  1. Certainly not those with low basketball IQs...
  2. This Abilene team may not be done. It’s the best Southland team I’ve seen since that Walkup SFA group.
  3. And the official line is he moved back home because he was homesick. Had nothing to do with not getting the starting PG job over Isa Silva...
  4. He started the school year in California. He transferred back to Kimball in October.
  5. He is no longer with the team. He will be transferring from Sam - not sure whether it will involve basketball or not.
  6. No doubt. I’m glad Morris was able to enroll in October, just in time for the season. We will get to see him up close and personal this weekend in Houston.
  7. That might be the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard involving this great game. And that’s saying something because I’ve been a frequent visitor to this board for years. 😂 He had one kid on his team (Morris) that can compare with Arceneaux and Yates in terms of a “basketball player.”
  8. Yep and at which point the plan is for BU to go wire to wire at the top spot on their way to pulling off the repeat...
  9. Shouldn’t be unpopular. Spot on.
  10. To be sure. But I had Green as my COTY because of winning it all. And with the youth on that team, it’s pretty impressive there were zero hiccups on the season. And despite what was claimed here, they weren’t just a prohibitive favorite. In fact many folks, myself included, would have had Lancaster as a solid favorite against them. Lancaster had more seasoned players, and far more size. And a high major Pg who seemed to be in his 8th season leading that team. Several were deserving. Give it to the guy who got the ring.
  11. Agree completely. If we are going to say who did the most with what they had this year, my vote goes to either Kevin Foster of Big Sandy or Andre Boutte of West Brook. Neither of their team’s had any business winning the games they won this year but for outstanding coaching. And I’m not saying either team was terrible because they weren’t. But Big Sandy was at least a year away from having a team that should be advancing to the regional tournament (or the equivalent). And WB beating Atascocita in the regular season, winning a playoff game and then taking Shadow Creek to OT in the second round? I’m not sure that any of the hardware on his hand is any more impressive than what he did with that squad this year. Oh and add Joe Sigler to those two.
  12. Yes but it’s a “little” different with McClure. When you have a 6-6 wing who can handle it and shoot it and he’s the only D-1 in the district (other than Silsbee’s freshman or two that look like future D-1s, it makes an even bigger difference. But your point is well taken in general.
  13. They also lead the nation in steals. But that surprises me as well. A bit of an anomaly.
  14. I actually tend to agree with you. They just seem like a team that was destined to pick off someone in the first round. And that game against Tech was in Lubbock. Texas has the athletic bigs that could negate one of ACU’s strengths but they really don’t have any weaknesses. I like ACU in the upset too.
  15. Yep. Forgot about PJ. He’s definitely in that conversation.
  16. Most of the time, the academy schools help with academics (I.e., getting a kid qualified). Terrence was noticed long ago. He’s been playing on a sneaker circuit since he’s been in HS. That’s where the elite kids get their looks now anyways. College coaches aren’t in the middle of their season and can watch kids play with and against basically all D1 players. There will be dozens of D1 coaches at each and every one of his games there (which is why he already holds several high major offers). He arrived long before SA. He was already a national top 100 player. He just caught some people up there. But to the original question, going to a prep school won’t do anything for him from an exposure standpoint. And he comes from a wonderful, grounded family. His momma and daddy are going to want to enjoy having him home his last year of high school and rightfully so. He’s an amazing, fun loving kid.
  17. For sure. It is really tough naming 5 (but I don’t like lists with 10, etc). The only three who HAVE to be on the list are Arceneaux, McClure and Harvey. You could make a strong argument for Tyler in place of the other two on my list.
  18. If we are going with who did the most with what he had this year, Kevin Foster is your guy. But that is the case in many years. This area is blessed with a tremendous amount of coaching talent at the HS level.
  19. No there were some in Maroon who contributed as well 😉
  20. And I am not putting Mitchell down because he is obviously an excelled coach. But put McClure on any other team in that district and they finish top 2. He was that much better than everyone else not wearing a silsbee jersey.
  21. You got to stop with Lumberton wasn’t picked to make the playoffs. Just because some numb nuts didn’t realize a team with a D1 player wasn’t going to be a top 2 team in THAT district doesn’t mean anything. Other than a lack of knowledge on said numb nuts’ parts
  22. Lamar falls 93-71 to ACU. Then ACU dispatches the tournament’s #1 seed Nicholls St 79-45 in the Finals. ACU is just on another level. They could legitimately win a tournament game. Great finish to the season for the Cards.
  23. Only one coach in this area won his last game. That’s the guy who gets the award.
  24. You have to give the COTY to David Green. Period. Top 5 Players: Terrence Arceneaux (MVP) Wesley Yates Brock McClure Ernest Caesar Jacob Harvey If we bring in Houston schools, then obviously Hart and Stewart from Atascocita, Abram from summer creek and Bradford from GCM might replace some on this list. But not at MVP - that’s been Arceneaux all year.
