewhat legendary athletes from Orange. Andre was the first African American baseball player for UT and played for the Yankees in the show until a near fatal car crash ended his career. Roderick was an exceptional quarterback in HS, and spent about a decade in the minors, mostly with the Phillies organization.

I think you may be right.

One of my favorite kids Iāve ever coachedā¦

Yes and Jabari had 0. Last season, Jabari was the consensus preseason player of the year before he had an injury that hampered his season. This year they have him at the point even though the 2 is his natural position. Think he had 21 & 8 against the jacks.
-
I think he means post-leather helmetsā¦
-
Thatās main reason for their toughness. The SETX dna (Beaumont and PA as well) includes a lot of toughness. Silsbee community, like WOS, would support coaches instilling such toughness. Not all communities wouldā¦like say, Palestine.
-
Yep lol. Like clockwork, they score 26 & 21 today against the jacks. No idea what happened against Sam.
-
I wonder how many realize how true this is (from a talent perspective)? In recent years, Silsbee is usually more talented than WOS (and especially depthwise). If Cornel had been Silsbeeās head coach during the time he was at WOS, hard to believe they wouldnāt have a ring or two. Especially because Silsbee, like WOS, would absolutely give him the freedom to coach.

LCM has always paid more than the market demanded. In all other respects, theyāve always been pretty mediocre (with an outlier season here and there). Remarkable what heās come in and done, especially in year one. Having said all that, heās home and as LCMalum points out, a lot less craziness with that job. For the good Lordās sake, look at what they endured for so long with Crouch. I donāt think the Steelers even give out that kind of job securityā¦

Gotcha - basically after Memorial opened. Based on accomplishments (in HS), that group is the second best since Memorial opened (except for Clover who started and played heavy minutes on the best Memorial team). Chatman, Valsin, Keller, Jones, Wesley, etc was clearly the best group.
