I could interview 100 random students on Lamar's campus and probably could not find one that is paying $22K/yr "out of pocket". You saying 22K/yr is like telling me I'm going to pay the MSRP on the next vehicle I buy. Come on kid. And if I'm figuring the cost of my kid going to college without a scholarship, he/she would be living at home, paying for their meals with a part-time job and only paying for tuition & books (which would be bought online and not in the campus bookstores). 4 years at Lamar would cost me about $40K without any assistance.
-
Well, since you asked, most public colleges/universities would fall into this price range. Now if it took you 8-10 years to make it through Lamar then I could understand why you are confused.

It sounds like your coach is doing it right. I get especially frustrated with the select coaches who ignore pitch counts and only go by the Innings Allowed. A kid gets in trouble one inning and throws 40+ pitches but he still only pitched 1 inning in that coach's eyes. In that exact case, I did speak up as a parent and it almost got ugly with the coach. That was our last year with that team/coach.

It all depends on your definition of overthrowing. Most select coaches have no problem pitching a kid on Friday or Saturday and then turn around and pitching the kid in the championship game or semi-finals on Sunday. If the kid threw more than 40-45 pitches on Saturday, do you consider it "overthrowing" for the coach to pitch him again on Sunday? And remember, we are talking pitches, not innings like some select leagues like to use. By the way, I support the new pitching limits 100%. I'm especially supportive of the # of days rested between outings.

Coach Jacks out at Lumberton
AthleticSupporter - Jock replied to OneChance's topic in High School Girls Basketball
Only reason I ask about HF having an opening is because Jacks has been telling folks that's where he is headed for a few weeks now. Just found it interesting, especially given the fact that HF "currently" is not without a Girls BB coach. Things that make you go Hmmm. -

Good ballgame. Young and Leckich both pitched great games. Each team had 6 hits. PNG was just the better team tonight. Congrats on the W. -

Should be an entertaining game. If we don't give up 6 runs in a single inning tonight, then the Raiders have a shot. -

What the Trinity river recently did in your area, the Sabine did to Deweyville. But Deweyville got it a LOT worse. But as bad as that is for Deweyville, I don't understand how that has anything to do with Lumberton doing much needed maintenance and upgrades to our Track and Field. -

Coach Jacks out at Lumberton

I'm not sure I understand this comment. Is Jacks leaving something that he brought with him? Or leaving a part of himself? What is he leaving that Lumberton will be working with? -
There are some good coaches at HF. Are you referring to Brewton? Lumberton already has a good QB coach but Brewton's offensive mind and experience would be valuable on any staff. I trust that Babin will get us the right coaches to fill whatever spots we have.

And if Lumberton is going to make the playoffs, we will be Small School with PNG so I have to root for GCM in this game. Sorry Indians. -

I just hope PNG uses up all their pitching tonight in a 20 inning marathon game. -
Is it common to have a booster club just for Football instead of for ALL athletics?

I've never been to Cushing and don't plan to but being an assistant at Lumberton sounds like a considerable upgrade over a HC in Cushing. Cushing has about 500 people with an avg household income of $28K. Lumberton has about 30,000 people (if you include all neighborhoods built just outside the city limits) and an avg household income of $45K. Lumberton is recognized as one of the fastest growing cities in Texas. Cushing, not so much. And don't forget that Jehling was a finalist for the HC/AD job in Lumberton. Had Babin not acccepted the job, Jehling would be the AD/HC of Lumberton. Kudos to Babin for convincing him to come to Lumberton as an assistant. It would have been nice to keep him for 2-3 years but we were lucky to have him as an assistant for 1. Congrats to Jehling and HF.

You are right about it being a fun and interesting second half. Whoever slips up between Nederland, Vidor and Lumberton will be sitting at home come playoffs. With us being a young team, I like our chances. We might be starting to gel at just the right time. Let's hope for an injury-free second half for all teams.

It would be easier to let go of last week if we didn't have a Lumberton coach on Facebook over the weekend calling both of these boys a Cancer that needs to be removed. Talk about Keeping it Classy. -

D Davis and Stewart. Are those the two that are still at Lumberton but made a decision to be in administration for financial reasons? Luttrell did what any good young coach does: accepted a position in another district with greater promise of advancement and $. Credeur(2), you are correct. We lost these two because of crazy, Haynes-loving parents. -
