Can't say I disagree. Don't they have HD on the schedule? I'm not yet convinced Hardin loses that one.. but they better get this one either way. Coincidentally, I think the former head coach made a decent decision with the departure.

I watched a little bit of the Anahuac/Newton game Friday. Ana's QB is a freshman? I kinda like the kid. That said.. freshmen will freshmen sometimes. I still choose Anahuac.

Who has the best chance to make a deep playoff run in SETX?
oldschool2 replied to BADSANTA's topic in High School Football
I bet those odds are out of this world. -
They definitely had some above average seasons. Overall I believe there were more poor or average seasons than there were good. Doesn't seem to justify keeping the school open if enrollment was falling off like I was told. They lost to Hull Daisetta the last season they had. So... Not sure that staying a separate school would have been the thing to do.

It's apparent that you 100% missed the point. Yes.. there are good programs in SeTx that make deep runs often. There are also teams that win most of their regular season games and exit before round 3. If you go 8-2 and lose first round.. you aren't as good as you think. So. Back to the question. What in SFA's playing history says that they were good? I don't care about winning seasons. District championships? Playoff wins? etc..
-
As with everything.. "Good" is relative. Even if they were at times locally good, it doesn't mean they were good. I'm seriously not familiar. What was their history of success that you're obviously referring to? Remember.. schools all over the state (especially SeTx) win 8/9/10 games in a year and bounce early.

Liberty beat Orangefield. No idea of the scores.

Iâm not an expert for there or any other school. I just have close friends in the profession everywhere. Even still.. I would never claim to know what is fact on a situation I wasnât involved with. Cry louder? Yeah.. ok. Youâre seemingly butthurt about it. Ex player? Parent? Sounds to me like he dodged an enormous bullet by getting out of there. No matter the details as to how. -

Yet, there you go. Taking what "they" say as the gospel truth. Actually, the only thing that's fact is that you seemingly don't know any of the details to which his contract ended. Since that's the case, it'd probably be wise to not act as if you do. -

Sometimes you gotta be careful you have correct information based on what "they" say. -
If HD takes your advice.. the number of games they win/lose will not be affected much if any. Itâs dependent on numbers and talent. Or lack there of. My money is on a massive pillow fight for the district with first round exits across the board.

I have no problem with 4 teams going. I have a problem with small districts. There are several circumstances of #4 seeds making runs in the playoffs. That alone justifies it. By the way.. record has nothing to do with it. Winning 8/9/10 isnât always difficult with many of the trash rotten districts in this SeTx coverage area. Donât be offended.. if there were more schools making it past area it wouldnât be the case.
-
That wouldnât be bad. At least being able to practice when itâs raining would help tremendously.
-
Well an indoor facility is a different conversation now isnât it? How many SeTx schools have access to something other than walking through situations in the gym? Other than an actual indoor practice facility, schools without turf are held hostage to the elements. Even practice fields.
-
The comparison of high schools having grass fields to professional teams having grass fields is beyond absurd. Pro teams have seemingly limitless money needed to maintain said field. And.. nobody uses the field except the team on game day. Do pro teams practice on the game field? No. High schools donât have that luxury. I prefer a PROPERLY MAINTAINED grass field over turf, but SeTx schools canât do that. Between weather and money (lack of) turf is the way to go down here. Or.. keep your, âIt was good enough for grandpa so itâs good enough nowâ mentality and keep losing to out of area teams that can actually practice the day after a storm. No skin off my back.

I have no doubt that intense work wasnât put in. Thatâs true with every professional athlete. There are tons of huge guys that didnât make it because of that very fact. Not hate whatsoever. You also canât deny that had he been 6â1 with that same work ethic, Ozen doesnât win it that year. Donât misconstrue my point.. the player (including his size) that he turned into was an integral part.

Bucket list? To each their own.. I guess. My bucket list definitely doesnât have Chester Football Field on it. Iâm leaning more towards skydiving or swimming with sharks. But Chester could be fun, too.

Thatâs very optimistic. -
The state is in a serious bind. Iâm not sure how many of the schools will function.. much less function efficiently.
-
Do you have any idea how many schools need teachers right now? She and any other teacher could probably go wherever they want.
-
Iâm on the fence.. simply because âslow playingâ is often used as a means of strategy for high school teams that lack offensive abilities. I do believe a shot clock would help the game in many situations but make not so good basketball teams lose games by even more embarrassing numbers. Teams that have good teams and/or good players donât hold the possession for longer than a shot clock period anyway.
