Remembering Todd Broussard (WOSgrad) 8-21-21
TxHoops replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in High School Football
Prayers for Todd’s family and friends. He was one of a kind, impossible not to like. -
The cringe never stops in the OC…

Yeah, not so much. Jahmius Ramsey led D’ville to a state title a few years ago. Duncanville was the third high school he attended - HIS SENIOR YEAR! Let’s just say the DECs in DFW are wayyy more lax than other areas of the state. That’s not exactly a secret. And I would submit that certainly contributes to their dominance, in general, in the big 2 sports.

I’m glad he’s back too. Would love to see that rematch as long as the result is the same. So Arterio and Keyonte George were going to combine to form the best HS backcourt in the country. The heavy rumor floating this summer was they were both also going to commit to Texas and Chris Beard. Arterio commits in July. Then recently Keyonte commits to Baylor. Shortly thereafter, Arterio decides to return to Kimball. Would be very curious as to what precipitated what.

That is a huge get. Got to see him over the summer - kid is a beast. You guys crack me up with your UIL comments. Y’all haven’t been keeping up with the transfers running through Duncanville? Y’all thought they win state every year with Coach Peavy and homegrown talent? That’s cute 😊

That family has been through an awful lot in the past year. Prayers that the news keeps getting better.

Top 10 best coaches in Setx??

Brian is definitely way up there. Some on here will downplay his greatness but most acknowledge how good he is. And I will say, like Foster mentioned above, I can verify first hand that he is always willing to help a kid out, even if it’s not one of his own kids or students. You can tell a lot about a person by how they treat people when it doesn’t personally benefit them. Both are incredible human beings off the court. -
I don’t know that I’ve spoken with anyone in the medical community that deals with Covid patients that isn’t overwhelmed.

That is one area they disagree with him about. He got the jab.

I much prefer animals to people…

Top 10 best coaches in Setx??

We are blessed to have some great coaches in this area. Not good but GREAT. Obviously the two Beaumont guys are legends and Hall of Famers. So is Sutherland. I suspect Sigler will be as well. And most of those listed in this thread are very good as well. But if you are a basketball guy and don’t have Foster near the top of your list, you just haven’t seen BS play (much or at all). He’s as good as there is. -

Boooooo aggy BoR. You only voted to approve daddy joining the SEC to put a stop to our hilarious memes and gifs. Killjoys…

I agree with that. However, I think Texas joining helps Arkansas’s recruiting. There’s a reason Arky is on board with UT joining the party. They are hoping for one of CFB’s great rivalries to ramp up again, not the fake one that has been manufactured. Us old guys remember when UT-Arkansas was one of the best rivalries in the country. To resume that adds extra dollars to the Hogs (on top of the added conference revenue) and should give them a better recruiting angle for Texas recruits.
-
We can have a standing bet every year. You take aggy, I get UT. The only caveat is that it’s the same amount every year (unless we both agree to bump or lower it) and the bet happens EVERY year. In other words, neither party can back out absent agreement of both parties. I like money. You can even name the amount.

I agree with your assessment. Not crazy about this move at all. But college athletics, like much in life, is about the money.

I said last season that it may have been Boutte’s best coaching job (same with Foster at BS). Both did way more than they should have with the talent they had. Boutte is most definitely still on top of his game. -

That is all understood. But if you think Texas and OU came to the SEC with hat in hand, on their proverbial knees (as your first post alluded), and that A&M had been a part of the discussions in the Southernly, democratic SEC…. But whatever narrative makes everyone feel better about themselves, cool. This is nothing more than the SEC being proactive and blowing the Big 10 out of the money waters. Some people just have to eat Lima beans to make that happen. This is about capitalism, not democracy.

I like and respect you too. But if you think Vanderbilt wields as much power as Bama, I have some things to sell you. Yes they both a vote that counts the same. But that’s where it ends. All of the above sounds great and, frankly, a bit utopian. But that’s not how college athletics (or life) works. Probably would be better if it did. But it always boils down to who needs who more and who brings the most to the table. And the power brokers (from the sec side) are exactly who you might expect them to be.
