  3. Weeellllll.. not to jump in because I’m enjoying the back and forth. But.. it is hard to argue the fact that HD has only won a couple of playoff games since their state title 40 years ago. None recently. That’s kind of the standard to how good you are.

  7. Shame. That's why I tell people all of the time that playing college ball in any sport on any level is much more difficult to accomplish than realized. It's not just about skill. It's also grades, mentality, and life in general that can get in the way. I guess he'll join the crowd of who knows how many small town kids.. "I would've play college ball but (fill in the blank)"..
  8. I'm sure there have been more than people think.. to say someone is possibly the best to ever come through because he led his team to some wins over some crappy teams is a little much. I'm not saying the kid couldn't play.. but even at a school such as Hardin with all of their great football tradition (sarcasm) they have had some athletes I'm sure.
  9. I think I read somewhere that there have been some Hardin RBs go off to play college ball. So if you.. I mean White.. aren't playing college ball anywhere right now then you..I mean he..aren't the best running back to come through Hardin ever for sure.
  10. Please excuse me while I LOL. Apartment complexes / rental properties have completely diminished this idea. As stated above, open enrollment doesn't determine eligibility but RESIDENCE DOES. The UIL, the district, nor the coaches can do anything about where a kid moves to along with his/her legal guardian. A change of permanent residency is all it takes for a kid to be eligible to play somewhere else 15 days after the transfer date. If you don't think this is happening in mass numbers all across the state every year (especially bigger cities) then you're sadly mistaken.
  11. Those 30 schools are well aware of where the kid stands academically. You do realize that they won't even talk to kids they don't think will meet their academic requirements, don't you? [Hidden Content] Bottom line... the committee probably thought the same thing that I'm thinking. What can this new school possibly do for him academically that the school district in which he actually lives couldn't do in K-11? My answer..nothing. I'll say again. The kid should've changed permanent residence along with his legal guardian and then this wouldn't have been an issue. This exact circumstance is exactly what this specific rule is for.
  12. But they didn't move. The kid's legal guardian still stayed at the same residence.. meaning that he just changed schools. Had they ACTUALLY MOVED then nothing could've been done about it. What you're implying is that kid's should just be able to change schools whenever they want even if they say it's for academic reasons. That's exactly why this RULE is in place and exactly why the eligibility was denied. SMH..
  13. The kid's mom/parent should have moved. Had they changed their address this wouldn't even be an issue.
  14. Absolutely...and to be honest, if it was truly just about getting a better education and improving his environment then football isn't even needed whatsoever. So having to sit the year out won't mess up the chances of that ^.
  15. I know that.. Originally I wasn't aware that they didn't move. That's a no-brainer denial. Apartment complexes are truly the answer to the question of "can we stop kids from transferring?". It's no..no you can't. But in this case it was an easy decision from the state committee.
  16. I don't see how this is still a conversation. I read an article that said the kid's parent/caregiver didn't move into the school district he's trying to transfer to. That is literally close to zero chance of being approved.. and literally the reason why the UIL rule states that a kid has to sit a year if their guardian doesn't actually change/move their permanent residence to one that's in the new school's district. It's a little ridiculous that anyone thought this would fly. "We still live in the same place but I want to change school's because of academic reasons and to improve my quality of life.." Umm.. yeah that doesn't work. Whether it's true or not, it won't work. Only way it could've maybe had a remote chance would've been if the mom/dad/whoever legally gave up guardianship rights of the kid. Even then probably not happening.
  17. I really don't mean to interject..but...what? When exactly was anything about race mentioned before you brought it up? I'm just trying to keep up.
  18. The system that is in place now is truly the best way to go about it. If a kid transfers to another school district but changes their permanent residence to that of which is in the new school district, they sit 15 calendar days. I think the address change should be proven (mail, bills, etc) and possibly investigated but still best policy. If a student transfers but doesn't change permanent address they sit a calendar year. Of course there are holes but that is undoubtedly the best policy. Apartment complexes have opened the flood gates for bigger school transfers but it is what it is. You can't stop a parent from moving.
  19. So what do you suggest? Make every single kid in the state just sit out a year when they transfer?.. There are some actual legitimate transfers ya know.
  20. Ummm... pretty sure I remember some recent stories about some kids transferring to EC after beginning high school somewhere else.
  21. I'm pretty sure there's a rule to prevent such a silly notion. Something about having to sit out of varsity athletics for 15 days if you move into a school district to which you are transferring to. And sitting once calendar year if you do not move into the school district. Come on now.. Nobody can control when a kid moves their permanent address.
