  1. Yes but it’s a “little” different with McClure. When you have a 6-6 wing who can handle it and shoot it and he’s the only D-1 in the district (other than Silsbee’s freshman or two that look like future D-1s, it makes an even bigger difference. But your point is well taken in general.
  2. They also lead the nation in steals. But that surprises me as well. A bit of an anomaly.
  3. I actually tend to agree with you. They just seem like a team that was destined to pick off someone in the first round. And that game against Tech was in Lubbock. Texas has the athletic bigs that could negate one of ACU’s strengths but they really don’t have any weaknesses. I like ACU in the upset too.
  4. Yep. Forgot about PJ. He’s definitely in that conversation.
  5. Most of the time, the academy schools help with academics (I.e., getting a kid qualified). Terrence was noticed long ago. He’s been playing on a sneaker circuit since he’s been in HS. That’s where the elite kids get their looks now anyways. College coaches aren’t in the middle of their season and can watch kids play with and against basically all D1 players. There will be dozens of D1 coaches at each and every one of his games there (which is why he already holds several high major offers). He arrived long before SA. He was already a national top 100 player. He just caught some people up there. But to the original question, going to a prep school won’t do anything for him from an exposure standpoint. And he comes from a wonderful, grounded family. His momma and daddy are going to want to enjoy having him home his last year of high school and rightfully so. He’s an amazing, fun loving kid.
  6. For sure. It is really tough naming 5 (but I don’t like lists with 10, etc). The only three who HAVE to be on the list are Arceneaux, McClure and Harvey. You could make a strong argument for Tyler in place of the other two on my list.
  7. If we are going with who did the most with what he had this year, Kevin Foster is your guy. But that is the case in many years. This area is blessed with a tremendous amount of coaching talent at the HS level.
  8. No there were some in Maroon who contributed as well 😉
  9. And I am not putting Mitchell down because he is obviously an excelled coach. But put McClure on any other team in that district and they finish top 2. He was that much better than everyone else not wearing a silsbee jersey.
  10. You got to stop with Lumberton wasn’t picked to make the playoffs. Just because some numb nuts didn’t realize a team with a D1 player wasn’t going to be a top 2 team in THAT district doesn’t mean anything. Other than a lack of knowledge on said numb nuts’ parts
  11. Lamar falls 93-71 to ACU. Then ACU dispatches the tournament’s #1 seed Nicholls St 79-45 in the Finals. ACU is just on another level. They could legitimately win a tournament game. Great finish to the season for the Cards.
  12. Only one coach in this area won his last game. That’s the guy who gets the award.
  13. You have to give the COTY to David Green. Period. Top 5 Players: Terrence Arceneaux (MVP) Wesley Yates Brock McClure Ernest Caesar Jacob Harvey If we bring in Houston schools, then obviously Hart and Stewart from Atascocita, Abram from summer creek and Bradford from GCM might replace some on this list. But not at MVP - that’s been Arceneaux all year.
  14. He had a state tournament appearance at West Orange Stark?
  15. Great season for the Falcons. They certainly benefited from the top several teams in the state being in the northern 2 regions. But still a great run. Truth is they had little to no chance against an Argyle. This result would have been the same 95 times out of 100. When you have superior size, superior players, and superior coaching, that’s usually lethal. On another note, I’m not sure I subscribe to Jimmy Hicks’ mantra that “there’s no such thing as a great player having a bad game in a big game.” But some of y’all needed to tap the brakes there too.
  16. He woulda had that ball every possession in OT. They didn’t have a kid in that arena who could guard him. That big Henderson is a power 5 WR - Baylor and Ga Tech offers among others. Athletic as hell. Arceneaux was dusting by him like he was @Mr. Buddy Garrity
  17. Kid makes it look as easy as can be. Y’all can go back to debating the best Beaumont teams but I will say this - Terrence Arceneaux is as talented as we’ve had since Stephen Jackson.
  18. Wow. I mean is it that hard? Big time players make big time shots in big time games in big time situations.
  19. You have one of the best players in this entire state. Put the damn ball in his hands. And he’s never been intimidated a day in his life.
  20. He looked terrified on the line. I don’t know who did what but Arceneaux needed the ball in his hands there. Period.
  21. Jeez can’t buy a foul. That big has no chance of guarding Terrence off the dribble. None
