  1. Weel the Res Sox sold him to the Yankees in 1919 for $125,000 - in 1919. I have no idea what that would equate to these days but I am sure it would be a lot. Babe Ruth is, hands down, the greatest baseball player that ever lived!
  2. How about a red helmet - no stripe - with white facemask and interlocking white LU insignia?
  3. www.39online.com Go to the video section and search for cougar cancer
  4. Blue Dove - How long do you think Tech gives Pat Knight? I don't think he is the answer. It was a nice story to have Bob pass the torch, but for your first head job to be in one of the best basketball conferences in the county is a little overwhelming.
  5. A-Rod is playing for the Dominican. And he wonders why he doesn't generate a lot of fan respect.
  6. Admittedly, I have not watched a lot of Tech bball this year, but I know that last year's squad did not match up well with teams that ran the floor. This Tech team could still surprise some people this year. Voskuil can fill it up, Singletary is still developing and Rizvic can't play until the second half of the season. That said, I am excited for the big win tonight.
  7. No doubt, and you know there will be at least 1k of walk ups, probably 2k. There are going to be a lot of people there. And you know those obnoxious TT fans will show (no offense Ruckdad). By the way, who are you rooting for in this one Ruckdad? I always pull for the school I got my undergraduate degree from over any others. Plus I really became a college basketball fan in the Beaumont Civic Center watching the Cardinals, so I pull for Big Red but won't get real upset should things not go our way.
  8. Unless it's disrepectful for fans to predict their team winning. If that's the case, any Tech fans happenning onto this board could say the same thing.
  9. I didn't say it was the greatest feed, but you could watch it. I had gametracker on for the score and was actually listening to KLVI at the same time.

  11. It's not Lamar Beaumont - It's Lamar University! Just a pet peeve.
  12. Isn't TAMU-CC in the midst of some major violations and wasn't the NCAA thinking about killing that program? You can recruit a lot better athlete when you pay no attention to the rules.
  13. One of the main reasons Lamar came back to the SLC was travel costs. Financial times are much better at Lamar than they were ten years ago, but the WAC would include crazy travel costs. IDaho, Hawaii, California and Louisiana. Ridiculous time and miles in the air. If we want to go FBS conference, it needs to be CUSA, Sun Belt or a startup - like the SWC several people have touted on here. I like the idea, but the expense of the WAC would literally kill the athletic program.
  14. Lee has a no trade clause, and he was their best offensive player this year. On an offense that was below average (statistics wise) why would you want to do that when there are FA pitchers out there that you could go after, i.e. Ben Sheets?
  15. ALMVP: Who knows - maybe even Josh Hamilton NLMVP: Albert Pujols AL Cy Young: Cliff Lee NL Cy Young: Johan Santanna (Mets bullpen lost him a bunch of games, he had most quality starts in the NLm and pitched in more meaningful games than Lincecum.) AL Rookie of the Year: Evan Longoria NL Rookie of the Year: Geovany Soto (don't like this - not really a rookie -- I would go JAy Bruce or JoeyVotto) Biggest Story of the Year: Collapse of the Mets again
  16. Just a pet peeve - but it is not Lamar Beaumont it's Lamar University!
  17. Boo freaking Hoo!
  18. I think it's a two horse race, and both guys probably deserve it. But the name of the game for starting pitchers is to win games. Webb will have the most wins, and by a pretty wide margin this year. If Lincecum was on almost any other team he wins 25 or so and gets the CY YOung easily, but it's Webb's this year.
  19. Brandon Webb will likely get to 20 wins, and he'll be the only one. That will probably get him the award.
  20. TVC - I will sleep much better tonight, thanks!
  21. Where are you guys seeing the models?
  22. Terror - Where does UALR play these days? I had the fortune of going to a SUn Belt tournament there several years back and the building at that time was a dump. THis was in the late 90s.
  23. I was there last night with the Murphy family and it was pretty special.
  24. I'd be curious to see what the state of Lamar athletics would be if the school decided 10 years ago to add football. Probably be in the Sun Belt right now still...why exactly did LU leave the conference? I've seen you guys talk about bad leadership at the time, but what was the guy(s) thinking that pushed them to leave? Escalating travel costs? The story I heard was that the then-president of Lamar said that if Lamar went back to the SLC then they could afford to bring back football. Rumor has it that he never intended to bring back football. There are others in this forum who know a lot more about what happened than me. At the time, Lamar was in shambles financially. Administration was doing anything they could to curb costs and get the university back into shape. There are a lot of things that the Administration just prior to the current administration did that has paved the way for the great things we are seeing now.
