His thighs were huge, built like a tree trunk, he out ran everybody. He was a beast, bigger and faster than everybody.
[Hidden Content] Here is a link to highlights from 1990 Cotton Bowl.  He's a true freshman doing that to the previously undefeated Cougars.  Announcers were drawing comparisons to Earl Campbell.  Saw Dronett, RIP, in the video as well.  McCoy from Bmt Central playing for the Cougars as a true freshman also in the video.  I forgot how bad I hated that UH siren.
 2.
I am hearing that Yates might get a few for the first time in a very long time.
I thought their enrollment was declining???  :)
 3.

Id also like to mention Jasper as a legit top team. I dont think they won any state title but their win lose record is strong. I remember all the Limbricks, Terrence Currington, and Shaun Horn days.
wasn't there a couple of Hadnot's from Jasper also?
Hadnot was Kirbyville.  Butch Hadnot went on to play at Texas.  Before Hadnot you have Dexter 'Thomas' I think.  Some of you remember how dominant Kirbyville was during those years.  I just remember those two guys.  Both unstoppable.
 4.
We are 98 days away from the start of the Texas High School Football Season and today is........   National Wig Out Day Have you ever wanted to dye your hair a different color or try out a new hairstyle, but were too scared to take the risk? Well, today is your opportunity to experiment. It’s National Wig Out Day! This celebration is similar to Halloween, but the focus is just on wigs. Wig Out Day was invented in 2006 by Kate and Alice Clark. The sisters were able to inspire the residents of Bellingham, Washington to go to work wearing all different types of crazy wigs and then gather downtown at the end of the day for a party. Since then, Wig Out Day has grown and spread throughout the nation. So get out there you wiggers :)
Turtle Day and then Wig Out Day??  We have taken a big step backwards since Nilla Puddin Day.  IJS  But we're one day closer to football and that's exciting.
You could have Rex Ryan be the new coach ..but no talent or lack of athletes and it doesn't matter who coaches lol
UTFan, you still never explained your post about 2A being a lot different than 4A.  Other than the obvious, enrollment, what is the big difference?
 6.
HJ will have to beat very good teams from HF, BC, and Orangefield to be a playoff team. I dont see it yet. HJ hasnt had much speed in a long time.
If speed was the most important ingredient for winning, don't you think Central and Ozen would finish in the top two every year in 20-4A?  Discipline, hard work, team work, and execution are a few things that will beat speed 'most' of the times.  The exceptions are when the kids with lots of speed work just as hard as the ones without it.  But notice I said 'exception'.  It is the exception to the rule.  On average, a more athletic, gifted kid will not work as hard year round as a kid that is not as athletic and gifted.  And remember, this is football not track.  A kid can be the fastest and most gifted kid in the district with 20 offers from D1s, but if he doesn't do 'his' job on the football field, the whole team suffers. I agree with some of you that HJ has a realistic shot at taking the #3 spot in district and definitely making the playoffs this year.
 7. Speaking to the QB position, or any position, I've been around sports long enough to know that with a new coach, EVERY position is open.  Lumberton has some starters from last year that are returning, so their names will be at the top of the list, but nobody should know right now who Coach Haynes will start at any position.  And that's how it should be.  You want those kids working their butts off for the next few months trying to be the starter for Week 1.  Then you want them fighting each week trying to take that spot from the guy that beat them out.  Lumberton has some competitive under classmen who are going to give some older kids a run for their money.  It will make everyone better.
 8.

Hardin actually made the play offs in Coach Haynes first two years finshing 9-3 in his first season.  His offense led by Myles Taylor put up 520 yards passing in a game against EC.  Unfortunately, due to lack of defense, Hardin lost the game 53-46.  They averaged 39 points a game that year but gave up an average of 41 points a game.  If they have some defense to go along with the offense that he will bring, Lumberton should be ok.
Big difference in 2A and 4A
It looks to me like he is saying his offense wont work at the 4A level, but then you read in a later post that he had 5 district championships and 4 undefeated seasons at the 5A level. It looks like thats exactly what hes saying.
UTFan06, what does your post about 'big difference in 2A and 4A'  mean.  Are you saying that what works at 2A doesn't work at 4A?  Are you saying that there are better defenses in 4A and that the offense won't work?  Is the field dimensions different, play with a different size ball or do they use a running clock in 2A?    Other than enrollment, what are we talking about here?
 9.
His track record speaks for itself.  Not sure if he has ever coached 5A.
Haynes coached 5A for 9 years after leaving lumberton. During that time, he racked up 5 district championships with 4 of those seasons being undefeated in district.  That kind of success is tough to argue with.
 10. Mills threw 145 in 10 innings just two weeks ago.  Don't know if that outing caused a stir.  Question I have is the original post says 'signee', has an official LOI been signed or has he just been offered and committed.  Only reason I ask is because it is a business and if there is nothing signed and he hurts his arm, that offer might get pulled back.
 11.
The batter can stand in his regular stance and it is the catcher that has to throw around, thats if the batter doesn't move. intentional or not the batter can not move into the path of the throw. One of the things about baseball rules, in most cases the umpire does not have to be a mind reader and determine intent.
Good enough for me.  Thanks for the reply.
 12.
It's kind of funny to me when P.A. says they own BMT, especially when their whole city is grouped in one school! I can only imagine if either of two of BMT High Schools merged, (not all 3 but 2) what would the conversation be like then! P.A. already has difficulty handling either of the High Schools as they are already! I guess this post was just meant to be comical because owning BMT did sound funny! I can already hear the Xbox Kenny chants returning... Lmbo  ;D
That would mean Weak Brooke in the playoffs, and THAT aint happening this year.  ;)
The Crytans going down this year. You know it and so does everyone else! You might as well move them to back of the list of teams. Oh and you already know how I like my burgers, chump!
Sounds like the same thing from last year. *points to scoreboard*
Actually I said Memorial would win the last two years. But, things will get back to normal.  *points to the history of Beaumont dominance over port arthur*
Welp, we OWN Beaumont now, BTW we need that BMT Bowl Trophy from the past 2 years, make sure its buffed and shined properly as we will be OWNING B.I.S.D. again for the 3rd straight year.  ;)

Didn't Bmt combine a few pretty good schools to come up with WB and Central.  I know there is Ozen now but... I agree though, Lincoln, TJ and SFA into one school, PAM should never lose a game.

You dog Silsbee out about being satisfied with 2nd and then you say all you ever wanted to be was competitive?? Isn't that another way to say I'm ok with LOSING as long as it's close?
Dang HFTParty, you had some folks starting to pull for HJ and now you lost em again.  Might I suggest an old classic "How to win friends and influence people" by Dale Carnegie.  And I still haven't heard the date of the hj/silsbee game.  Anyone?

 16.
The Sealy Tigers & Carthage Bulldogs would definitely have to be included in this discussion. Correct me if I am wrong, they both won 4 consecutive Class 3A State Championships. Sealy in the 90's & Carthage in recent years.
Sealy was pretty good in the late 70s.  That was back when ED meant something other than...well, you know.

 20.
[Hidden Content]; [Hidden Content]; Seems to me he did good at Hardin.
From looking at those links, this is what I see: --Highest Avg points scored per game in school history - 39.5 by 2010 Hornets.  This was one of those average years, .500, that a previous poster mentioned.  I bet if you asked the Lumberton football players if they would like to score an avg of 39 pts per game they would say YES. --In the past 37 years at Hardin, they have had 13 coaches and only 2 have had winning records.  Haynes was one of them. I say give the man a chance and give him your support and you will probably be happy with the results
 21. congrats To BG and razor for actually reading the original post. It said best across all 3. I said ned and after reading all your posts, I've determined 2 things. One, most of you can't read and two, East Chambers is really good.  Geez!!
 22. What is the date for hj/silsbee game?  I want to mark my calendar. Unless I'm scheduled to have dinner with obama, I plan to make this game. If hj wins, sour lake gonna look like chicago every time the bulls won the championship.  ;D
 23. This looks like a great hire for lumberton. Haynes has a long track record of winning, and also some exciting offensive football. The previous post was dead on. Get behind this man and tell your kids to also get behind him and the success will follow.
