Concordia went after Taylor so i assume he has a spot on their roster.
-
Spoke with Taylor last night and he was offered an academic scholarship to attend Concordia University in Austin. Taylor will join the soccer team this semester. Congrats to Taylor Granato on his chance to play soccer at the next level and have most of his school paid for.

Rob, you have done such a wonderful job at nederland and I have no doubts you will have the same success at Churchill. I wish nothing but the best for you and your family in San Antonio. Good Luck!

Best Team in the 4A Region Boys Next Year?
CoachL replied to Skippy's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Let me respond to Skippy about whether or not i can coach. I take pride in my work and do the absolute best that i can do. I played soccer growing up and played on state championship team when i was U12 (its hard to rember that far back). Soccer was always my first love but football paid the way for me to get an education. I am not as knowledgable in soccer as Coach Bledsoe is or Coach Lane is or any of the coaches that have been at this a long time and I will easily admit that. I am however, passionate hard working and addicted to success so I study the game and learn from the coaches I compete against as well as clinics etc..... To quote you, " I guess since this is Coach L's first Senior class we will find out for sure if he can really coach or if he chokes with his first graduating group". i guess a 54-14-5 record over three years and 3 consecutive district championships, 1 area championship and 2 area finalist is not enough proof. All for a guy who has only coached it for 3 years. Since you know who I am and what I do, may i ask what you do and who you are. Bledso said it best. There is nothing more pitiful than a coward who hides behind a screen name and attacks another man. Once again, if it's so easy: Get certified. Get a coaching job. Win state -

Best Team in the 4A Region Boys Next Year?
CoachL replied to Skippy's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Well lets see.... I really dont like to make assumptions about who will this or who wil win that because nothings is ever for sure in sports. I was merely saying that we were returning 8 starters off of a team who lost by one goal to Brenham in the playoffs. Let me remind you that Brenham won Region 3 and were state finalist. Can my team compete with Houston schools? I would definately say yes we can compete with them just as we competed with this years regional champ. Its unfortunate here at Lumberton that we only have 35-40 kids come out for soccer. Unlike the Houston schools , we dont have the luxury of the number of kids nor the number of kids involved with club soccer. With that said Lumberton has done pretty good over the last few years considering we were knocked out in 2007 to Palestine 2-0 (state semifinalist), nacogdoches in 2008 (lost to brenham in Regional championship) and then this years lost to Brenham 2-1. Might I ask why you say we will need more than 8 returning starters just to win our district? We have won 3 straight district championships here and have some very talented players coming back next year. Scott Poole (all region player and probable div.1 player), Wes Brackin and Caleb Schexnider have all been outstanding underclassmen and wil be seniors next year. Really Skippy, I would say we were pretty good and will be very good next year as well! What team do you stand behind? Who do you think will win the region? -

BISD vote on Ozen Basketball Coach Delayed
CoachL replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Joubert is a hell of a coach. I could see Ozen winning a few more state championships under him. Great guy and great role model for the kids at ozen. -
Congratulations to three Southeast Texas soccer players for being selected to play in the annual Senior Showcase representing both 4A and 5A teams from Region III. Ryan Washburn - Nederland Sam Gurski - Westbrook Taylor Granato - Lumberton The Men's Senior Showcase will be held in San Antonio on May 2nd at 1:00 pm. The game will be played at the Blossom Athletic Complex. The team will be coached by Elgin (4A) coach daryl Faulks whose team played in the regional quarterfinals and the Katy (5A) coach, David Crockett whose team played in the State Semifinals.

as most of you know I am already a little whiney :o but i would be just as upset as shark and bon mot if we would have been under-represented on the SuperGold Team. I can totally see where you are coming from. Two very very good teams with loads of talent. I myslef did not get to see Kelly play this year but as for Nederland they gave us all we could handle and were as BonMot said UNDEFEATED which in that district is not an easy task. I think Mr. Clark is trying to get more exposure for soccer by the enterprise (and we thank him) but I also feel there should be a little more involved in the process than just one man's opinion. Maybe even something like form a commitee to do the selections. Im just brainstorming here but maybe a few sports writers from the enterprise and possibly a coach from each district we r represented by (37, 38, Kelly and the 5As) would esnsure the deserving players make the list.

Who is the best goalie in southeast texas?
CoachL replied to silsbee12's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
In my opinion, Caleb had a really great season and is deserving of his super gold selection. He only allowed 17 goals all season and 7 of them in district play. 3 of which he gave up to a red hot Vidor team while playing with 10 stitches above his left eye. (Big collison the Friday before in Jasper). Had he not been hurt the outcome may have been different Vidor played great and not taking anything at all away from them but take that game out and he gave up only 4 in district play. As i said before the Ned keeper had a heck of a season as well, so I am sure it was a tough choice. -
Caleb is a pretty good keeper there shark. Im sure Vidrine would argue that he has just as much stake to it as our guys do. And if it makes you feel better I wasnt asked about players either. :-\

Lets just hope they fix the playoff brackets next year.
