  1. I know. That’s why I’m saying the semifinal will be the de facto championship game. Best two teams left playing squaring off.
  2. I agree. That’s just what happens sometimes when you have 4 starters who are underclassmen. Again, this Huffman team reminds me a lot of that Big Sandy team from several years ago. That would have been a heckuva game. And I agree. They have a good shot at winning one more. The stars have aligned for Class 4A region 3 this year. Region 1 and 2 are in another class though. If Argyle wins, and Huffman wins, could be a good game. Huffman plays a lot like Argyle, Argyle just does it better IMO.
  3. Shooting 2 for 28 from 3 pt land and being in the game in the last minute is crazy in any game. To do so in the regional final is pretty much unfathomable.
  4. THIS! Any team that shoots 2 for 28 in a regional final you would expect them to get run out of the gym. And most years, in most regions, they would. If they had gone 2/28 against Yates they would have lost by 20-30.
  5. Blow Sand Blow! I think (and hope) United takes it as well. My only concern was a veteran Pg like Lancaster’s Taylor giving them fits. Feel a lot better with them out. I like the Wolves against Kimball or Amarillo.
  6. One thing about the Metroplex, they always have a plan B, and sometimes a plan C. Usually at LEAST 2 teams there perfectly capable of winning it all.
  7. Correct and one of their other 2 losses was to 6A #1 Waxahachie by 9 (who is getting beaten soundly by Duncanville right now).
  8. Kimball and Lancaster tied at 64 with 5 seconds left.
  9. Like I said, you are a great addition to this board. But no one, and I mean NO ONE, is buying that statement! 😂😉
  10. I will say that the winner here gets Amarillo and that’s no cake walk either. Sandies perfectly capable of pulling an upset.
  11. Lancaster blew it open in the 3rd Quarter to take an 18 pt lead. Now it’s down to 1 with a minute and change left.
  12. Kimball trying to claw their way back in the 4th against Lancaster.
  13. It truly is amazing the game came down to the end as poorly as they shot it. Congrats to the Falcons though.
  14. Yeah need one more win and then we might get the clash of the titans the state has been waiting to see.
  15. Yeah that lineup starting 2 freshmen and 2 sophomores, hard to believe they got as far as they did. This was definitely the year to give everyone else a chance. And they almost took that away. Great season Tigers! The Region 1 vs Region 2 game should be the de facto state championship game.
  16. Nobody is beating BU until SA but BU. They are just too talented.
  17. My thought exactly. Huffman was starting to fold under pressure, coughing that thing up like it’s hot. Tigers need more from seniors than air ball 3 and turnover off back to back steals too. Get to the cup more and stop settling for first jumper you see.
  18. There have only been 4 coaches in the history of Lamar Basketball (since the junior college days) who have had a career winning record. Jack Martin, Billy Stubbs, Pat Foster, and Tic Price. Lamar didn’t get the invite to join the WAC with SFA, Sam Houston, and Abilene because of their football program. Tic is well respected among the NCAA coaching fraternity for a reason. I do agree however with points made about some of the other programs, most notably baseball. Lamar should never be a doormat there.
  19. My senior year we got an invite to the Kerrville Basketball Festival. At the time, it was a big deal because that was THE holiday tournament in the state and basically only invited ranked teams. I remember sitting in the stands at Tivy HS when the biggest kid is ever seen walked in, with a clock on a chain around his neck ala Flavor Flav. It almost looked like a regular medallion on him. That was Shaq and SA Cole was in our division. Prior to the internet, we had no idea who he was before then. They smoked everyone, including our rival Edgewood (who would go on to win state in 2A that year) in the Finals. And the person was right, it was Shaq and just some other dudes. The Chuckwu kid is a nice player. He is not in the same hemisphere Shaq was in HS. But then again, not many ever have been.
  20. He’s in the middle of the ultimate fight and needs some major heavenly intervention at this point.
  21. This is definitely true. This is the biggest problem I have with the way Yates plays. They always have superior athletes and it usually gets them pretty deep. But when they run into a team with an elite guard or two, it’s crispy toast.
  22. Very diplomatic no-look. We need to be kind to Hagar as he is approaching “super senior” status.
