I think 20 points may be defined as a close game relatively speaking with this United team. When you have the #2 ranked kid in the Greater Houston area 2022 class in Arceneaux (who was #1 until Griggs moved back) and the #1 ranked kid in the 2023 class, and they aren’t the only D1 kids on the team, the talent level is through the roof. And they play well together. I’m not sure the last time our area had 2 or more high major kids on the same team.

We’ll see if he lasts. He’s approaching he last-rodeo status and I’m not talking about age.

Hmmm the “defensive effort” argument could be made in other spots in this thread. Sometimes when you carry the water, you pick your spots. You undersell him defensively. If you know Tic, you know you don’t play for him without performing on that end. I know Josh gets on him on the defensive end. I also know Joe has gotten on some of his “stars” on the defensive end. Brock rebounds the ball way above the mean on the defensive boards and has above average feet. His defense is fine. But if you are looking to nitpick his game, you’re right; that’s the spot. Same goes for Mr. Bush.

This is very true. McClure last year was clearly the next best prospect in the district behind Bush, at least in my opinion (and I guess Tic Price’s). But there was also a next best to Secretariat each time he raced as well... As you stated, Bush’s (and Secretariat’s) don’t come around very often.

I remember last year I said McClure was the best player in the district not named Bush. I remember that drawing some comments and skepticism. Can someone remind me how many players in that district ended last year with D1 offers/signings and which conference they were signed to? I can’t remember.

Yessir. Took them to the playoffs back when only 2 got in. Think he left for Barber’s Hill maybe and then Nimitz later. Been at Nimitz a while now. His son Tyler played at Nederland with Weisbrod and could shoot the piss out of the ball. Great guy too.

I don’t know about unpopular, but could be inaccurate. The “most dangerous” team in the district has a better chance of missing the playoffs than winning the district. Just my opinion of course.

Not bad actually. Nimitz is pretty good this year. Beat a good Kingwood team and barely lost to a really good Bryan team. And they are always well coached with Nathan Toon steering the ship.

He doesn’t want any. I offered to give him every team in the district and I get Silsbee. Name his price and we can post the cash. He was going to PM me. Still waiting....

I like both and I like BC too. LCM will be in the playoff hunt too. But ultimately I think it’s Silsbee’s district. They might stumble a time or two though.

I anticipate that they WILL get a lot better. They will play their best basketball at the end of the year. And they will win their district based on competition. In the old district, it would have been a three way dogfight.

They almost hung a hundred through three quarters. I remember going and seeing Silsbee play Concordia a few years ago, and I stayed for the Houston Christian - Yates game. Sahvir Wheeler (now starting PG at Georgia) was breaking that JY press by himself (that was the Mitchell Serialle/Jock Hughes Yates’ team). Miller Kopp had more dunks in that game than he had in his career up to that point probably. Moral is, when you play elite guards, you do a lot more dying than living by the press.

Sounds like knife through butter...elite guards see back court pressure and their eyes light up like a fat kid eyeing a Big Mac. Run the clock for Pete’s sake.

Yeah any time you play up 2 levels (I.e., a 4A playing a 6A), you should expect to be tested at a minimum.
